The main objective of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to promote application of nutrigenetics and/or nutrigenomics approaches to nutrition research through collaborative interaction among nutrition researchers and experts in omics technologies.

The YES Initiative seeks to support projects that address the HHS priority to expand youth participation in sports and encourage regular physical activity, especially for youth populations with lower rates of sports participation and communities with limited access to athletic facilities or recreational areas. YES Initiative applicants should address unhealthy physical activity and nutrition behaviors in racial/ethnic minority and socio-economically disadvantaged youth, including specifically girls, and provide opportunities to learn skills and gain experiences that contribute to more positive lifestyles and enhance their capacity to make healthier life choices. The YES Initiative intends to identify effective collaborations and/or existing community organizational partnerships that aim to improve physical activity and nutrition by increasing sports participation of racial/ethnic minority and/or socio-economically disadvantaged youth, including specifically girls. YES Initiative projects will develop and implement sports fitness programs based on successful evidenced based practices for youth engagement, using experimental design, and result in the identification of model sustainable strategies that increase participation in range of physical activities that support a healthy lifestyle and improve the overall health among youth who, at baseline, do not meet current physical activity guidelines.

The goal for this project is to develop and deliver a pilot nutrition paraprofessional training project for FDPIR staff working at local program sites. The training tools and resources developed under this grant should support the efforts of FDPIR local staff in conducting nutrition education activities for FDPIR participants who receive USDA foods.

To that end, grants of up to $60,000 will be awarded to support the implementation of evidence-based and innovative programs aimed at increasing children's knowledge of and attitudes toward healthy eating, leading to healthier nutrition behavior change.

Launched in partnership with the Academy of Nutrition and Dietetics Foundation and the President's Council on Physical Fitness and Sports, this has become a flagship program of the General Mills Foundation, distributing more than $5 million in grants to nonprofit organizations. Through the Champions for Healthy Kids program, the General Mills Foundation will award 50 grants of $20,000 each to nonprofit organizations working to improve nutrition and physical fitness behaviors for youth.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement is to foster the advancement of the research mission of the Division of Digestive Diseases and Nutrition, NIDDK by soliciting research concepts that for pilot and feasibility clinical study proposals would need further assessment of identified protocol operational challenges would enhance operational feasibility of achieving successful completion of a subsequent larger clinical study; or for clinical translational science proposals, promote exploratory and novel science through the use of human subjects. Healthy Eating Research is a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation national program that supports research on policy, systems, and environmental strategies with strong potential to promote the health and well-being of children at a population level. Specifically, HER aims to help all children achieve optimal nutrition and a healthy weight. HER grantmaking focuses on children and adolescents from birth to 18, and their families, with a priority on lower-income and racial and ethnic minority populations that are at-risk of poor nutrition and obesity.

The Davis Phinney Foundation for Parkinson's seeks to promote tangible tools and practices that improve quality of life for those suffering from Parkinson's disease. Established by the celebrated American cyclist and Olympian Davis Phinney, who was diagnosed with Parkinson's disease in 2000, the foundation supports research dedicated to the impact of exercise, speech, and movement in enhancing the well-being and happiness of those with Parkinson's. To that end, the foundation is accepting Letters of Intent to its 2019 Research Funding Program. Through the program, a total of $50,000 will be awarded in support of research projects, with priority given to those focused on exercise and nutrition. Awards can be used for both research and program costs. Any researcher or program director with an innovative strategy to improve quality of life for those with Parkinson's are eligible to apply.

The United States Government, represented by the U.S. Agency for International Development (USAID) Mission in Mali, is seeking feedback for three planned activities: "Integrated Community Health, Nutrition and Governance" expected to cover Nutrition, Maternal, Newborn and Child Health, Malaria, Family Planning and Reproductive health interventions; "Health System Strengthening" to focus at strengthening systems at the national, regional, district and community levels; and "Quality Improvement" to focus on human resources for health and the quality of health services at all levels.

CDC announces the availability of fiscal year 2018 (FY18) funds to implement DP18-1813 Racial and Ethnic Approaches to Community Health (REACH). The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is twofold: 1. to accelerate translational and clinical Phase I and II a/b safety and efficacy studies for substantiating measurable functional benefits of probiotic/prebiotic components and/or their combinations; and; 2. to understand the underlying mechanisms of their action(s), and variability in responses to these interventions. This FOA calls for interdisciplinary collaborations across scientific disciplines engaged in microbiome and pro/prebiotic research including, but not limited to: nutritional science, microbiology, virology, microecology and microbiome, genomics, immunology, computational biology, chemistry, bioengineering, as well as integration of omics and computational approaches in DNA technologies.
