This Funding Opportunity Announcement invites applications to establish Centers of Excellence for Self-Management Research: Building Research Teams for the Future (P20). The purpose of the program is to enhance interdisciplinary, biobehavioral research for scientists conducting self-management research by enabling development of a sustainable research infrastructure and centralized resources in support of research programs in various science areas. The purpose of the P20 Center is to: (1) develop new and a potential sustainable interdisciplinary, biobehavioral research capacity for scientists conducting nursing research by establishing centralized research resources and a research infrastructure; (2) build the Centers thematic science area through complementary, synergistic research activities; and (3) begin to grow feasibility research that will develop into new research teams of the future and independent investigator research applications.

This award provides funding support for experienced researchers with recognized productivity - either within or outside the eczema field - to conduct highly innovative, cutting-edge investigations related to eczema. Data from this award can then be used to seek additional, larger-scale funding from the National Institutes of Health (NIH) or other funding entities to build on these discoveries. Eczema Champion Research Grants facilitate trail-blazing research by established investigators who have built a life-long career in eczema research, as well as thought leaders from other areas of study that can bring additional new perspectives to the research forefront. This award also serves as a bridge for previous successful NEA Catalyst Research Award recipients by providing a funding mechanism to stay in the eczema research field and strengthen their research program and commitment to advancing our understanding of this serious disease. The TriService Nursing Research Program (TSNRP) was founded in 1992 and funds and supports rigorous scientific research studies and evidence-based practice (EBP) projects in the field of military nursing. TSNRP is located within the Uniformed Services University of the Health Sciences (USU) which is authorized by 10 USC 2113(g)(1)(A) to make grants to any nonprofit entity for the purpose of carrying out cooperative enterprises in medical research, medical consultation, and medical education. TSNRP supports nurse scientists in all stages of their careers through research funding, education, and mentoring. Since its inception, TSNRP has funded over 430 research and EBP projects; 19 applications were successfully funded in Fiscal Year 2016. The mission of TSNRP is to facilitate nursing research to optimize the health of military members and their beneficiaries, with the following the five strategic goals: 1. Advance a culture of scientific inquiry and scholarly knowledge application. 2. Advocate mission critical priorities by building a military nursing research science base. 3. Expand infrastructure to support and develop nursing research and EBP. 4. Invest in military nurse scientists and programs of research. 5. Foster interservice nursing research capacity.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) encourages the submission of applications that propose to conduct research that is of high-priority to NCCAM that requires synergistic collaboration between outstanding scientists and the synthesis of multiple research approaches by multi-disciplinary research teams. The Center of Excellence for Research on CAM (CERC) program is designed to support research in which the funding of three or four synergistic, highly meritorious projects as a group offers significant scientific advantages over support of the same projects as individual research grants. Each CERC must consist of, throughout the duration of the award, a minimum of three research projects, focused on basic, mechanistic, and/or translational research questions relevant to the research priorities described in the current NCCAM Strategic Plan.

The purpose of the Academic Research Enhancement Award (AREA) program is to stimulate research in educational institutions that provide baccalaureate or advanced degrees for a significant number of the Nation's research scientists, but that have not been major recipients of NIH support. AREA grants create opportunities for scientists and institutions otherwise unlikely to participate extensively in NIH research programs to contribute to the Nation's biomedical and behavioral research effort. AREA grants are intended to support small-scale research projects proposed by faculty members of eligible, domestic institutions, to expose undergraduate and/or graduate students to meritorious research projects, and to strengthen the research environment of the applicant institution.   

The competitive research program emphasizes on maximizing the impact of these research efforts on the overall safety, health, productivity and competitiveness of Ohio's work force.  The program is an open competition for researchers in Ohio's not-for-profit higher education institutions and research organizations. The program provides funding for research projects up to $250,000 per project. The duration of each research project is limited to 12 to 24 months. The deadline for proposal submission is 5 p.m. EST on Jan. 25, 2019.

Founded in 1996, the Marsha Rivkin Center for Ovarian Cancer Research provides funding for multiple efforts, including funding for innovative research pilot studies, scholar grants to up-and-coming investigators to encourage careers in ovarian cancer research, conducting public early detection screening for ovarian cancer, and producing nationally and internationally attended research symposia on ovarian cancer. To that end, the center is accepting applications for pilot study projects in ovarian cancer research. Through the center's Pilot Study Program, approximately ten one-year $75,000 grants will be awarded to support investigator-initiated projects in all areas of ovarian cancer research. Projects designed to analyze data from already funded clinical trials also will be considered. Priority will be given to proposals that are innovative, multidisciplinary, likely to lead to submission of grant applications for independently funded investigations, and have translational research potential.

The intent of the research funded through this award is to (1) support research to alleviate, stabilize, or characterize the symptoms or deficits common to TBI and AD/ADRD, and (2) reduce the burden of care on the caregiver for individuals living with the common symptoms of TBI and AD/ADRD. Research may be proposed to either facet of the intent. Both are equally important. As part of the research strategy, all applications must include cognitive, neuropsychological, or otherwise appropriate measures.The FY17 PRARP QUAL is open to Principal Investigators (PIs) at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent) from any field or discipline. As part of the application, the PI should demonstrate that the study team has experience in both TBI and AD/ADRD research. Preliminary data, while not required, are encouraged. Preliminary data may come from the PI's published work, pilot data, or from peer-reviewed literature. Applications should also address how all of the included study measures address the research strategy and the study's hypothesis or hypotheses.The anticipated direct costs budgeted for the entire period of performance for an FY17 PRARP QUAL will not exceed $500,000. The maximum period of performance is 3 years. The purpose of the High Impact, Interdisciplinary Science grants program is to support high impact ideas that may lay the foundation for new fields of investigation within the mission of NIDDK. The interdisciplinary approach encouraged by this FOA is envisioned to generate a community research resource for the broader community, which may include discovery-based or hypothesis-generating science. The interdisciplinary research team should be able to provide an integrative plan of working together to effectively address the complex challenge at hand. This program will support research projects that accelerate critical breakthroughs, early and applied research on cutting-edge technologies, and new approaches to improve the synergy and interactions among multi- and interdisciplinary research teams, including sharing of data and other resources to further advance research in this area. This FOA seeks novel approaches in areas that address specific knowledge gaps, scientific opportunities, new technologies, data generation, or research methods that will advance the area in significant ways designed to accelerate scientific progress in the understanding, treatment and prevention of diseases within the mission of NIDDK.

This award is intended to stimulate the entry of early-career scientists into areas of research related to eczema, as they seek to become an independent research investigator with a commitment to this field. Catalyst Research Grants provide promising early investigators with seed grants to help establish a novel and promising line of eczema research, and gather a preliminary, yet meaningful body of data to carry this area of study forward. HEALTH OUTCOMES RESEARCH: Outcomes research spans a broad spectrum of issues from studies evaluating the effectiveness of a particular pharmaceutical intervention to the impact of reimbursement policies on the outcomes of care. It also ranges from the development and use of tools to perform patient-based assessments to analyses of the best way to disseminate the results of outcomes research to providers or consumers to encourage behavior change. Outcomes research incorporates a variety of research methods from various disciplines. The Ruth L. Kirschstein National Research Service Award (NRSA) Individual Fellowship for Students at Institutions Without NIH-Funded Institutional Predoctoral Dual-Degree Training Programs (Parent F30) award will support students at institutions without formal NIH-funded institutional predoctoral dual-degree training programs. The purpose of this FOA is to enhance the integrated research and clinical training of promising predoctoral students, who are matriculated in a combined MD/PhD or other dual-doctoral degree training program (e.g., DO/PhD, DDS/PhD, AuD/PhD, DVM/PhD), and who intend careers as physician/clinician-scientists. Applicants must propose an integrated research and clinical training plan and a dissertation research project in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The fellowship experience is expected to clearly enhance the individuals' potential to develop into a productive, independent physician/clinician-scientist. This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is designed specifically for applicants proposing research that does not involve leading an independent clinical trial, a clinical trial feasibility study, or an ancillary study to a clinical trial, but does allow applicants to propose research experience in a clinical trial led by a sponsor or co-sponsor.

ASPEN is accepting applications to its annual Rhoads Research Foundation Grants program. Through the program, grants of $25,000 (renewable for one year) and $10,000 (non-renewable) will be awarded to exceptional early-career investigators in support of clinical metabolic and nutrition support research in alignment with the priorities outlined in the ASPEN Research Agenda. Research supported by the foundation includes both basic science-oriented investigations aimed at improving the understanding of the science of nutrient regulation in different disease states, as well as clinical and translational research to determine how the practice of nutrition support can continue to be refined and individualized to optimize clinical outcomes.

Allocation of funds, which is provided by a gift from the Doris Bloch estate, is based on the quality of the proposed research, the future promise of the applicant, and the applicant's research budget. Applications from novice researchers who have received no other national research funds are encouraged and will receive preference for funding, other aspects being equal.

The Global Health Research Innovation Center (GHRIC) is pleased to announce a call for proposals for faculty research grants. These grants are designed to foster the development of research initiatives and partnership projects in global health. Grants will be made to Miami faculty to undertake small-scale, collaborative pilot research projects in global health and/or travel (of Miami faculty or domestic/international collaborators) to cultivate research relationships through establishing institutional linkages and jointly developing or writing research proposals. The expectation is that at least one outcome of each project will be the submission of an external grant proposal. Proposed projects must involve at least two Miami faculty members from different departments. Budgets are expected to be between $4000-$8000. We expect to award at least 2 grants for the 2016-2017 academic year. If funded, additional funding of up to $1000 may be available to help support presentation of the proposed project at either the annual conference of the Consortium of Universities for Global Health or the Global Health and Innovation Conference (Unite for Sight).

The Oncology Nursing Society Foundation is seeking Letters of Intent from beginning researchers for its mentored Research Career Development Award. Through the annual program, grants of up to $20,000 will be awarded to support short-term oncology research training and mentorship, with each fellow receiving up to $18,000 to cover related expenses; the mentor (or the mentor's institution) will receive a $2,000 award in the form of an unrestricted honorarium to cover his/her consultative or research-related expenses and/or other institutional costs. To be eligible, applicants must be a registered nurse with an interest in oncology and have a completed PhD degree in nursing or a related discipline. The awards are available for beginning researchers (i.e., up to eight years after completing a PhD degree with no history of research funding as a principal investigator).

The National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) is seeking applications from qualified organizations for Injury Control Research Center (ICRC) grants. These centers will conduct high quality research and help translate scientific discoveries into practice for the prevention and control of fatal and nonfatal injuries and violence that support NCIPC’s priorities and mission. ICRCs are expected to blend Outreach, Training and Education, and Research activities into a program to reduce the number, risk, and public health impact of injury and violence in the U.S. The over-arching goals for the NCIPC ICRC program are to: Build the scientific base for the prevention and control of fatal and nonfatal injuries and violence. Integrate, in the context of a national program, professionals from a wide spectrum of disciplines of epidemiology, behavioral and social sciences, medicine, biostatistics, public health, health economics, law, criminal justice, and engineering to perform research and provided technical expertise in order to prevent and control injuries and/or violence more effectively. Encourage investigators to propose research that involves intervention development or translation of effective programs among individuals, organizations, or communities. Provide technical assistance to injury and/or violence prevention and control programs in their geographic region, including other researchers; universities; medical institutions; community groups; state and local government agencies, public health agencies; and policy makers. Act as sources of injury and/or violence prevention and control information for their constituents and stakeholders at the local, state, tribal, national, and global levels.

Purpose The purpose of the Sigma/Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation End of Life Nursing Care research grant is to encourage qualified nurses to contribute to the advancement of nursing care through research. Proposals for pilot and/or developmental research may be submitted for the grant. Research Funding Funds for this grant are provided jointly by Hospice and Palliative Nurses Foundation End of Life Nursing Care and Sigma Foundation for Nursing. Funds for this grant do not cover expenses incurred prior to the funding date.
