The goal of the FY 2018 Native American Library Services Basic Grants Program is to support existing library operations and maintain core library services. Effective for this FY 2018 Native American Library Services Basic Grants Program, there is no separate Education/Assessment Option. Funding for tribal library staff to: attend library-related continuing education courses or training workshops; attend or give presentations at conferences related to library services; and/or hire a consultant for an onsite professional library assessment should be included in the Library Services Plan and the Budget. No more than $3,000 of the total $10,000 may be allotted for education/assessment activities or travel. For this FY 2018 Native American Library Services Basic Grants Program, Basic Grants are only available for a one year period.

Libraries and Autism: We're Connected promotes inclusion by connecting libraries and the autism community and brings awareness of the needs of individuals with autism spectrum disorder and their families to the library community. To that end, the organization is accepting applications for its Autism Welcome Here: Library Programs, Services and More, grant program. Through the annual program, grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded to support projects and services for any age group. Applicants may propose to initiate a new, creative program or service, bring an already-existing, successful program or service to their library for the first time, or enhance a program or service they already offer. All programs or services proposed must benefit people with autism or their families, directly or indirectly. Funds may be used to hire a trainer to present a workshop, to buy program materials, to pay for staff, etc.

Alaska Resources Library and Information Services (ARLIS) is a library, a combination of federal and state entities provides library service and support for natural resources decision-making in Alaska. It also strengthens federal, state and the universityâ¿¿s capacity to provide specialized information services to the public. The library consolidates and preserves invaluable information in the center of Alaskaâ¿¿s population while eliminating duplication of functions and library materials. The library improves public access to these information resources by putting them all in one place. It also continues strengthening the capacity to provide specialized resource information services to the public as a whole and to the state, federal partners, Exxon Valdez Oil Spill Trustee Council (EVOSTC) and Joint Pipeline Office (JPO) so that these other partners can better serve the public and their needs. This project will consolidate, preserve, and provide access to invaluable information resources to the public worldwide.

Established in 1990, the Gale Cengage Learning Award for Excellence in Reference and Adult Library Services is a citation and $3,000 monetary award presented to a library or library system for developing an imaginative and unique resource to meet patrons' reference needs. The resource can be a bibliography, a guide to the literature of a specific subject, a directory, a database, or any other project that has helped the library meet adult or children's reference needs. Tools, guides or databases that have been developed for reader's advisory or adult service questions and needs are also eligible for the award.

Evidence-based practice is the purposeful implementation of processes that have been proven by research to be most effective. The concept is an evolving one in the field of corrections, and within the field of librarianship it is also beginning to be discussed. The correctional librarian is uniquely positioned between both worlds, providing the services of a special library in a correctional setting for a population of patrons with a variety of criminogenic needs affecting their personal development toward a life free of crime. Evidence-Based Librarianship in Corrections is an area of exploration for the National Institute of Corrections to address the professional needs of the nation's library service providers working in corrections. By weaving together the best of research and evidence from both the corrections and library services fields, this work aims to fill the lack of information available to professionals in the field looking for proven, evidence-based approaches to professional questions.

National Leadership Grants for Libraries (NLG-Libraries) and National Leadership Grants for Museums (NLG-Museums), under which this special initiative falls, support projects that address challenges faced by the library and museum fields and that have the potential to advance practice in those fields. Successful projects will generate results such as new tools, research findings, models, services, practices, or alliances that can be widely used, adapted, scaled, or replicated to extend the benefits of federal investment. What is this special initiative? Activating Community Opportunities Using Museums/Libraries as Assets is part of a special Community Catalyst initiative under the National Leadership Grant programs. For this special initiative, the Institute of Museum and Library Services (IMLS) is interested in supporting projects that address significant challenges and opportunities facing the library, archive, and museum (LAM) fields and that have the potential to advance theory and practice. This joint Libraries and Museums special call for proposals invites projects that will help LAMs and their communities learn together how to build upon the unique abilities of LAMs to achieve positive change. Successful projects will exemplify how LAMs can provide trusted spaces for ongoing community dialog and exploration of the intersections between individual narratives. In addition, successful projects will demonstrate the viability of using and adapting existing approaches gleaned from the collective impact, social well-being, and community development arenas. A range of approaches are currently being employed in these fields that could be helpful as potential applicants consider their proposed projects.

Sparks! Ignition Grants for Libraries (Sparks Grants) are a special funding opportunity within the IMLS National Leadership Grants for Libraries program. These small grants encourage libraries, and archives to prototype and evaluate specific innovations in the ways they operate and the services they provide, resulting in new tools, products, services, or organizational practices. You may propose activities or approaches that involve risk, as long as the project results - be they success, failure, or a combination thereof - offer valuable information to the library field and the potential for improvement in the ways libraries serve their communities. You are required to submit a short white paper, with the results of your work to be publicly posted and shared with the field.

These small grants encourage libraries and archives to test and evaluate specific innovations in the ways they operate and the services they provide. Sparks Grants support the deployment, testing, and evaluation of promising and groundbreaking new tools, products, services, or organizational practices. You may propose activities or approaches that involve risk, as long as the risk is balanced by significant potential for improvement in the ways libraries and museums serve their communities. Successful proposals will address problems, challenges, or needs of broad relevance to libraries and/or archives. A proposed project should test a specific, innovative response to the identified problem and present a plan to make the findings widely and openly accessible.

The National Endowment for the Humanities offers the Dialogues on the Experience of War program as part of its current initiative, Standing Together: The Humanities and the Experience of War. The program supports the study and discussion of important humanities sources about war, in the belief that these sources can help U.S. military veterans and others think more deeply about the issues raised by war and military service. Although the program is primarily designed to reach military veterans, men and women in active service, military families, and interested members of the public may also participate. The program awards grants of up to $100,000 that will support * the convening of at least two discussion programs for no fewer than fifteen participants; and * the creation of a preparatory program to recruit and train program discussion leaders (NEH Discussion Leaders). Discussion programs may take place on college and university campuses, in veterans' centers, at public libraries and museums, and at other community venues.

The Korean Collections Consortium of North America (KCCNA) was created in 1992 with generous grants from the Korea Foundation. Its members cooperatively develop and share specialized Korean Studies scholarly resources and provide library services to a wider audience beyond their own academic communities. Current membership consists of the thirteen largest Korean Studies academic libraries in the US and Canada.  The KCCNA Research Travel Grants program was created to assist scholars who need to travel a long distance in order to access the resources and services of KCCNA member libraries.  

The goals of National Leadership Grants (NLG) for Museums are to support projects that address critical needs of the museum field and that have the potential to advance practice in the profession so that museums can strengthen services for the American public. This work may be achieved through projects at various stages of maturity (exploring, piloting, scaling, or mainstreaming).

National Leadership Grants for Museums support projects that address critical needs of the museum field and that have the potential to advance practice in the profession so that museums can improve services for the American public. This program has five project categories: Collections Stewardship and Access Data and Evaluation Digital Platforms and Applications Diversity and Inclusion Professional Development

In addition to the opportunity described in this Notice of Funding Opportunity, an additional NLG funding opportunity is anticipated to be announced in December 2014 with an application submission due date of February 2015.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites cooperative agreement (UG4) applications for Regional Medical Libraries (RMLs) as an integral component of the National Network of Libraries of Medicine (NN/LM). The goal of the NN/LM is to advance the progress of medicine and improve public health by providing U.S. health professionals with equal access to biomedical information and improving individual's access to information to enable them to make informed decisions about their health. Eight Health Sciences Libraries will function as the RML for their respective region. The RMLs will coordinate the operation of a Network of Libraries and other organizations to carry out regional and national programs. The RMLs will ensure a continuity of quality service for core programs of the NN/LM, and cooperatively design, implement and evaluate innovative approaches to serve the health information needs of health professionals and the public in the future.
