The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) anticipates soliciting applications for Behavioral Interventions Scholars grants to support dissertation research by advanced graduate students who are using behavioral science approaches to examine specific research questions of relevance to social service programs and policies. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to apply a behavioral lens to issues facing poor and vulnerable families in the United States, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students.Applicants will be required to demonstrate the applicability of their research to practice or policy serving low-income children, adults, and families, especially those that seek to improve their well-being

This award recognizes a graduate student in clinical psychology who has made outstanding service contributions to the profession and the community.

The Board of Regents is seeking high quality, focused cooperative education and internship program proposals from Ohio institutions of higher education and their partners. This program has been funded  through one-time casino licensing fees; it is expected that the funds will be awarded to build systems to sustain co-ops and internships beyond the direct investment from the State and to ensure these workbased learning opportunities are relevant to the needs of students and businesses. Funds will be awarded to build the capability and capacity of programs to engage more students, more businesses,  and more faculty members in co-op and internship programs. The programs should address the talent needs of JobsOhio key industries.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages Research Education Grant (R25) applications from institutions that propose to enhance the pool of masters degree students from underrepresented backgrounds who are trained and available to participate in NIH-funded research. This initiative promotes partnerships/consortia between colleges or universities granting a terminal masters degree with institutions that offer the doctorate degree. The program expects that the joint efforts of doctorate degree-granting and masters degree-granting institutions will foster the development of a well-integrated institutional program that will provide students with the necessary academic preparation and skills to enable their transition and successful completion of the Ph.D. degree in biomedical and behavioral sciences.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, Center for Mental Health Services is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2015 Campus Suicide Prevention grants. The purpose of this program is to facilitate a comprehensive public health approach to prevent suicide in institutions of higher education. The grant is designed to assist colleges and universities in building essential capacity and infrastructure to support expanded efforts to promote wellness and help-seeking of all students. Additionally, this grant will offer outreach to vulnerable students, including those experiencing substance abuse and mental health problems who are at greater risk for suicide and suicide attempts. The Campus Suicide Prevention grant supports a wide range of program activities and prevention strategies to build and sustain a foundation for mental health promotion, suicide prevention, substance abuse prevention and other prevention activities such as interpersonal violence and by-stander interventions. As an Infrastructure Development grant, funds cannot be used to pay for direct traditional mental health and substance abuse treatment services such as therapy, counseling, and medication management. The Campus Suicide Prevention Grant program seeks to address behavioral health disparities among racial, ethnic, sexual and gender minorities by encouraging the implementation of strategies to decrease the differences in access, service use and outcomes among the racial and ethnic minority populations served. SAMHSA intends that these grants will assist colleges and universities to have a campus free from the tragedy of suicide which also supports the National Strategy for Suicide Prevention Objective 8.1 (See http://store.samhsa.gov/product/National-Strategy-for-Suicide-Prevention-2012-Goals-and-Objectives-for-Action/PEP12-NSSPGOALS). NSF and selected foreign counterpart science and technology agencies sponsor international research institutes for U.S. graduate students in seven East Asia and Pacific locations at times set by the counterpart agencies between June and August each year. The Summer Institutes (EAPSI) operate similarly and the research visits to a particular location take place at the same time. Although applicants apply individually to participate in a Summer Institute, awardees become part of the cohort for each location. Applicants must propose a location, host scientist, and research project that is appropriate for the host site and duration of the international visit.

Any area of education related to the radiologic sciences is eligible for Education Scholar Grant support. Projects may include, but are not limited to: advanced training in the discipline of education, possibly resulting in an advanced degree/certificate (development of teachers and educational leaders); development, dissemination and evaluation of printed or electronic educational materials; research of teaching methods and evaluation processes; education in emerging nations; medical student, resident, fellow, CME participant, allied health professional student education. RSNA and the Association of University Radiologists (AUR) have collaborated on a joint award beginning in 2013. This co-sponsored Education Scholar Grant will leverage funds to support additional projects in radiology education. Interested applicants should apply through the standard application process.

Together with University Advancement, the Office for the Advancement of Research & Scholarship (OARS) is rolling out an new crowdfunding platform called HawksNest. Through HawksNest, alumni, family, and friends of the university can directly support the research, scholarship, and service projects of Miami University students, faculty, and staff. This is how HawksNest works: * Any Miami University student, faculty, or staff member may complete an online application to have a project considered for funding. * An internal review team assesses applications and posts approved projects on HawksNest for a maximum of 45 days. * Potential donors visit the site to learn about and pledge funds to approved projects. * Once a funding goal has been met, the project can begin! * Project managers use the site to keep donors up-to-date with information on the project's progress.

The Esther Katz Rosen Precollege Psychology Grant Program provides financial support for efforts aimed at improving the quality of education in psychological science and its application in the secondary schools for high ability students. Proposals must focus on supplying education for gifted and talented high school students. 

The National Institute on Minority Health and Health Disparities (NIMHD) invites applications for the Minority Health and Health Disparities Research Training (MHRT) awards. The Program supports research training activities in minority health and health disparities research for individuals from diverse backgrounds, including groups underrepresented in biomedical, behavioral, clinical and social sciences research, at domestic institutions and/or at specified foreign low and middle income (LMIC) locations. This program is intended to promote both domestic and international training opportunities in a diverse and inclusive environment for eligible undergraduate, post-baccalaureate and graduate students, as well as for eligible residents, fellows and postdoctoral students.

The American Psychological Foundation is accepting applications for its David H. And Beverly A. Barlow Grant. Through the program, a single grant of up to $7,500 will support novel basic and clinical research on anxiety and anxiety-related disorders conducted by a graduate student or early-career researcher. To be eligible for the grant, applicants must be a graduate student or early-career researcher (no more than ten years postdoctoral) and be affiliated with a nonprofit charitable, educational, or scientific institution or a governmental entity operating exclusively for charitable and educational purposes. The Substance Abuse andMental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance AbuseTreatment (CSAT), isaccepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2019 Provider's Clinical SupportSystem - Universities (Short Title: PCSS-Universities) grants. The purpose of this program is toexpand/enhance access to medication-assisted treatment (MAT) services forpersons with an opioid use disorder (OUD) seeking or receiving MAT throughensuring the education and training of students in the medical, physicianassistant and nurse practitioner fields. This program's focus is to ensure students fulfill the trainingrequirements needed to obtain a DATA waiver to prescribe MAT in office-basedsettings. The desired outcomes include: 1) an increase in the number of individuals completing the trainingrequirements for the DATA waiver, 2) an increase the number of individuals witha DATA waiver, and 3) an ultimate increase in those prescribing.

In the belief it is time to apply fresh thinking on how we dedicate and apply resources to positively impact the quality of students' lives, the foundation will award grants of $3,500 to one or more institutions of higher education to create or improve underlying campus infrastructure (e.g., networks, resources, tools, structures) in a manner that raises the well-being of students as evidenced through creative programming and outcomes research initiatives.

As part of this mission, the foundation is accepting applications for its Roy Scrivner Memorial Research Grant program, which encourages talented students to orient their careers toward engaging LGBT family issues through basic and/or applied research; advance the understanding of problems faced by LGBT families, including those associated with cultural, racial, socioeconomic, and family structure diversity; advance the understanding of successful coping mechanisms, including sources of support and resilience for family members; and advance the understanding of clinical issues and interventions in the domain of LGBT. Preference will be given to advanced students who have demonstrated their commitment to this area through their dissertation research plans.

Historically, grants through the program have supported research projects on a range of topics and disciplines, including education, psychology, sociology, economics, history, and anthropology; they also employ a wide range of research methods. Examples of recently funded projects include an experimental study of how college students use visual representations in solving math problems; a study exploring the process of racial and rural identity formation among African American high-school students who attend de facto segregated schools in the rural South; and a mixed-methods study focusing on the different types of knowledge novice and experienced teachers draw on in teaching for reading comprehension.

Established in 2004, the grant program is intended to encourage and support students conducting research pursuant to graduate and post-graduate studies in disciplines related to assessment, intervention, and support of learners with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded for projects related to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of assessment models, treatment models, or service systems; applied aspects of early and/or school-based education, behavioral, or communication intervention; adult issues such as containing education, employment, housing models and later intervention; and/or issues related to family support, social and community integration, and assessment and intervention with challenging behavior. Priority will be given to studies that will likely produce practical and clearly objective results that may aid parents, families, professionals, and people with autism to make more fully informed choices that will lead to healthier and happier lives. International students are eligible to apply.

Research!America is requesting proposals from graduate student and postdoc-led science policy groups to participate in the third year of our civic engagement initiative begun in 2018. This year, Research!America provides funding to student groups for virtual activities that focus on civic engagement and sparking dialogue with public officials, local community leaders, and the public around science and health research.
