    Through the program, general support grants of up to $7,000 as well as funding for specific projects will be awarded to nonprofits working in one or more of the foundation's five focus areas - promoting Earth's beauty and bounty; creating a robust, healthy food system; increasing opportunities for outdoor activity; reducing environmental health hazards; and building stronger communities. Preference will be given to organizations that can demonstrate a clearly defined objective and a viable plan to achieve it, and that operate at the community level and have strong community ties. Organizations also must promote positive change through both their project and the implementation process.

Kenneth Rainin Foundation Invites Applications for Open Spaces Program | RFPs | PND - 0 views

    The Oakland-based Kenneth Rainin Foundation is committed to change through inquiry, creativity, and compassion and works to enhance quality of life by championing the arts, promoting early childhood literacy, and supporting research on chronic diseases. In support of this mission, the foundation is accepting applications for its Open Spaces Program. Through the program, grants ranging between $50,000 and $200,000 over twenty-four months will be awarded to nonprofits prepared to partner with artists in the Bay Area to create temporary, place-based art projects that are responsive to issues relevant to communities in San Francisco and Oakland. The program is intended to strengthen the Bay Area as a center for arts experimentation and aims to support collaborations across various disciplines, diverse media, and technology; projects taking place outdoors at sites accessible by public transportation; and projects that compensate artists at a significant level.

Promoting Asthma Friendly Environments Through Partnerships and Collaborations - 0 views

    The purpose of this NOFO is to promote evidence-based asthma strategies and interventions through partnerships and collaborations by using health education and communication strategies. Recipients will develop partnerships and collaborations using health education and communication strategies that will result in measurable impacts.These strategies are outlined in the CDC asthma technical package, EXHALE (https://www.cdc.gov/asthma/pdfs/EXHALE_technical_package-508.pdf). Recipients will strengthen existing organizational infrastructure to expand the reach of services through six EXHALE strategies: Education on asthma self-management; eXtinguishing smoking and exposure to second-hand smoke; Home visits for trigger reduction and asthma self-management education (AS-ME); Achievement of guidelines-based medical management; Linkages and coordination of care; and Environmental policies or best practices to reduce indoor and outdoor asthma triggers.

    These grants are awarded for general organizational support as well as funding for specific projects. Small grants average approximately $7,000 each. Applications are reviewed three times a year; the deadlines are the 1st of February, June, and October.  Grants awarded during a particular cycle will be announced at the beginning of the following cycle.   Priority is given to applicants that: Address our funding priorities from a holistic perspective -Protect Earth's beauty and bounty. -Create a robust, healthy food system. -Increase opportunities for outdoor activity. -Reduce environmental health hazards. -Build stronger communities. Operate with clearly defined objectives and viable plans to achieve them. Demonstrate strong community ties and operate at the community level.
