The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders by funding, catalyzing, and driving research of the greatest quality. The program is seeking applications for SFARI awards from individuals who will conduct bold, imaginative, rigorous, and relevant research. Applications are invited for two categories of grants, including SFARI Pilot Awards and SFARI Pilot Awards. 1) SFARI Pilot Awards: These grants are intended for innovative, high-impact proposals requesting support for small-scale projects or early-stage experiments that will build on preliminary data or a prior track record and lead to competitive applications for funding by SFARI or other organizations. Investigators new to the field of autism are encouraged to apply. The maximum budget is $330,000 (including indirect costs) over two years. 2) SFARI Research Awards: Grants awarded through this category are designed for investigators with demonstrated expertise conducting compelling high-impact research on an experimental hypothesis for which, in most cases, preliminary data have already been gathered. The foundation also will consider projects focused on a central hypothesis where success depends on close collaboration between two or more labs. The initiative expects to fund proposals for a maximum of $975,000 over to three years. With support from the National Science Foundation (NSF) and the National Center for Education Statistics (NCES), the Association for Institutional Research (AIR) operates a grant program that supports research on a wide range of issues of critical importance to U.S. higher education. To qualify for funding, proposal submissions must use data from one or more of the national datasets of NCES or NSF listed in the grant guidelines.  Additional large-scale, nationally representative datasets may be used in conjunction with the obligatory NSF or NCES dataset. The Office of Refugee Resettlement (ORR) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) invites eligible entities to submit competitive grant applications for projects to establish and manage Individual Development Accounts (IDAs) for low-income refugee participants. Eligible refugee participants who enroll in these projects will open and contribute systematically to IDAs for specified Savings Goals, including home ownership, business capitalization, vehicles for educational or work purposes, professional certification, and education (limited to postsecondary and/or continuing education, college entrance exam fees, Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) and GED preparation and test fees). Grantee organizations may use ORR funds to provide matches for the savings in the IDAs of up to $2,000 per individual refugee and $4,000 per refugee household. Applications will be screened and evaluated as indicated in the published funding opportunity announcement. Selection of awards will be contingent on the outcome of the competition and the availability of funds. The “match” mentioned in this announcement does not refer to the applicant finding additional funds to match funds being provided by the Federal government; it is the portion of federal funds to be allocated for matching clients' IDA savings. Successful grantees will be expected to coordinate their policies and procedures for developing and administering refugee IDA projects with ORR and with the existing refugee IDA network.

The Children's Theatre Foundation of America's grantmaking focus is on theatre for children and youth, the utilization of drama or theatre in education for children grades K-12, and development opportunities for theatre artists working in the area of children's theatre in the United States. The Foundation's Aurand Harris Grants and Fellowship Fund supports small and mid-sized nonprofit theatres that are engaged in a new initiative for a particular company or a new original play for children and youth. Professional theatre artists working in theatre for young audiences may also apply for support in the development of their artistic excellence. The Office of Global Educational Programs of the Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs, U.S. Department of State, is pleased to announce an open competition for proposals to advance the Bureau's objectives of mutual understanding between the people of the United States and those of other countries, specifically through greater U.S. student mobility, through the administration of the FY 2015 Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad. This competition is a component of the Department's engagement on expanding and diversifying U.S. study abroad through its new U.S. study abroad unit. Under this cooperative agreement, the selected recipient will provide administrative support services, monitoring, evaluation, and programmatic advising and support to sub-recipients for the execution of ECA's FY 2015 Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad. In close consultation with ECA, the recipient will run a nationwide competition to provide awards averaging approximately $50,000 to between 17 to 20 accredited U.S. higher education institutions (HEIs) to create or expand their U.S. study abroad programs under outlined diversity goals. None of the funding may be used for student scholarships. The recipient will monitor the fiscal and programmatic progress of sub-recipients and their projects with regular reporting of results to ECA. The Capacity-Building Program for U.S. Undergraduate Study Abroad should be designed to create or expand the capacity of U.S. HEIs to administer study abroad programs under diversity goals, whether broadening the student population who studies abroad and/or the destinations in which they study.
