Connect 4 Mental Health (C4MH) will issue four awards to U.S.-based community programs exhibiting innovative work in the four C4MH  pillars - early intervention, creative use of technology, continuity of care, and service integration (one winner in each pillar). Winners will exemplify the mission of C4MH, implementing approaches that support individuals living with serious mental illness and their families, and that also may positively impact the communities in which they live. Each of the 2014 Community Innovation Award winners will receive a $10,000 award and access to a one-on-one mentorship program featuring exemplary community-based programs with expertise in the four C4MH pillars. Winners will also be featured on the C4MH website and highlighted in future media announcements

The Group Foundation for Advancing Mental Health is dedicated to changing lives by advancing the most effective and innovative approaches to group therapy education, training, research, and community outreach. To that end, the foundation is seeking research-focused applications to support group psychotherapy research that focuses on one of five clinical populations: children, the elderly, the chronically mentally ill, substance abusers, and/or significantly ill patients with marked functional impairment.

The APA-IUPsyS Global Mental Health Fellowship provides an opportunity for a psychologist to spend one year at the World Health Organization (WHO), in the Department of Mental Health and Substance Abuse, working on one or more issues related to the WHO Mental Health Action Plan. Pending funding approval in December 2014, the fellowship will provide a modest stipend for additional living costs in Geneva and fellowship-related travel that is intended to supplement the fellow's other, regular sources of income.

The Joseph B. Gittler Award is presented to a scholar whose body of work or whose individual work is judged to be a significant contribution to the philosophical foundations of Psychology. The amount of the award is $7,500. Self-nominations are welcome.

The American Psychological Foundation is accepting applications for the 2015 Lizette Peterson Homer Memorial Injury Research Grant. Through the annual program, APF will award one $5,000 grant in support of research on the psychological and behavioral aspects of the prevention of injuries in children and adolescents as reflected in the pediatric psychological interests of the late Lizette Peterson-Homer. To be eligible, applicants must be a student and/or faculty at an accredited university and demonstrate research competence and commitment to the field. In addition, IRB approval must be received from the host institution before funding can be awarded if human participants are involved.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages the submission of investigator-initiated research grant applications to support the secondary analysis of existing data sets with the goal of enhancing our understanding of patterns of alcohol consumption and the epidemiology of alcohol-related problems. Research grants for the Secondary Analysis of Existing Alcohol Epidemiology Data Sets are intended to provide support for studies that utilize currently available data sets to increase our understanding of the incidence, prevalence and etiology of alcohol related problems and disorders in the population, as well as the risk and protective factors associated with them. Research that employs analytic techniques which demonstrate or promote methodological advances in alcohol-related epidemiologic research is also of interest.

The Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Health Policy Fellows program provides the nation's most comprehensive fellowship experience at the nexus of health science, policy and politics in Washington, D.C. It is an outstanding opportunity for exceptional midcareer health professionals and behavioral and social scientists with an interest in health and health care policy promoting the health of the nation. Fellows participate in the policy process at the federal level and use that leadership experience to improve health, health care and health policy.

$20,000 to support psychology's efforts to benefit the Asian American and Pacific Islander community through research.

Proposed fellowships must fit the Grant Foundation's research interests. The foundation currently supports research to understand and improve the everyday settings of youth in the United States. Specifically, the foundation funds studies that enhance the understanding of how youth settings work, how they affect youth development, and how they can be improved; and when, how, and under what conditions research evidence is used in policy and practice that affect youth, and how its use can be improved.

A one-year, $10,000 grant will be awarded to a research team to investigate the utility of the guide, which was developed by the AED Medical Care Standards Taskforce, in increasing healthcare professionals' knowledge of eating disorders, as well as the degree to which the guide improves healthcare providers' ability to detect eating disorder symptoms in patients and make appropriate referrals to specialists. In addition, the research team will be expected to determine which media format is most appropriate for dissemination of the brochure (e.g., paper print, electronic copy, downloadable app, etc.).

SASP and Division 16 support students from under-represented cultural backgrounds as they endeavor to become a part of the inspiring profession of School Psychology. SASP and Division 16 are aware of the financial pressures that graduate students experience and thus, through generous support from Division 16, the Diversity Scholarship Program was created to provide monetary support to aid students from diverse cultural backgrounds entering the field. SASP offers the following three awards each year for student support: two incoming student awards in the amount of $500 and an advanced student award in the amount of $1,000.

The APF Annette Urso Rickel Foundation Dissertation Award for Public Policy supports dissertation research on public policy, which has the potential to improve services for children and families facing psychosocial issues such as prevention of child abuse, school programs for children with psychological issues, services for youth in the criminal justice system, healthy parenting, math and science education, and contributing to the adoption of sound policy affecting children, youth and families.

Theodore Blau Early Career Award for Outstanding Contribution to Professional Clinical Psychology $4,000 to honor a clinical psychologist for professional accomplishments in clinical psychology.

$1,000 to honor an outstanding psychologist engaged in advancing the science of personality psychology. This award honors an outstanding mid-career psychologist engaged in advancing the science of personality psychology including the areas of personality, personality theory, personality disorders and personality measurement.

The American Psychiatric Foundation is sponsoring the one-year Psychiatric Research Fellowship for three post-graduate psychiatry trainees specifically to focus on research and personal scholarship. Minimal time (less than 15%) will be devoted to teaching, patient care, consultation, or other duties. The protection of time for research should be assured by the department chairman. The American Psychiatric Association invites applicants for the Kempf Fund Award for Research Development in Psychobiological Psychiatry. This award recognizes a senior researcher who has made a significant contribution to research on the causes and treatment of schizophrenia as both a researcher and a mentor. A $1,500 award will be made to the senior researcher, and $20,000 will support the research career development of a young research psychiatrist working in a mentor-trainee relationship with the award winner on further research in this field.

More than 200,000 students are currently enrolled in high school psychology. APF wants to support high quality education in psychology and to nurture the next generation of psychologists, with up to $20,000 for projects that support the goals of the program: Reinforce the discipline of psychology as a science in secondary school curricula.Expand the profile of psychology as a science to attract talented high school students to pursue the discipline.Convey to high school students that psychological science is a tool to improve society.Teach students about career options that apply psychology outside of an academic setting (e.g. NASA, organizational development).Proposals for programs must focus on supporting the education of talented high school students.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA), issued by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR) and participating Institutes and Centers invite Research Education Grant (R25) applications to develop, implement, evaluate and disseminate short courses in innovative methods for behavioral and social sciences research (BSSR).  Methodological domains include but are not limited to experimental design, data collection, measurement, and data analysis and visualization.

The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Uganda is seeking applications to fund one or more organizations through a five-year Cooperative Agreement to improve health, nutrition, education, and psychosocial wellbeing, and reduce abuse, exploitation and neglect among children and youth orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV (OVC) and other adversities in Uganda, and particularly in the Eastern and Northern Regions; as described in Section I of this RFA.

This announcement solicits applications for Mental Health Service Expansion ¿ Behavioral Health Integration (BHI).  The goal of the fiscal year (FY) 2014 BHI funding is to increase the coordination, collaboration, and integration of primary and behavioral health care services[1] at existing health centers funded under Section 330 of the Public Health Service Act.  Specifically, this funding opportunity will: Increase access to behavioral health services, and Increase the number of health centers with integrated primary care and behavioral health models of care. Applicants must demonstrate a high level of need for behavioral health services in their community/target population, a sound proposal to meet this need, and readiness to rapidly implement the proposal.  In addition, applicants must show that BHI grant funds will increase access to comprehensive, culturally competent, collaborative, and integrated behavioral health services.  Applicants are expected to explain how services will be made available to all individuals in the service area while maximizing collaboration with existing behavioral health providers in the community.
