The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is inviting proposals from collaborative action research projects seeking to improve classroom teachers' understanding and teaching of mathematics in pre-K-8 classrooms. Priority will be given to collaborations consisting of university, elementary/middle school teachers, and pre-service teachers from the undergraduate ranks. The research should be designed and implemented with a focus on enhancing the teaching and/or learning of math from pre-K to grade 8. A single grant of up to $3,000 will be awarded. Grant funds should be used to support expenses incurred in planning and carrying out the research. Applicants must be a current full individual or e-member of NCTM or teach at a school with a current NCTM pre-K-8 school membership. The participating pre-service teacher(s) must be in an initial licensure/certification program at the undergraduate level and at some point during the term of the grant must be engaged in some form of practicum experience or student teaching.

The National Committee of Teachers of Mathematics's Principles to Actions: Ensuring Mathematical Success for All suggests that teachers must identify what counts as evidence of student progress toward mathematics learning goals and reflect on evidence to inform the planning of future instruction. In addition, teachers should work collaboratively with colleagues, families, and community members to ensure that all students have the support they need to maximize success in the mathematics classroom. To that end, the NCTM is accepting applications for classroom-based research in pre-college mathematics education in collaboration with college or university mathematics educators. Grants of up to $6,000 each will be awarded to mathematics educators or classroom teachers currently teaching mathematics at the grade 7-12 level. The research must be a collaborative effort involving a college or university mathematics educator (a mathematics education researcher or a teacher of mathematics learning, teaching, or curriculum) and one or more grade 7-12 classroom teachers (individuals who spend half or more of their work time teaching in the classroom).

The foundation awards individual grants of up to $1,000 to any K-5 teacher in a public or private nonprofit school in support of a hands-on science or math education project. Funds are intended for project-related materials only. The foundation strongly encourages projects planned and led by individual teachers or teams of teachers for use in their classrooms. Summer projects or afterschool programs will not be considered. Salaries, facility maintenance, textbooks, video production, audio-visual equipment, and education research are not eligible for funding.

The National Science Foundation Robert Noyce Teacher Scholarship Program seeks to encourage talented science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) majors and professionals to become K-12 mathematics and science (including engineering and computer science) teachers. The program invites creative and innovative proposals that address the critical need for recruiting and preparing highly effective elementary and secondary science and mathematics teachers in high-need local educational agencies.

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics works to ensure equitable mathematics learning of the highest quality for all students through vision, leadership, the professional development of teachers, and research. To that end, NCTM is accepting applications to its Connecting Mathematics to Other Subject Areas Grants for Grades 9-12 Teachers program, which supports senior high classroom materials or lessons that connect mathematics to other areas of study. For the 2019-20 school year, grants of up to $4,000 each will be awarded to persons currently teaching mathematics in grades 9-12. Materials may be in the form of books, visual displays, computer programs or displays, slide shows, videotapes, or other appropriate media. The focus of these materials should be on showing the connectivity of mathematics to other fields and/or the world around us.

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics is accepting applications to its Equity in Mathematics grant program from classroom teachers in grades 6-8. The purpose of the grant program is to help teachers incorporate middle school classroom materials or lessons that boost the achievement of students with a previous record of underachievement into their classrooms. Grants of up to $8,000 will be awarded to persons currently teaching math in grades 6-12, and proposals must address the following: the mathematics content as defined in NCTM's Principles and Standards for School Mathematics; the plan for improving achievement of the targeted students; and the anticipated impact on students' achievement. To be eligible, applicants must be a current full individual or E-member of NCTM or teach at a school with a current NCTM PreK-8 school membership and currently teach mathematics in grades 6-8 at least 50 percent of the school day.

Through the program, NCTM supports and encourages classroom-based research in precollege mathematics education in collaboration with college or university mathematics educators. The research must be a collaborative effort involving a college or university mathematics educator (a mathematics education researcher or a teacher of mathematics learning, teaching, or curriculum) and one or more pre-K-6 classroom teachers. Projects may include but are not restricted to research on curriculum development and implementation, involvement of at-risk or minority students, students' thinking about a particular mathematics concept or set of concepts, connection of mathematics to other disciplines, focused learning and teaching of mathematics with embedded use of technology, and innovative assessment or evaluation strategies. The research should lead to a draft article suitable for submission in Mathematics Teacher Educator, the Journal for Research in Mathematics Education, or one of the NCTM school journals.

The foundation awards individual grants of up to $1,000 to any K-5 teacher in a public or private nonprofit school to support hands-on science or math education projects. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to provide opportunities for eligible small business concerns (SBCs) to submit STTR grant applications to develop interactive digital media science, technology, engineering and mathematics (STEM) resources that address student career choice and health and medicine topics for: (1) pre-kindergarten to grade 12 (P-12) students and pre- and in-service teachers ("Teachers") or (2) Informal science education (ISE), i.e., outside the classroom, audiences. Interactive digital media (IDM) are defined as products and services on digital computer-based systems which respond to the user's actions by presenting content such as text, moving image, animation, video, audio, and video games. There is a large body of evidence that IDM technology has the potential to support learning in a variety of contexts from primary and secondary schools, to universities, adult education and workplace training. IDM is widely used to train, educate, and encourage behavioral changes in a virtual world format where progressive learning, feedback on success and user control are combined into an interactive and engaging experience. It is anticipated that this STTR FOA will facilitate the translation of new or existing health and medicine-based, P-12 STEM curricula and museum exhibits into educational Interactive Digital Media STEM (IDM STEM) resources that will provide a hands-on, inquiry-based and learning-by-doing experience for students, teachers and the community.

The purpose of the program is to provide financial support to college or university students preparing for a career as a teacher of middle school mathematics. One scholarship with a maximum value of $3,000 will be awarded to a person currently completing his/her junior year of college or university and pursuing a career goal of becoming a certified teacher of middle school mathematics.

The National Council of Teachers of Mathematics Lifetime Achievement Awards are designed to honor current full  Individual, E-, or Emeritus Members of NCTM who have demonstrated a lifetime of achievement in mathematics education at the national level. The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes achievement in leadership, teaching, and service. Distinction in any of these categories can be demonstrated through performance of the nominee on the job; service beyond the requirements of the job at the state and national/international level; and service to NCTM such as offices held, committee memberships, special projects, meetings, and publications. The award may be given posthumously. Presentations are made yearly at the NCTM Annual Meeting and Exposition. To be eligible, nominees should have a minimum of twenty-five years of distinguished service to mathematics education.

The REM program supports the active involvement of research participants: high school students, STEM teachers, undergraduate STEM students, faculty, and veterans, in hands-on research in order to bring this rich research experience and contact with suitable STEM mentors into participants' lives. The main goals of the REM program are to provide research experiences and mentoring opportunities to STEM students and/or educators that may ultimately enhance their career and academic trajectories while enhancing EFRI-supported research. The REM program may also enable the building of long-term collaborative partnerships among EFRI-supported researchers, the NSF university research community, and local school districts.

CAREER: The Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Program is a Foundation-wide activity that offers the National Science Foundation's most prestigious awards in support of junior faculty who exemplify the role of teacher-scholars through outstanding research, excellent education and the integration of education and research within the context of the mission of their organizations. Such activities should build a firm foundation for a lifetime of leadership in integrating education and research. NSF encourages submission of CAREER proposals from junior faculty members at all CAREER-eligible organizations and especially encourages women, members of underrepresented minority groups, and persons with disabilities to apply.

The Toshiba America Foundation is accepting applications from teachers in grades 6-12 who are passionate about making science and math more engaging for their students. Proposals for grants of up to $5,000 or less will be accepted on a rolling basis. However, the foundation considers larger grants twice a year - on August 1 and February 1. Summer projects or afterschool programs will not be considered, nor will grant proposals for salaries, facility maintenance, the purchase of textbooks, video production, audio-visual equipment (e.g., electronic whiteboards, Smartboards, document projectors, student response systems), and education research.
