The Brady Education Foundation seeks to close the achievement/opportunity gap for children at risk for poor school outcomes due to environmental factors associated with poverty. To advance this mission, the foundation is accepting stage-one applications for projects related to the development and evaluation of programs that are consistent with a strength-based approach and show promise of being feasible, effective, and sustainable. 1) Program Development: One-year grants will be awarded to projects aimed at developing and testing the feasibility of new programs that promote positive cognitive and/or achievement outcomes for children (birth through 18 years) from underserved groups and/or low-resourced communities. Priority will be given to programs/projects that represent strong collaborative relationships between researchers, practitioners, and other community stakeholders (as appropriate), and where the community/population being studied is reflected by the composition of the project's leadership team; programs/projects consistent with strength-based approaches rather than deficit models; programs/projects that leverage other funding; and/or programs/projects that, in addition to showing promise of being effective, show promise of being affordable, accessible, and sustainable. Past Program Development grants have ranged between $25,000 and $276,000.

Energy company Constellation believes that providing quality educational opportunities and career development are among the most important tools it can provide to communities to help them succeed over the long term.  To that end, the company is accepting grant applications for local community projects designed to inspire students to think differently about energy. Grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded for projects at the 6-12 grade level and up to $50,000 for projects at the college level. Projects should be team-oriented, learning-focused, hands-on demonstration projects that generate specific results and reach a minimum of a hundred students. 

A Community Thrives is a new approach to social impact programs that was developed through a collaboration across the entire USA TODAY NETWORK. While most initiatives designate funds or give support to great charities, we're going to instead fund and support great ideas. The volunteering begins with you pitching your creative solutions to solving our communities' most critical needs.

The program supports efforts to bring together scholars whose knowledge, theoretical insight, and methodological expertise can be assembled in ways that build on and reach beyond familiar modes of thinking concerning problems in education research, specifically those related to the area of teaching and learning. Through the program, the foundation aims to encourage the research community to advance new and rigorous research in this subfield and to ultimately increase collaboration within the educational research community.

The purpose of this funding opportunity is to identify health care and clinic practices that are associated with the best outcomes for people living with spina bifida (SB) and to communicate and encourage adoption of best practices by SB clinics including providing needed educational/informational resources for the SB patient and provider communities, health care professionals, families, and educators.

BLM has an opportunity to work with a partner organization to assist BLM with partnership with local schools and communities bordering public lands, the BLMâ¿¿s 93 Hands on the Land sites offer the premier formal education programs within the agency, allowing nearly 100,000 students to access and experience BLM public lands in Fiscal Year 2017 alone. The BLMâ¿¿s Washington Office, Division of Education, Interpretation, and Partnerships has funding to collaborate with a partner to provide leadership and support to the BLMâ¿¿s 93 Hands on the Land (HOL) sites and connect them with the existing interagency HOL National Network of outdoor classrooms. Integrating the BLMâ¿¿s HOL sites into the interagency HOL National Network will provide agency sites with the multi-level support they need to foster and expand relationships with local communities and schools, improve coordination with other Federal agencies, expand access to public lands for students and their families, and introduce students and teachers to the concepts of multiple-use management and balanced conservation stewardship of public lands.

The Honeybee Conservancy is inviting applications for in-kind grants to help organizations or schools safely set up, maintain, and observe on-site bee sanctuaries at schools, community gardens, and green spaces across the United States. Through its Sponsor-A-Hive program, the conservancy will award grants in the form of honey or solitary bees, their homes, beekeeping equipment, and information on how to care for the bees. With the assistance of the conservancy, bees are placed strategically in locations where they can bolster local bee populations, advance science and environmental education, and pollinate locally grown food. The conservancy will also provide a Sponsor-A-Hive Teacher's Kit, which includes lesson plans and worksheets designed to teach students more about their bee home and build their reading and science skills, raise their environmental awareness, and empower them to help the bees. To be eligible, applicants must be located in the United States and be a nonprofit organization; elementary, middle, or high school; college or university; tribal education agency; environmental center; or a food bank or community garden that does not charge a membership fee. In addition, applicant organizations must have been in existence for at least a year to be eligible to receive materials.

The purpose of this Federal Funding Opportunity (FFO) is to build capacity for environmental literacy in support of National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) mission goals through a cooperative agreement with a non-profit organization. In order to further the efforts of the external community that supports NOAA's environmental literacy-related priorities, NOAA is seeking a partnership with a nonprofit organization with a mission of environmental education and/or conservation to work with NOAA to implement formal and informal education efforts, outreach, and professional development in support of environmental literacy. The successful applicant will be supported through a 5-year cooperative agreement with NOAA and should have significant experience supporting environmental literacy, as well as capacity to convene meetings and workshops, manage small-scale grants, and support program evaluation. Experience facilitating partnerships, developing education and outreach materials, and implementing educator professional development is also preferred. Specific activities will be determined collaboratively with NOAA and will further the efforts of the external community to build environmental literacy through informal and formal education. Projects will support NOAA's mission in the areas of ocean, coastal, Great Lakes, weather, and climate sciences and stewardship as defined by the goals of the NOAA Education Strategic Plan 2015-2035

The Promise Neighborhoods program is newly authorized under the Elementary and Secondary Education Act of 1965 (ESEA), as amended by the Every Succeeds Act (ESSA). The purpose of the Promise Neighborhoods program is to significantly improve the academic and developmental outcomes of children living in the most distressed communities of the United States, including ensuring school readiness, high school graduation, and access to a community-based continuum of high-quality services. The program serves neighborhoods with high concentrations of low-income individuals; multiple signs of distress, which may include high rates of poverty, childhood obesity, academic failure, and juvenile delinquency, adjudication, or incarceration; and schools implementing comprehensive support and improvement activities or targeted support and improvement activities under section 1111(d) of the ESEA.

The primary goal of the funding opportunity is to engage English teachers in training programs that will strengthen English teaching quality and capacity in the Dominican Republic. The target population for this training program will be public school teachers, teachers from the Ministry of Higher Education's English Immersion Program and teachers from the binational centers (Instituto Cultural Dominico-Americano and Centro Cultural Dominico-Americano). Institutions should include a description of the interview and selection procedures and assessment methods for the proposed training program(s). Participants and Audiences: a. License at least five teachers or teacher trainers as TESOL Trainers Target audience: Teachers or Supervisors/Teacher Trainers from the Instituto Cultural Dominico-Americano's Teacher Training Center and/or English School b. Train at least 80 English pre-service teachers and/or in-service teachers in the communicative approach in support of the new English curriculum implemented by the Ministry of Education of the Dominican Republic in the northern, eastern, southern and/or capital region. Target audience: Pre-service teachers attending local universities, including UASD and ISFODOSU, and/or in-service teachers from the Ministry of Education c. NSF's Directorate for Engineering (ENG) and the Directorate for Computer and Information Science and Engineering (CISE) have joined to support the Research Experiences for Teachers (RET) in Engineering and Computer Science program. This program supports active long-term collaborative partnerships between K-12 Science, Technology, Engineering, Computer and Information Science, and Mathematics (STEM) in-service and pre-service teachers, full-time community college faculty, and university faculty and students to enhance the scientific disciplinary knowledge and capacity of the STEM teachers and/or community college faculty through participation in authentic summer research experiences with engineering and computer science faculty researchers. The research projects and experiences all revolve around a focused research area related to engineering and/or computer science that will provide a common cohort experience to the participating educators.

NRCS, an agency under the USDA, in the Missouri State Office, is seeking to partner with, and support the efforts of, natural resource conservation partners and to promote public awareness and implementation of Farm Bill activities including, but not limited to, conducting conservation outreach workshops, conferences, and training, that will help educate Missouri's farm community, private landowners, conservation organizations, cooperating agencies, and general citizenry. This notice identifies the objectives, eligibility criteria, and application instructions. Applications will be screened for completeness and compliance with the provisions of this notice. The project will promote the development of English language, classroom pedagogy, community engagement and leadership skills of the participants through first-hand experience and networking with English language teaching peers in the United States. Through teamwork activities, the program will develop participants' classroom, leadership, communication skills, and teacher trainer skills. In addition to enhancing the participants' ability to implement effective English language programs in Pakistan, the exchange program will provide participants a better understanding of the United States, its people, and its democratic values. By the end of the English Language Teaching Exchanges, approximately 50 Pakistani English language teachers from government or foundation schools from undeserved areas will further develop their pedagogic expertise in teaching English language, improve their own English language proficiency, and increase their knowledge about the United States.

The challenge of preparing citizens for the expanding workforce and the changing workplace environments calls for new innovations in STEM education [2]. ITEST is a research and development program that supports projects to promote PreK-12 student interests and capacities to participate in the STEM and information and communications technology (ICT) workforce of the future. The ITEST program supports research on the design, development, implementation, and selective spread of innovative strategies for engaging students in technology-rich experiences that: (1) increase student awareness of STEM occupations; (2) motivate students to pursue appropriate education pathways to STEM occupations; or (3) develop disciplinary-based knowledge and practices, or promote critical thinking, reasoning skills, or communication skills needed for entering STEM workforce sectors.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) supports high impact efforts to make resources available to neuroscience researchers. Projects should engage in one or more of the following activities: facilitating access to cutting edge reagents or techniques, dissemination of resources to new user groups, or innovative approaches to increase the scale/efficiency of resource production and delivery. Applications focused primarily on technology or software development are not responsive to this FOA, as the focus is on dissemination or provision of resources. Use of existing technologies to develop new reagents or genetic lines of significant value to the research community may be appropriate. Projects should address compelling needs of broad communities of neuroscience researchers or should offer unique services that otherwise would be unavailable. Projects must support the NINDS mission.

The Organization for Autism Research is inviting applications for its Graduate Research Grant program. Established in 2004, the grant program is intended to encourage and support students conducting research pursuant to graduate and post-graduate studies in disciplines related to assessment, intervention, and support of learners with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded for projects related to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of assessment models, treatment models, or service systems; applied aspects of early and/or school-based education, behavioral, or communication intervention; adult issues such as containing education, employment, housing models and later intervention; and/or issues related to family support, social and community integration, and assessment and intervention with challenging behavior. Priority will be given to studies that will likely produce practical and clearly objective results that may aid parents, families, professionals, and people with autism to make more fully informed choices that will lead to healthier and happier lives. International students are eligible to apply.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration for Native Americans (ANA) announces the availability of Fiscal Year (FY) 2018 funds for the Native American Language Preservation and Maintenance program. The Native Language Preservation and Maintenance program provides funding for projects to support assessments of the status of the native languages in an established community, as well as the planning, designing, restoration, and implementing of native language curriculum and education projects to support a community's language preservation goals. Native American communities include American Indian tribes (federally-recognized and non-federally recognized), Native Hawaiians, Alaskan Natives, and Native American Pacific Islanders.

The Teagle Foundation and the Arthur Vining Davis Foundations are jointly sponsoring the Transfer Pathways to the Liberal Arts initiative to support building comprehensive curricular frameworks between community colleges and independent colleges to ensure alignment in learning objectives between lower and upper division coursework; transferability and applicability of credits; and timely completion of the baccalaureate in the liberal arts. We give priority to projects that involve multiple four-year independent colleges coming together with community college partners to develop statewide, regional, or consortial approaches to promote transfer in the liberal arts. Proposals for bilateral agreements between pairs of institutions will not be considered.

As part of NSF's Cyberinfrastructure Framework for 21st Century Science and Engineering (CIF21) activity, the Directorate for Education and Human Resources (EHR) seeks to enable research communities to develop visions, teams, and capabilities dedicated to creating new, large-scale, next-generation data resources and relevant analytic techniques to advance fundamental research for areas of research covered by EHR programs. Successful proposals will outline activities that will have significant impacts across multiple fields by enabling new types of data-intensive research. Investigators should think broadly and create a vision that extends intellectually across multiple disciplines and that includes-but is not necessarily limited to - areas of research funded by EHR.
