The Public Affairs Section (PAS) of U.S. Embassy Ulaanbaatar, U.S. Department of State, is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Public Diplomacy Local Grants Program. This Annual Program Statement outlines funding priorities and the procedures for submitting funding requests. Please carefully follow all instructions below.Purpose of Local Grants: PAS awards a limited number of grants to individuals, non-governmental organizations, think tanks, and academic institutions to support cultural, artistic, educational, and other exchanges and projects to improve mutual understanding between the United States and Mongolia and build people-to-people ties. PAS will only consider grant proposals that include an American component or element.

To that end, grants are awarded to nonprofit organizations for learning disability-related projects focused on scientific, literary, or educational outcomes, or for the identification, ongoing evaluation, education of, and delivery of services to children and adults with learning disabilities. Examples of project areas that fall within these guidelines include innovative research into the causes, prevention, and/or alleviation of learning disabilities; distinctive public awareness programs that advance public understanding of the needs of persons with learning disabilities; and innovative programs that advance the achievement of persons with learning disabilities, increase the support skills of their families, support academic and professional advisors, and/or enhance the understanding of learning disabilities by colleagues and employers.

The Administration on Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities (AIDD) within the Administration for Community Living (ACL), U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) forecasts the possible availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2017 funds to make five-year grants to up to forty- two entities designated as University Centers for Excellence in Developmental Disabilities Education, Research, and Service (UCEDD). These grantees carry out four core functions: (1) interdisciplinary pre-service preparation and continuing education of students; (2) community services, including training, technical assistance, and/or demonstration and model activities; (3) research; and (4) dissemination of information. UCEDDs are interdisciplinary education, research and public service units of universities, or public or not-for-profit entities associated with universities that implement the four core functions addressing, directly or indirectly, one or more of the areas of emphasis (e.g., quality assurance, education and early intervention, child care, health, employment, housing, transportation, recreation and other services available or offered to individuals in a community, including formal and informal community supports, that affect their quality of life).

The Westinghouse Charitable Giving Program provides financial support in one or more areas, including education (with a focus on STEM disciplines), environmental sustainability, and community safety and vitality. 1) STEM Education: Grants support education programs that improve knowledge and literacy, with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math. 2) Environmental Sustainability: Grants support programs with the goal of preserving or restoring land, improving air or water quality, or biodiversity. 3) Community Safety and Vitality: Grants support programs that improve the overall quality of life within a community by supporting initiatives that enhance safety and public well-being. 1) STEM Education: Grants support education programs that improve knowledge and literacy, with a focus on science, technology, engineering, and math. 2) Environmental Sustainability: Grants support programs with the goal of preserving or restoring land, improving air or water quality, or biodiversity. 3) Community Safety and Vitality: Grants support programs that improve the overall quality of life within a community by supporting initiatives that enhance safety and public well-being. 

Fellows receive an annual stipend of $30,000 for up to two years for completion of their dissertation and related research at their academic institution. Up to fifteen fellowships are awarded annually. Fellows must be enrolled in a doctoral program at an accredited academic institution in the United States and are selected from a range of academic disciplines, including but not limited to social work, public health, medicine, public policy, education, economics, psychology, and epidemiology.

NRCS, an agency under the USDA, in the Missouri State Office, is seeking to partner with, and support the efforts of, natural resource conservation partners and to promote public awareness and implementation of Farm Bill activities including, but not limited to, conducting conservation outreach workshops, conferences, and training, that will help educate Missouri's farm community, private landowners, conservation organizations, cooperating agencies, and general citizenry. This notice identifies the objectives, eligibility criteria, and application instructions. Applications will be screened for completeness and compliance with the provisions of this notice. Incomplete and/or noncompliant applications will be eliminated from competition and notification of elimination will be sent to the applicant. The Missouri State Conservationist reserves the right not to fund any or all applications. We call for proposals to investigate key challenges faced by literacy, communication, rhetoric, and writing instructors and administrators in their classrooms and programs. Proposals should directly address the impact that their research might have on disciplinary and public conversations about these topics. They must also convey results in at least two final products: one that is addressed to a scholarly audience of researchers and teachers in the field and one for a clearly specified audience beyond those in the field. This year's research topics focus on persistent gaps in our research as we seek evidence to support new and revised position statements related to these issues, particularly evidence that can be made available to and inform public stakeholders outside of academic audiences: Understanding the implications of class size Grading diverse learners in classrooms that enact students' right to their own languages Assessing students' transfer of writing knowledge from dual-credit programs Working with diverse learners in writing and communication programs (e.g., neurodiversity, linguistic diversity, economic diversity, sociocultural diversity) Centering writing and communication research in two-year colleges Developing and engaging literacy in diverse contexts (e.g., K-12 classrooms, workplaces, churches, bars, prisons, sporting events, courts) and navigating the relationship between these contexts

The goal of this Federal Funding Opportunity (FFO) is to support the education of K-12 students and the public so they are knowledgeable of the ways in which their community can become more resilient to extreme weather events and/or other environmental hazards, and become involved in achieving that resilience. Many U.S. communities are increasingly contending with issues related to preventing, withstanding, and recovering from disruptions caused by extreme weather and other environmental hazards (U.S. Department of Commerce FY2014-FY2018 Strategic Plan). These hazards include but are not limited to severe storms, tornadoes, hurricanes, flooding, heavy precipitation events, persistent drought, heat waves, increased global temperatures, acidification of the ocean, and sea level rise (Weather-ready Nation: NOAA's National Weather Service Strategic Plan 2011; Melillo et al., 2014). These extreme weather and climate events put stress on infrastructure, ecological systems, and the humans that live in the impacted places. U.S. communities can become more resilient to such events by exploring the hazards they face, assessing their specific vulnerabilities and risks, considering options, prioritizing and planning, and finally taking action (U.S. Climate Resilience Toolkit). This process is typically performed by scientists and municipal planners, but in order for resilience to occur, other members of a community must have some understanding of the hazards they face and how to mitigate them, both at the individual and the community level.

In carrying out its grant programs, the Institute provides support for programs of research in areas of demonstrated national need. The Institute's National Center for Education Research (NCER) will hold five competitions: One competition for education research, one competition for education research training, one competition for education research and development centers, one competition for statistical and research methodology in education, and one competition for partnerships and collaborations focused on problems of practice or policy. The Institute's National Center for Special Education Research (NCSER) will not hold competitions in FY 2014.

The NPS is the lead federal agency assigned the principal responsibility for administering three federal historic documentation programs: the Historic American Buildings Survey (HABS), the Historic American Engineering Record (HAER), and the Historic American Landscape Survey (HALS). The documentation programs and their associated collections are among the largest and most heavily used in the Prints and Photographs Division of the Library of Congress. The collections document achievements in architecture, engineering, and design in the United States and its territories through a comprehensive range of building types and engineering technologies.These federal documentation programs have recorded America's built environment in multi-format surveys comprising more than 556,900 measured drawings, large-format photographs, and written histories for more than 38,600 historic structures and sites dating from Pre-Columbian times to the twentieth century. Through this agreement, the NPS , Intermountain Region, is seeking to work with a cooperator to expand the documentation of heritage sites to include: producing 3D high definition digital documentation of resources through LiDAR scanning, photogrammetry and other state-of-the-art technologies, including 3D point clouds, 3D visualizations, 3D models, 3D reconstructions, 3D virtual tours and 3D animated fly-throughs; training and employing students to produce 3D digital documentation; developing educational and interpretive content associated with the 3D digital images; creating virtual learning opportunities through web-based applications for research; archiving and managing digital data in accordance with National Archives and Records Administration (NARA) standards; providing free access to the data via a website designed for use by the general public; and hosting and maintaining that website.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia is now accepting proposals for a new grant called the Saudi-American Educational and Cultural Initiative Grants (SAECIG) and is for Saudi and U.S. non-governmental and community organizations, universities, entrepreneurs, cultural organizations or qualified individuals who propose to work together to develop or expand educational, professional and cultural exchange activities and promote dialogue and partnership between the people of the United States and the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The new grant will support innovative forms of collaboration to expand the diversity of activities in the U.S.-Saudi partnership and develop the next generation of leaders, especially among youth, young professionals and women, and to promote mutual understanding and respect through long-term partnership and cooperation between our two countries.

The foundation awards individual grants of up to $1,000 to any K-5 teacher in a public or private nonprofit school to support hands-on science or math education projects. The funds are for project-related materials only. The foundation strongly encourages projects planned and led by individual teachers or teams of teachers for their own classrooms.

The New Civics initiative invites research proposals that ask critical questions about how education can more effectively contribute to the civic development of young people. As a start, we ask what experiences, environments, and contexts help young people, from all walks of life, develop the habits, skills, understandings, and dispositions that encourage informed participation in civic affairs. In so doing we seek to connect to a tradition of civic education inside schools, both to reassert its legitimacy as a primary aim of public schooling, and to reimagine what civic education might include. Yet civic development also occurs outside classrooms and schools, and we underscore our interest in research about civic action and learning in those contexts as well. Our ultimate aim is to contribute to educational improvement by supporting high-quality research studies that can lead to better-designed, more effective programs, policies, practices, and settings that prepare young people to act and to do so in informed and reasoned ways.
