    A single grant of up to $8,000 grant will be awarded to support novel basic and clinical research on anxiety and anxiety related disorders conducted by graduate students and early career researchers. To be eligible, applicants must be a graduate student or early-career researcher (no more than ten years postdoctoral); be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational, or scientific institution, or a governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes; have a demonstrated knowledge of anxiety and anxiety research, either basic or clinical; and have demonstrated competence and the capacity to execute the proposed work.

    The American Psychological Association is accepting applications for its Elizabeth Munsterberg Koppitz Fellowship program, which is designed to nurture excellent young scholars for careers in areas of psychology, such as child-clinical, pediatric, school, educational and developmental psychopathology. Through the program, one-year grants of up to $25,000 will be awarded to support graduate research projects and scholarships in child psychology. To be eligible, applicants must have completed doctoral candidacy at the time of application (documentation required) and demonstrated research competence and area commitment. In addition, IRB approval must be received from their host institution before funding can be awarded if human participants are involved.

    Division 38 of the American Psychological Association is sponsoring five graduate student awards to support new research. Each award is for $1500. The awards are distributed in the following three categories. STUDIES IN GENERAL HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY - 2 AWARDS Understanding the etiology, promotion and maintenance of health; Prevention, diagnosis, treatment and rehabilitation of physical illness; Psychological, social, emotional and behavioral factors in physical illness; and Health care systems and health policy. RESEARCH IN CHILD HEALTH PSYCHOLOGY - 1 AWARD Studies addressing one of the topics outlined in the items above under General Psychology directed at a sample comprised primarily or exclusively of children or adolescents. This award is conferred in memory of Lizette Peterson, a former Health Psychology editor and Division 38 member. RESEARCH ADDRESSING HEALTH DISPARITIES - 2 AWARDS Defined as "differences in the incidence, prevalence, mortality, and burden of diseases and other adverse health conditions that exist among specific population group" (National Institutes of Health). In particular, these awards are intended to support research focusing on various health conditions that are more prevalent, serious, or specific to disadvantaged and medically underserved groups, or on healthcare inequities relevant to these groups, specifically, ethnic minorities and socio-economically disadvantaged individuals in rural and urban areas.

East Asia and Pacific Summer Institutes for U.S. Graduate Students - 0 views

    NSF and selected foreign counterpart science and technology agencies sponsor international research institutes for U.S. graduate students in seven East Asia and Pacific locations at times set by the counterpart agencies between June and August each year. The Summer Institutes (EAPSI) operate similarly and the research visits to a particular location take place at the same time. Although applicants apply individually to participate in a Summer Institute, awardees become part of the cohort for each location. Applicants must propose a location, host scientist, and research project that is appropriate for the host site and duration of the international visit.

    The Kenneth B. and Mamie P. Clark Fund, supports research and demonstration activities that promote the understanding of the relationship between self-identity and academic achievement with an emphasis on children in grade levels K-8. This grant will alternate every other year between an early career psychologist and a graduate student. The 2016 grant will support an early career psychologist. The Kenneth B. and Mamie P. Clark Fund was established in 2003 to honor the Clarks and to perpetuate their work as pioneers in understanding the psychological underpinnings of race relations and in addressing social issues such as segregation and injustice. The Clarks were the first and second African-Americans to receive PhDs from Columbia University. Their famous doll experiments, in which they asked children to express their likes and dislikes about brown-and white-skinned dolls, led the Clarks to conclude that the segregation in schools and society was psychologically damaging to the children. These studies are believed to be the first social science evidence considered as hard fact by the U.S. Supreme court, in Brown v. The Board of Education of Topeka.

    The Association for Jewish Studies is pleased to announce the Berman Foundation Dissertation Fellowships in Support of Research in the Social Scientific Study of the Contemporary American Jewish Community. The Berman Fellowships - two awards of $16,000 each for the 2014-15 academic year -aim to support the development and expansion of the field of the social scientific study of Jewish Americans and the contemporary Jewish-American experience; enhance funding opportunities for up-and-coming scholars in the midst of institutional cutbacks in higher education; and encourage graduate students in sociology, social psychology, social anthropology, demography, social work, economics, and political science to expand their research to include the study of North American Jewry.
