Cultural Exchange Fund - 0 views

    The Cultural Exchange Fund is a travel subsidy program supported by the Andrew W. Mellon Foundation to assist U.S. based presenting professionals and their organizations and companies in building partnerships and collaborations with international touring artists, companies and their collaborators and to experience the work of artists from around the world in its cultural context. The Association of Performing Arts Presenters recognizes that promoting global exchanges of artists and their work and cross-cultural programs is essential to fully engage audiences and communities in the breadth and diversity of performing arts experiences and provides an opportunity for presenting professionals to expand and deepen their knowledge of artists, traditions and cultures from around the world. APAP strongly encourages but does not limit travel to the following regions: Africa, Asia, Latin America, and the Middle East.

    The PAJ programwasstarted by the Japan Foundation in 1994 with themission to establish a system for promoting Japanese performing artsinNorth America. The PAJ programsupportsthe initiatives taken by nonprofit organizationsin theUnited States and Canada to provide geographically diverse audiences with greater exposure to Japanese performing arts. PAJ also encourages collaborations between Japanese and American/Canadian artists, which will further an appreciation ofJapanese culture when presented to audiences in the United States and Canada. ACLS Digital Innovation Fellowships - 0 views

    This program supports digitally based research projects in all disciplines of the humanities and related social sciences. It is hoped that projects of successful applicants will help advance digital humanistic scholarship by broadening understanding of its nature and exemplifying the robust infrastructure necessary for creating such works. ACLS Digital Innovation Fellowships are intended to support an academic year dedicated to work on a major scholarly project that takes a digital form. Projects may: Address a consequential scholarly question through new research methods, new ways of representing the knowledge produced by research, or both; Create new digital research resources; Increase the scholarly utility of existing digital resources by developing new means of aggregating, navigating, searching, or analyzing those resources; Propose to analyze and reflect upon the new forms of knowledge creation and representation made possible by the digital transformation of scholarship. ACLS will award up to six Digital Innovation Fellowships in this competition year. Each fellowship carries a stipend of up to $60,000 towards an academic year's leave and provides for project costs of up to $25,000. ACLS does not support creative works (e.g., novels or films), textbooks, straightforward translations, or purely pedagogical projects.

    With the goal of promoting undergraduate research, scholarship and creative activity in Arts and Humanities education, the Arts and Humanities Division will offer financial support for faculty to present  on the process and/or results of undergraduate research at regional or national Arts and/or Humanities conferences. The awards will be from $500 to $800 and up to three will be awarded for presentations that  have been accepted and presented no earlier than Sept. 1, 2013, and no later than June 30, 2014.

    Southern Exposure is a national initiative designed to promote a greater understanding and appreciation of the richness and diversity of Latin American cultures through the work of its contemporary and traditional performing artists. The program supports tours that are collaboratively developed by presenting organizations across the United States.  The touring projects include public performances and activities that provide the public with direct interaction with the visiting artists.  An emphasis is placed on funding engagements in communities that have little access to this type of work. Southern Exposure is a partnership of Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, the National Endowment for the Arts and the Robert Sterling Clark Foundation.     The French-American Jazz Exchange, a partnership of the Cultural Service of the French Embassy, the French American Cultural Exchange, and the Mid Atlantic Arts Foundation, seeks to foster the creative and professional development of jazz artists from France and the United States through the collaborative investigation of artistic practice and exposure to new audiences, musical concepts, and professional relationships. FAJE supports projects jointly conceived by French and American professional jazz artists that encourage artistic exploration, foster intercultural dialogue, and contribute to the dynamism of the art form. Each FAJE project consists of a lead partner from one country working with a collaborating partner from the other country. Lead and collaborating partners may be either individual artists or ensembles. Projects may take place either in France or the U.S. and their respective territories within a sixteen-month period (September 1, 2014, to December 31, 2015).

    For more than 50 years, the American Institute of Indian Studies has provided funding to pre- and post-doctoral scholars and artists in pursuit of knowledge about India. Junior Fellowships are for graduate students conducting research for their doctoral dissertations in India. Senior Long- and Short-term Fellowships are for those holding the PhD degree. Performing and Creative Arts Fellowships are available to accomplished practitioners of the arts to conduct their projects in India. The AIIS fellowship competition is not restricted to those from its member institutions. Non-U.S. citizens may apply as long as they are either graduate students or full-time faculty at colleges and universities in the United States. Approximately 35 fellowships are awarded each year.
