The goal of the Access Program is to equip bright, talented, economically deserving high school students with a range of global citizenship skills anchored by the two core components of enhanced English language skills and a stronger Turkish-U.S. cross-cultural understanding. These core components, along with a focus on creating a keen sense of public service, also produce a stronger sense of purpose, drive, and self-esteem. Other global citizenship skills include, but are not limited to, critical and creative thinking, leadership, information technology, and media literacy. The English Speaking Union of the United States each year sponsors a travel grant for study or research providing a stipend of up to $2,000. This competition is open to qualified under-graduate and post-graduate students, faculty, and others involved in academic pursuits that are in accord with the goal of the English Speaking Union of promoting education and understanding among the English speaking peoples of the world. The grant is designed to assist worthy individuals who are active in the fields of Business, the Humanities, Science and Engineering, Liberal, Fine or Applied Arts and who wish to study or conduct research either in the United States or in one of the countries of the British Commonwealth.

Through fellowships to published translators, the National Endowment for the Arts (Arts Endowment) supports projects for the translation of specific works of prose, poetry, or drama from other languages into English. The work to be translated should be of interest for its literary excellence and value. We encourage translations of writers and of work that are not well represented in English, as well as work that has not previously been translated into English.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy Moscow (PAS Moscow) announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out a program to administer the FY 2019-2020 English Language Exchanges Support grant. The grantee facilitates short-term exchange opportunities for Russian students and teachers. Please carefully follow all instructions below. Award recipients will consult closely with the English Language Officer in PAS Moscow throughout the development, implementation, and evaluation of each Exchange Program. These include, but are not limited to: cultural, professional, sports, and academic exchange visits to the U.S. for Access and Advance teachers and students. The grantee will be responsible for providing logistical support during each exchange: planning, organizing and implementing professional trips to the U.S. as an enhancement activity for the existing program participants (Advance) or supporting participation of other selected participants (sports, etc.), providing logistical, travel and program arrangements, including chaperoning the group and providing all kinds of support needed to make the programs successful, as directed by PAS Moscow. The Grantee will be required to provide the Embassy with program account records on a regular basis.

The Embassy of the United States of America in Argentina invites proposal submissions to create a curriculum for English language students of intermediate and advanced ability to study both English and journalism, based on the UNESCO publication Journalism, 'Fake News' and Disinformation: A Handbook for Journalism Education and Training ("Curriculum"). The U.S. Embassy Tokyo Public Affairs Section (PAS) of the U.S. Department of State announces an open competition for organizations to submit applications to carry out an exchange program focusing on the English language for Japanese and Korea high school to improve English language capacity for participants and to encourage stronger Japan-Republic of Korea (ROK) relations and U.S.-Japan-ROK trilateral cooperation.

The Public Affairs Section of the U.S. Embassy in Islamabad announces an open competition for a Cooperative Agreement to design and implement a U.S. Cultural Immersion Institute for English Access Microscholarship Program Teachers and Students from Pakistan and India for two to three weeks during the summer of 2014. Institute program activity cannot take place during Ramadan (approximately June 28 through July 27, 2014). Non-profit organizations or academic institutions meeting the provisions described in Internal Revenue Code section 26 USC 501(c)(3) may submit proposals to design and implement this program. Institute participants will be selected by U.S. Embassy Islamabad and U.S. Embassy New Delhi from active participants of the English Access Microscholarship Program. This program is implemented in country by local organizations in coordination with the Embassies and the Department of State's Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.

Through the program, translators, and the writers whose work is being translated, which will have the opportunity to speak with the writer whose work they are translating about text-specific questions. The lab also will serve as an essential community-builder for English-language translators who are working to increase the amount of international literature available to English-language readers. All text-based projects - fiction, nonfiction, theater, film, poetry, etc. - are eligible.

To that end, the organization is accepting applications for the PEN/Heim Translation Fund, which was established in 2003 by Priscilla and Michael Henry Heim in response to the dismayingly low number of literary translations currently appearing in English. Through the fund, grants will be awarded in support of the translation of book-length works of fiction, creative nonfiction, poetry, or drama that have not previously appeared in English in print or have appeared only in an outdated or otherwise flawed translation. Grants typically range between $2,000 and $4,000. Works should be translations-in-progress, as the grant aims to provide support for completion. Projects may have up to two translators. All other criteria being equal, preference will be given to translators at the beginning of their career, and to works by underrepresented writers working in underrepresented languages. Works with multiple translators, literary criticism, and scholarly or technical texts do not qualify.

University College Cork invites applications for scholarships in the four-year structured PhD programme in Digital Arts and Humanities (DAH). Successful candidates will be registered with the full-time inter-disciplinary structured PhD programme co-ordinated with an all-Irish university consortium. Candidates will pursue their individual research agendas within the program, based on projects developed from proposals which they provide during the application process. The Medici Archive Project (MAP) wishes to provide graduate and doctoral students from diverse disciplines with the opportunity to have exposure to original source materials and training in their use. For this reason MAP is offering five short-term fellowships sponsored by the SAMUEL FREEMAN CHARITABLE TRUST (SFCF) for graduate students in any field of the humanities or social sciences who are in the early stages of their dissertation work. The SFCF fellowships have been developed to enable students working on their dissertations to conduct primary research using the Mediceo del Principato and other collections housed in the Archivio di Stato in Florence. This scholarly residence will be of considerable benefit in helping the students to gain the necessary skills, experience and confidence to continue independent academic research in the later stages of their graduate trajectory. While undertaking primary research for their dissertation in the Florentine state archives, the Fellows will benefit from the supervision of the MAP Staff, academics drawn from a variety of disciplines who are experts in archival research, paleography and the digital humanities. The Fellows will also have the opportunity to expand their academic networks through contact with the many international scholars who regularly visit and collaborate with MAP. Finally, Fellows will be enrolled in the annual MAP Archival Studies Seminar. The fellowships last for an uninterrupted period of two-and-a-half months, taking place at any point between 1 January 2014 and 15 July 2014. The SFCT Fellows will undertake their dissertation research on-site in the Archivio di Stato. The candidates will have the following qualifications: a completed M.Phil (or equivalent) in any field of early modern humanities and fluency in English and Italian.

Advancing Basic Education in the Philippines (ABEP) project seeks to improve basic life skills for children in the early grades in the Philippines (early childhood education through Grade 3). This includes the ability to do math, read and write in Filipino, English and selected mother tongues, as appropriate.

The U.S. Embassy Baku Public Affairs Section (PAS) is pleased to announce that funding is available through its Annual Program Statement. U.S. Embassy Baku's Annual Program Statement solicits proposals for projects that further the U.S. Mission's public diplomacy goals of expanding and strengthening people-to-people ties between Azerbaijan and the United States, engaging with local media, and building and strengthening local partners through the specific objectives listed. Public diplomacy programming includes cultural programming, educational exchanges, workshops and training for entrepreneurs, English-language programming, innovation in and improvement of education systems, promoting science, technology, engineering and math (STEM) education, and promoting professional journalism. All programs must include a connection with American culture, expert(s), organization(s), or institution(s) in a specific field that will promote increased understanding of U.S. policies and perspectives.
