The National Human Genome Research Institute (NHGRI) seeks applications for the production of High Quality Human Reference Genomes (HQRG) as a component of the NHGRI Human Genome Reference Program (HGRP). One aim of the HGRP is to develop a genome reference that is representative of human population genetic diversity. To help achieve this goal, this HQRG initiative is expected to establish metrics for high quality-genome assemblies; collaborate with other HGRC awardees on sample selection and prioritization; produce on the order of 350 high quality haplotype-resolved human genomes, using diverse samples consented for full data release; and provide capacity to help resolve error reports received by the HGRC.

The mission of the NLN Foundation for Nursing Education is to raise, steward, and distribute funds that promote excellence in nursing education to build a strong and diverse nursing workforce. To that end, the NLN Foundation Scholarship Awards program supports the goal of attracting more seasoned and ethnically diverse nurses to become nurse educators. Scholarships of up to $8,000 will be awarded to assist in the completion of graduate education, which could include tuition, support for dissertation or thesis, or travel for attendance at an onsite internship or classes. To be eligible, applicants must be nurses pursuing advanced degrees in preparation for a career as a full-time academic nurse educator. In addition, applicants must be NLN members either through individual dues or through their schools' NLN membership. The foundation will begin accepting applications on February 18, 2019. The purpose of this Kirschstein-NRSA predoctoral fellowship (F31) award is to enhance the diversity of the health-related research workforce by supporting the research training of predoctoral students from population groups that have been shown to be underrepresented in the biomedical, behavioral, or clinical research workforce, including underrepresented racial and ethnic groups and those with disabilities. Through this award program, promising predoctoral students will obtain individualized, mentored research training from outstanding faculty sponsors while conducting well-defined research projects in scientific health-related fields relevant to the missions of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers. The proposed mentored research training is expected to clearly enhance the individuals potential to develop into a productive, independent research scientist

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite applications for multidisciplinary national conferences that will inform care and facilitate research for major issues in pediatric critical care medicine. Given the nascent stage of development, the small diverse patient populations, and the rapid expansion of the field, conducting research and establishing best practices in pediatric critical care is challenging. National conferences that convene experts from across the country hold the potential to establish the frameworks necessary to overcome these obstacles. It is anticipated that such conferences will foster collaboration among different clinical disciplines, geographically and culturally diverse institutions and medical centers, professional organizations and NIH Institutes. Specifically, it is hoped that these conferences will drive the development and acceptance of uniform definitions, facilitate the determination of common data elements, identify key knowledge gaps to advance research, and/or foster discussions on how research findings can be used to best inform guidelines for patient care .

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) solicits one five-year grant application from institutions/organizations to serve as the Coordination Center (CC) for the Programs to Increase Diversity Among Individuals Engaged in Health-Related Research (PRIDE) Summer Institute programs This FOA runs parallel with a separate FOA that solicits applications for the PRIDE Summer Institutes(See RFA-HL-17-NNN). PRIDE Summer Institute (SI) programs are designed to provide research education experiences that enable junior faculty and postdoctoral scientists transitioning into academia, and from backgrounds underrepresented in the biomedical sciences, to further develop their research skills and knowledge to become competitive NIH grants applicants and scientists. The purpose of the CC is primarily to support and complement the activities of the Summer Institutes as follows: * Facilitate outreach, participant recruitment, candidate selection, and program-wide organization * Support and assist with the identification and orientation of SI program mentors * Support matriculants research education experiences through webinar and in person learning activities * Administrate and facilitate equitable distributions of research related resources and activities * Facilitate coordination of research education and evaluation activities between the SI awardees, enrolled participants and the NHLBI * Develop orientation and support other skill development activities for mentors * Support mentoring of program participants by assisting the SIs with the formation of participants' mentorship committees; * Conduct cross-site and cross-program evaluations, including use of data from previous PRIDE cohorts to document program accomplishments, trends and trajectories.

The Healthy, Hunger-Free Kids Act of 2010 (HHFKA) amended Section 18 of the Richard B. Russell National School Lunch Act (NSLA) to establish a Farm to School Program in order to assist eligible entities, through grants and technical assistance, in implementing farm to school programs that improve access to local foods in eligible schools. To fulfill the farm to school mandate in the HHFKA, $5 million is provided to the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) on an annual basis to support grants, technical assistance, and the Federal administrative costs related to USDA's Farm to School Program. The USDA Farm to School Program is housed within the Food and Nutrition Services' (FNS) Office of Community Food Systems (OCFS). This request for applications (RFA) provides additional details regarding the grants component of the USDA Farm to School Program. The Secretary of Agriculture was also directed through the HHFKA to ensure geographical diversity and equitable treatment of urban, rural, and tribal communities, as well as give the highest priority to funding projects that, as determined by the Secretary - (a) Make local food products available on the menu of the eligible school; (b) Serve a high proportion of children who are eligible for free or reduced price lunches; (c) Incorporate experiential nutrition education activities in curriculum planning that encourage the participation of school children in farm and garden-based activities; (d) Demonstrate collaboration between eligible schools, nongovernmental and community-based organizations, agricultural producer groups, and other community partners; (e) Include adequate and participatory evaluation plans; (f) Demonstrate the potential for long-term program sustainability; and, (g) Meet any other criteria that the Secretary determines appropriate.

The National Workforce Diversity Pipeline Program (NWDP) seeks to address health disparities among racial and ethnic minorities by supporting networks of institutions focused on, and with demonstrated commitment and capacity to establish pipeline programs to increase minority and disadvantaged students' (Appendix A) awareness of and pursuit in the areas of health care and behavioral health and increase the availability of STEM education programs.

The purpose of this FOA is to support Administrative Supplements to active NIMH grants to foster research across the NIMH Strategic Objectives that target the reduction and elimination of mental health disparities by race and ethnicity, geography, and socioeconomic status in the United States. This initiative aims to generate research within the scientific scope of the parent grant that identifies mechanisms underlying disparities or differences in mental health status and/or enhances optimal delivery of mental health interventions among diverse groups.

The Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) will award National Research Service Award (NRSA) Institutional Research Training Grants (T32) to eligible domestic institutions to enhance predoctoral and postdoctoral research training and ensure that a diverse and highly trained workforce is available and committed to the generation, translation and dissemination of new scientific evidence and analytical tools that will be used to improve health care delivery in the United States. Research training programs will incorporate didactic, research and career development elements to prepare individuals for careers that will have a significant impact on the health care needs of the Nation.

This initiative seeks applications that propose to stimulate and expand research in the health of minority men. Specifically, this initiative is intended to: 1) enhance our understanding of the numerous factors (e.g., sociodemographic, community, societal, personal) influencing the health promoting behaviors of racial and ethnic minority males across the life cycle, and 2) encourage applications focusing on the development and testing of culturally and linguistically appropriate health-promoting interventions designed to reduce health disparities among racially and ethnically diverse males age 18 and older.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages innovative research to enhance the quality of measurements of dietary intake and physical activity. Applications submitted under this FOA are encouraged to include development of: novel assessment approaches; better methods to evaluate instruments; assessment tools for culturally diverse populations or various age groups, including children and older adults; improved technology or applications of existing technology; statistical methods/modeling to improve assessment and/or to correct for measurement errors or biases; methods to investigate the multidimensionality of diet and physical activity behavior through pattern analysis; or integrated measurement of diet and physical activity along with the environmental context of such behaviors.
