The Cultural Exchange Fund is a travel subsidy program supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to assist U.S. based presenting professionals and their organizations and companies in building partnerships and collaborations with international touring artists, companies and their collaborators and to experience the work of artists from around the world in its cultural context. The Association of Performing Arts Presenters recognizes that promoting global exchanges of artists and their work and cross-cultural programs is essential to fully engage audiences and communities in the breadth and diversity of performing arts experiences and provides an opportunity for presenting professionals to expand and deepen their knowledge of artists, traditions and cultures from around the world. APAP strongly encourages but does not limit travel to the following regions: Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

The PAJ programwasstarted by the Japan Foundation in 1994 with themission to establish a system for promoting Japanese performing artsinNorth America. The PAJ programsupportsthe initiatives taken by nonprofit organizationsin theUnited States and Canada to provide geographically diverse audiences with greater exposure to Japanese performing arts. PAJ also encourages collaborations between Japanese and American/Canadian artists, which will further an appreciation ofJapanese culture when presented to audiences in the United States and Canada. To realize the above objectives,the PAJ programofferstwo types ofsupport: 1) The TOURINGGRANT assists with the presentation ofJapanese performing arts at multiple locations in theUnited States and/or Canada, with emphasis on locations outside major metropolitan areas where there is little exposure to the Japanese performing arts. 2) The COLLABORATIONGRANT facilitatesthe collaboration ofJapanese and American/Canadian artistsso thattheymay create a new work with the potentialto develop into a touring project and further an appreciation ofJapanese culture when presented to audiences in theUnited States and Canada.

This program supports digitally based research projects in all disciplines of the humanities and related social sciences. It is hoped that projects of successful applicants will help advance digital humanistic scholarship by broadening understanding of its nature and exemplifying the robust infrastructure necessary for creating such works. ACLS Digital Innovation Fellowships are intended to support an academic year dedicated to work on a major scholarly project that takes a digital form. Projects may: Address a consequential scholarly question through new research methods, new ways of representing the knowledge produced by research, or both; Create new digital research resources; Increase the scholarly utility of existing digital resources by developing new means of aggregating, navigating, searching, or analyzing those resources; Propose to analyze and reflect upon the new forms of knowledge creation and representation made possible by the digital transformation of scholarship. ACLS will award up to six Digital Innovation Fellowships in this competition year. Each fellowship carries a stipend of up to $60,000 towards an academic year's leave and provides for project costs of up to $25,000. ACLS does not support creative works (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, straightforward translations, or purely pedagogical projects.

With the goal of promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in Arts and Humanities education, the Arts and Humanities Division will offer financial support for faculty to present  on the process and/or results of undergraduate research at regional or national Arts and/or Humanities conferences. The awards will be from $500 to $800 and up to three will be awarded for presentations that  have been accepted and presented no earlier than Sept. 1, 2013, and no later than June 30, 2014.

The Big Read supports organizations across the country in developing community-wide reading programs which encourage reading and participation by diverse audiences. These programs include activities such as author readings, book discussions, art exhibits, lectures, film series, music or dance events, theatrical performances, panel discussions, and other events and activities related to the community's chosen book or poet. Activities focus on one book or poet from The Big Read catalog.

Organizations are encouraged to submit letters of inquiry for projects that strengthen the national infrastructure of the professional nonprofit dance, jazz, presenting and/or theatre fields, or that improve conditions for the national community of performing artists in dance, jazz and theatre, such as: Research projects assessing the national health of professional nonprofit arts groups or of individual professional artists; Special national convenings for entire professional nonprofit performing arts fields (beyond traditional national annual conferences); Special projects that address unique circumstances that affect an entire professional nonprofit field. Highest priority will be given to projects that improve the health of the Arts Program's priority performing arts fields and do not duplicate ongoing efforts or existing services.

Southern Exposure is a national initiative designed to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of the richness and diversity of Latin American cultures through the work of its contemporary and traditional performing artists. The program supports tours that are collaboratively developed by presenting organizations across the United States.  The touring projects include public performances and activities that provide the public with direct interaction with the visiting artists.  An emphasis is placed on funding engagements in communities that have little access to this type of work. Southern Exposure is a partnership of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation. The Antarctic Artists and Writers Program furnishes U.S. Antarctic Program operational support, and round-trip economy air tickets between the United States and the Southern Hemisphere, to artists and writers whose work requires them to be in the Antarctic to complete their proposed project. The Program does not provide any funding to participants, including for such items as salaries, materials, completion of the envisioned works, or any other purpose.

The MAP Fund is founded on the principle that experimentation drives human progress, no less in art than in science or medicine. We welcome applications from artists, ensembles, producers and presenters of a high artistic standard, whose work in the disciplines of contemporary performance embodies this spirit of exploration and deep inquiry. MAP is particularly interested in supporting work that examines notions of cultural difference or "the other," be that in class, gender, generation, race, religion, sexual orientation or other aspects of diversity.

CIRD supports rural communities with a population of 50,000 or less located in a non-metropolitan county or a metropolitan county on the urban fringe. CIRD defines "community" broadly: not just the town center or area within the town boundary, but also the surrounding areas that depend on its goods and services and contribute an economic base, agricultural land or open space, and recreational opportunities. Ability to carry out the logistical and practical preparations for a two-and-a-half workshop (secure a facility for the workshop, provide breakfast and luncheon for participants, provide audio visual equipment, arrange for field trips), including a public engagement event Matching funds (suggested $7,000 in cash or in-kind donations) Support of a local governing body, municipal agency, or other appointed or elected officials, including an expressed willingness of these individuals to serve as official partners and to actively participate in the workshop Support of additional local and/or regional partner organizations and leaders Ability to identify and engage a diverse group of community members as participants in the workshop and follow-up activities Intention and readiness to implement actions emerging from the workshops, participate in the evaluation of the workshop, and report on results

The purpose of the annual award program is to encourage, promote, and fund music therapy research and to explore new and innovative music therapy treatments. To that end, the program supports clinical and health services research projects, including studies of the effectiveness of selected interventions in achieving predictable outcomes; development, refinement, and testing of theories of music therapy; examination of the use of music and music therapy in the areas of prevention and wellness; development and standardization of research instruments; studies that utilize qualitative techniques to develop a better understanding of music therapy processes; studies that examine the application of technology to music therapy practice or research; and other research related to AMTA's mission.

The French-American Jazz Exchange, a partnership of the Cultural Service of the French Embassy, the French American Cultural Exchange, and the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, seeks to foster the creative and professional development of jazz artists from France and the United States through the collaborative investigation of artistic practice and exposure to new audiences, musical concepts, and professional relationships. FAJE supports projects jointly conceived by French and American professional jazz artists that encourage artistic exploration, foster intercultural dialogue, and contribute to the dynamism of the art form. Each FAJE project consists of a lead partner from one country working with a collaborating partner from the other country. Lead and collaborating partners may be either individual artists or ensembles. Projects may take place either in France or the U.S. and their respective territories within a sixteen-month period (September 1, 2014, to December 31, 2015).

EmcArts, in partnership with the Doris Duke Charitable Foundation, is accepting applications for Round 2 of the Innovation Lab for Arts Development Agencies, a sixteen-month program designed to help performing arts organizations and arts development agencies incubate and test strategies that address complex organizational challenges. The Innovation Lab provides organizations selected on a competitive basis with space, time, and resources to explore and accelerate the design and testing of new organizational change strategies. Strategies selected for inclusion must offer substantial leverage for new, effective practices in the performing arts field, though they do not necessarily have to be large in scope or cost.

The University of Kentucky's College of Arts and Sciences and Proposal Development Office are pleased to host a National Endowment for the Humanities regional proposal development workshop on March 2-3, 2015 in the Student Center Theater.  The program is open to the academic community and post-secondary institutions throughout the region and is an excellent opportunity to learn more about federal support for the humanities.

Our mission is to improve learning and enrichment opportunities for children. We do this by supporting and sharing effective ideas and practices in five major initiatives: School Leadership: Strengthening the leadership of principals and other key figures to improve student achievement. After School: Helping cities improve access to high-quality after-school programs through coordinating the work of government agencies, private funders, nonprofits and others groups. Summer and Expanded Learning: Supporting school district and other efforts to expand learning time during summer and the school day or year. Arts Education: Expanding arts learning opportunities for children and teens in school and beyond. Audience Development for the Arts: Supporting arts organizations to develop and test ideas for reaching new audiences so that many more people might enjoy the benefits of the arts.

Applicant organizations for NEA Big Read must be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit; a division of state, local, or tribal government; or a tax-exempt public library. Eligible applicants include organizations such as literary centers, libraries, museums, colleges and universities, art centers, historical societies, arts councils, tribal governments, humanities councils, literary festivals, and arts organizations. Note: K-12 schools, school districts, boards of education, or other school governing bodies, whether public or private, are not eligible applicants, but may partner with eligible applicants. NEA Big Read supports organizations across the country in developing community-wide reading programs which encourage reading and participation by diverse audiences. These programs include activities such as author readings, book discussions, art exhibits, lectures, film series, music or dance events, theatrical performances, panel discussions, and other events and activities related to the community's chosen book or poet. For more than 50 years, the American Institute of Indian Studies has provided funding to pre- and post-doctoral scholars and artists in pursuit of knowledge about India. Junior Fellowships are for graduate students conducting research for their doctoral dissertations in India. Senior Long- and Short-term Fellowships are for those holding the PhD degree. Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships are available to accomplished practitioners of the arts to conduct their projects in India. The AIIS fellowship competition is not restricted to those from its member institutions. Non-U.S. citizens may apply as long as they are either graduate students or full-time faculty at colleges and universities in the United States. Approximately 35 fellowships are awarded each year.

Pillars Fund is dedicated to amplifying the leadership, narrative, and talents of American Muslims. Pillars aspires to put an end to bigotry, xenophobia, and other divisive tactics that keep our nation apart. Support is provided to nonprofit organizations throughout the United States that address the following issues: Rights, with a focus on social and policy change efforts that protect and expand the human and civil rights of us all; Wellness, with a focus on the growth and nurturing of whole, healthy American Muslim communities; and Understanding, with a focus on amplifying American Muslim voices and creating a deeper understanding of American Muslims.

Program interests include, but are not limited to: disadvantaged youth, public health, women, the environment, the arts, the hungry and the homeless.
