    This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits one five-year grant application from institutions/organizations to serve as the Coordination Center (CC) for the Programs to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE) Summer Institute programs This FOA runs parallel with a separate FOA that solicits applications for the PRIDE Summer Institutes(See RFA-HL-17-NNN). PRIDE Summer Institute (SI) programs are designed to provide research education experiences that enable junior faculty and postdoctoral scientists transitioning into academia, and from backgrounds underrepresented in the biomedical sciences, to further develop their research skills and knowledge to become competitive NIH grants applicants and scientists. The purpose of the CC is primarily to support and complement the activities of the Summer Institutes as follows: * Facilitate outreach, participant recruitment, candidate selection, and program-wide organization * Support and assist with the identification and orientation of SI program mentors * Support matriculants research education experiences through webinar and in person learning activities * Administrate and facilitate equitable distributions of research related resources and activities * Facilitate coordination of research education and evaluation activities between the SI awardees, enrolled participants and the NHLBI * Develop orientation and support other skill development activities for mentors * Support mentoring of program participants by assisting the SIs with the formation of participants' mentorship committees; * Conduct cross-site and cross-program evaluations, including use of data from previous PRIDE cohorts to document program accomplishments, trends and trajectories.

Framework for Addressing Culture Resource Vulnerabilities in the NPS IMR Region - 0 views

    The goal of this cooperative project is to develop an NPS framework to identify and address vulnerabilities of cultural resources to environmental stresses and weathering, with a focus on resources in the NPS Intermountain Region (IMR). The project will be implemented in three phases corresponding to three distinct scopes: Impacts Analysis (Phase I, in progress â¿¿ funded in FY18), Adaptation and Mitigation Strategy Development (Phase II â¿¿ funded in FY18, current scope of work), and Scenario Planning (Phase III â¿¿ funded in FY19) . The specific objective of this task agreement is to complete Phase II, Adaptation and Mitigation Strategies Development. This project will build on data collected and analyzed through Phase I (Impacts Analysis; P16AC01463).

    The Major Research Instrumentation (MRI) Program serves to increase access to multi-user scientific and engineering instrumentation for research and research training in our Nation's institutions of higher education and not-for-profit scientific/engineering research organizations. An MRI award supports the acquisition or development of a multi-user research instrument that is, in general, too costly and/or not appropriate for support through other NSF programs. MRI provides support to acquire critical research instrumentation without which advances in fundamental science and engineering research may not otherwise occur. MRI also provides support to develop next-generation research instruments that open new opportunities to advance the frontiers in science and engineering research. Additionally, an MRI award is expected to enhance research training of students who will become the next generation of instrument users, designers and builders. An MRI proposal may request up to $4 million for either acquisition or development of a research instrument. Beginning with the FY 2018 competition, each performing organization may submit in revised "Tracks" as defined below, with no more than two submissions in Track 1 and no more than one submission in Track 2.rack 1: Track 1 MRI proposals are those that request funds from NSF greater than or equal to $100,000.     The aim of the Changemakers in Family Planning grant is to respond to institutionalized racism in the field of family planning by providing dedicated support for awardees to expand research skills and expertise.     This FOA encourages research on stigma, particularly in health conditions, settings, and populations where it is not well characterized although the burden is high, and/or where the development and implementation of interventions to reduce its detrimental effects are now possible.  The R21 mechanism is intended to encourage new exploratory and developmental research projects. For example, such projects could assess the feasibility of a novel area of investigation or a new experimental system that has the potential to enhance health-related research. Another example could include the unique and innovative use of an existing methodology to explore a new scientific area. These studies may involve considerable risk but may lead to a breakthrough in a particular area, or to the development of novel techniques, agents, methodologies, models, or applications that could have a major impact on a field of biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research.  Applications submitted under this mechanism should be exploratory and novel.     The Global Health Research Innovation Center (GHRIC) is pleased to announce a call for proposals for faculty research grants. These grants are designed to foster the development of research initiatives and partnership projects in global health. Grants will be made to Miami faculty to undertake small-scale, collaborative pilot research projects in global health and/or travel (of Miami faculty or domestic/international collaborators) to cultivate research relationships through establishing institutional linkages and jointly developing or writing research proposals. The expectation is that at least one outcome of each project will be the submission of an external grant proposal. Proposed projects must involve at least two Miami faculty members from different departments. Budgets are expected to be between $4000-$8000. We expect to award at least 2 grants for the 2016-2017 academic year. If funded, additional funding of up to $1000 may be available to help support presentation of the proposed project at either the annual conference of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health or the Global Health and Innovation Conference (Unite for Sight).

    AGEP is committed to the national goal of increasing the numbers of underrepresented minorities (URMs), including those with disabilities, entering and completing science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) graduate education and postdoctoral training to levels representative of the available pool.     The Department of Navy (DoN) Historically Black Colleges and Universities/Minority Institutions (HBCU/MI) Program aims to increase the quantity and quality of minority professionals in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) in the defense community. Research conducted at Minority-Serving Institutions (MSIs) for the DoN HBCU/MI Program: * Enhances the research and educational capabilities of HBCU/MIs in scientific and engineering disciplines critical to the defense mission of the DoN, * Encourages cross-institutional, collaborative participation of HBCU/MIs in naval-relevant research, development, testing, and evaluation (RDT&E), and * Increases the engagement of students, including underrepresented minorities, in STEM fields important to the defense mission. This FOA is executed under policy and guidance of the DoN HBCU/MI Program and is administered by the Office of Naval Research (ONR). This FOA seeks to support research efforts that will contribute to the science and technology (S&T) mission and vision of the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Marine Corps while simultaneously expanding the research capacity of participant institutions and engaging students in STEM. In that regard, this FOA is intended for white papers and invited proposals from HBCU/MIs exploring basic, naval-relevant research.
