Nigeria has sought to tackle corruption through traditional legal, law enforcement, and governance-focused interventions. The United States seeks to support the Government of Nigeria (GON) to institutionalize a culture of accountability at the federal, state, and local levels of government through support for prevention and enforcement activities. The purpose of this program is to develop strategic national, state, and local level anti-corruption programming to complement traditional anti-corruption efforts led by the GON and donors. The project will work at the national, state, and local level, in each geopolitical zone, and in coordination with relevant civil society stakeholders thereby creating networks of change and collective action throughout Nigeria. Particular attention should be paid to anti-corruption efforts related to security and justice sectors.

The Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces a Request for Statements of Interest (RSOI) from civil society organizations to promote and protect the human rights of marginalized populations. This request is seeking programs that take an intersectional approach to addressing violence and discrimination targeting marginalized populations, which undermine society’s collective security, and programs that provide marginalized populations with tools to prevent, mitigate and recover from violence.

Inclusion across the Nation of Communities of Learners of Underrepresented Discoverers in Engineering and Science (NSF INCLUDES) is a comprehensive national initiative designed to enhance U.S. leadership in science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) discoveries and innovations focused on NSF's commitment to diversity, inclusion, and broadening participation in these fields. The initiative is developing a National Network composed of NSF INCLUDES Design and Development Launch Pilots, NSF INCLUDES Alliances, NSF-funded broadening participation projects, other relevant NSF-funded projects, scholars engaged in broadening participation research, and other organizations that support the development of talent from all sectors of society to build the STEM workforce. To facilitate the Network's operation, the program is soliciting proposals for a NSF INCLUDES Coordination Hub that will drive and support the work of the NSF INCLUDES National Network over the lifecycle of the initiative by: (a) promoting the NSF INCLUDES guiding vision and strategy; (b) developing a collaborative infrastructure to support the activities of the various entities partnering in the NSF INCLUDES National Network; (c) fostering progress among Network partners toward shared models, measurement practices, and evaluation criteria; (d) communicating the discoveries of and generating enthusiasm for the NSF INCLUDES National Network; and (e) advancing the expansion and scale of the NSF INCLUDES National Network by connecting expertise from multiple sectors and other private and public funders.

In selecting projects for funding, the Foundation seeks proposals for original initiatives led by outstanding individuals or teams.  We are interested in projects that have a high expected return to society, exhibit a high degree of methodological rigor, and for which funding from the private sector, government, or other foundations is not yet widely available.

The U.S. Department of State, Bureau of Democracy, Human Rights and Labor (DRL) announces an open competition for organizations interested in submitting applications for projects that advance human rights and rule of law; support civil society engagement and leadership on peacebuilding, coexistence, and conflict mitigation in Syria; provide support for survivors of torture and sexual and gender-based violence (SGBV); and promote peaceful coexistence, transitional justice, and accountability.

Since 1980, the United States-Japan Foundation has supported projects that have involved more than five thousand pre-college teachers in the U.S. and Japan in mutual study and learning on topics related to the U.S.-Japan relationship, including in-depth study of the culture, society, and history of both countries. Through these teachers, as well as through a variety of curriculum materials, Web-based collaborative activities, and partnerships between U.S. and Japanese schools, tens of thousands of young people in both countries have begun to study and understand their mutual connections and the importance of the friendship and partnership that binds the two nations so closely. Through its Pre-College Education Program, USJF supports activities that take advantage of new technology to bring Japanese and American teachers and students together; build human networks among teachers on both sides of the Pacific with a mutual interest in teaching and learning about Japan, the U.S., and U.S.-Japan relations, particularly in the fields of social studies and Japanese-language instruction; and/or invest in regions that have been underserved in terms of exposure to and resources for learning about the other country. The foundation also supports programs that enlist experts at institutions of higher learning and other NGOs in support of U.S.-Japan studies programs at the elementary, middle, and high school levels in both countries; present the products of research and policy studies and media programs on U.S.-Japan issues to an audience of pre-college students and their teachers; and enhance, expand, and preserve the study of the Japanese language at the pre-college level in the United States through teacher professional development opportunities, national standards, and performance assessments.

The U.S. Mission in Iraq announces an open competition for eligible organizations to submit proposals for a grant to implement the U.S.-Iraqi Think Tank Linkage Program for Iraqi Academics and Commentators program. The Public Affairs (PA) Section seeks to connect an influential group of Iraqi think tank representatives with their counterparts in the United States. This program would send ten (10) academics and Iraqi media commentators, selected by Embassy PA staff, to the United States for a ten (10) day exchange program to meet with representatives of American think tanks, U.S. government representatives, and international and media organizations. Topics to be covered include the role of think tanks and policy research institutions in U.S. society, the collaboration of think tanks with educational institutions, NGOs, and government branches, U.S.-Iraq bilateral relations in the post-ISIS era, the continued International Coalition role in Iraq post-ISIS, investment opportunities in Iraq for American companies, Iraqi Prime Minister Abadi's anti-corruption and national reconciliation efforts, and relations between the Iraqi federal government in Baghdad and the Iraqi Kurdistan Regional Government. Subject to the availability of funds, the Embassy expects to award one Grant up to $100,000 to carry out the U.S.-Iraqi Think Tank Linkage Program.

Raise awareness and understanding of science and technology and their potential to address a global challenge. Request for Proposals: For 2018, the IEEE Foundation Grants Program will invest approximately $304,000 to raise awareness and understanding of science and technology and their potential to address a global challenge. Proposals are invited from IEEE Organizational Units for projects that promote public understanding about how science and technology are being or could be used to address global challenges - including energy, cybersecurity, security, health care, and sustainability. The U.S. Embassy in Moldova seeks to support independent voices in the Moldovan media landscape through the development of good quality local production capacity in the Republic of Moldova in the interests of plurality of views and editorial independence. Specifically, this initiative seeks to support the development of the community of filmmakers and digital content creators who use their medium to present an alternative vision of Moldovan society and culture. The U.S. Embassy seeks a qualified implementing partner that will select, mentor and monitor a series of sub-grantees from the Moldovan creative community.The project will include two major components: 1. Planning and administration of sub-grantees applying for production related initiatives. The grant recipient must solicit applications from emerging or established Moldovan filmmakers, NGOs and creative studios based on an open competition, and select participants based on merit, potential and proposed project goals and outcome. 2. Mentorship of filmmakers, studios and NGOs that successfully pass the selection stage for film production, film festivals, and other non-news production projects. Grant recipient need to mentor the funds recipients in all the cycles of the projects: Planning, Script writing (where necessary), Pitching, Production, Distribution, Fundraising etc. The funding competitions to be announced by the grant recipient of this funding opportunity should be opened to individuals and entities from/registered in the Republic of Moldova and can include different formats, i.e. documentary, narrative, animation, or experimental formats. The themes and goals shall be discussed together with the U.S. Embassy team and the grant recipient.

Building mutual understanding is a cornerstone of U.S. foreign policy abroad. Through the explanation and presentation of U.S policies, values, culture and history, U.S. embassies and consulates abroad seek to tell America's story. To that end, the U.S. Mission to China (Embassy Beijing and Consulates General Chengdu, Guangzhou, Shanghai, Shenyang, and Wuhan) seeks to support activities that, whether through existing partnerships between eligible U.S. institutions and their Chinese counterparts or through new ties, explain American foreign policy, values and culture to the people of China.
