The mission of the American Association on Health and Disability is to contribute to national, state, and local efforts to promote health and wellness in people with disabilities and identify effective intervention strategies that reduce health disparities between people with disabilities and the general population. AAHD accomplishes its mission through research, education, and advocacy at the national, state, and community levels. To that end, the AAHD Frederick J. Krause Scholarship on Health and Disability is awarded annually to deserving students with a disability who are pursuing undergraduate/graduate studies (at least a sophomore in college) at an accredited university in an area related to health and disability, including but not limited to public health, health promotion, disability studies, disability research, rehabilitation engineering, audiology, disability policy, special education, or other majors that impact quality of life for persons with disabilities. Scholarships of up to $1,000 will be awarded in late January/early February 2019. To be eligible, applicants must be enrolled full time as an undergraduate (freshman or beyond) or part or full time in graduate school, have a documented disability, and be able provide documentation of their disability. (Applicants who have not yet graduated from high school will not be considered.) In addition, applicants must be a citizen or legal resident of the United States enrolled in an accredited U.S. university. Preference will be given to students majoring in public health, disability studies, disability research, health promotion, or a field related to disability and health.

The Scleroderma Foundation seeks applications from established investigators both inside and outside the field of scleroderma research for pilot studies designed to obtain preliminary data regarding a highly innovative and/or highly relevant theme related to the disease. The grant is intended to support pilot research likely to lead to more substantial research project grants from federal or non-federal sources. Applications may be submitted by U.S. nonprofit organizations, public and private, including universities, colleges, hospitals, and laboratories. Foreign organizations and institutions are eligible to apply as well. Applicants must have a doctorate degree in medicine, osteopathy, veterinary medicine, or one of the sciences; have completed a postdoctoral fellowship; and have been principal investigator on grants from the Scleroderma Foundation or other national, private, or government agencies in the past. Applicants may request up to $75,000 per year for up to two years.

EPA's P3 - People, Prosperity and the Planet - Program is a unique competition that is open to teams of college/university students working to design solutions for a sustainable future. P3 offers students hands-on experience that brings their classroom learning to life, while also allowing them to create tangible changes in their communities. This annual, two-phased research grants program challenges students to research, develop, and design innovative projects that address real world challenges involving all areas of environmental protection and public health. Phase I serves as a "proof of concept," where teams are awarded a one-year grant of up to $25,000 to develop their idea and showcase their research in the spring at EPA's National Student Design Expo (NSDE). These teams are then eligible to compete for a Phase II grant of up to $100,000 to implement their design in a real world setting. P3 aims to foster progress towards environmental awareness by achieving the symbiotic goals of improved quality of life for all people, economic prosperity, and protection of the planet - people, prosperity and the planet.

To support a safer campus environment for all of Ohio's students, Governor John R. Kasich and the Ohio Department of Higher Education (ODHE) encourage immediate and thoughtful action to help prevent the occurrence of terrible crimes, and ultimately support every college and university's aim to provide an excellent and safe learning environment for students. With the goal of ending and preventing sexual violence on Ohio's campuses, the Chancellor of the Ohio Department of Higher Education is issuing this RFP for the development of a comprehensive, outcomes-based program to train coaches, staff, and faculty working with campus athletic programs. The program supports the following recommendations from the Changing Campus Culture report: · Empower staff, faculty, campus law enforcement, and students to prevent and respond to sexual violence through evidence-based training. · Communicate a culture of shared respect and responsibility. · Develop a comprehensive response policy. · Adopt a survivor-centered response. The Chancellor is seeking proposals from qualified vendor(s) and will review proposed model support services to implement comprehensive prevention and response training model for coaches, staff, and faculty working with campus athletic programs. The award of this RFP will result in a contract with the Chancellor.

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to support the applicant's management of domestic fellowships for students or recent graduates of CEPH-accredited schools or programs of public health or CCNE-accredited baccalaureate and higher degree colleges of nursing. Fellowships and other similar experiential placements are vital to CDC's strategic interests to ensure students and emerging health professionals receive adequate hand-on experience in public health practice at CDC's domestic offices, at state, tribal, local, and territorial health departments, and at other community-based settings. For the purposes of this NOFO, fellowships are for recent graduates within five years of graduation. The overall goal is to create the opportunities for academia to develop qualified, knowledgeable and experienced students and emerging health professionals suitably prepared to serve in governmental public health practice, or able to apply public health concepts in various healthcare or other settings, to collectively meet the challenge of improving the population’s health. An application that exceeds the upper value of the specified dollar range will be considered non-responsive and will not receive further review.

The Vera and Joseph Dresner Foundation in West Bloomfield, Michigan, is dedicated to transforming lives in profoundly positive ways through grants focused on health, youth and animal welfare. The foundation's MDS Research Fund (MDSRF) seeks to advance the understanding and treatment of Myelodysplastic Syndromes (MDS) and related blood disorders and expands the foundation's investments in support of cutting-edge basic, translational, and clinical MDS research with the potential to establish future standards of care and, ultimately, a cure. The foundation will consider proposals in two categories from individuals at university, college, hospital, or laboratory institutions for support of research in MDS or related disorders:

NIFA requests applications for the Resident Instruction Grants for Institutions of Higher Education in Insular Areas (RIIA) and the Agriculture and Food Sciences Facilities and Equipment (AGFEI) for land-grant colleges and universities in the Insular Areas for fiscal year (FY) 2018 to strengthen the capacity to carry out resident instruction, curriculum, and teaching programs in the food, agriculture, natural resources and human sciences (FANH) as well as to upgrade agriculture and food science facilities, and equipment necessary to conduct tropical and subtropical agricultural research. The amount available for grants in FY 2018 is approximately $1,200,000. This RFA is being released prior to the passage of an appropriations act for FY 2018. Enactment of additional continuing resolutions or an appropriations act may affect the availability or level of funding for this program.

The Course Hero-Woodrow Wilson Fellowship for Excellence in Teaching will support rising stars in the academy who love teaching, demonstrate excellence as educators, and are making their mark as exceptional researchers, poised to shape their fields. Designed for young scholars working towards tenure, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship is a "genius grant" that will emphasize the balance between scholarly excellence and commitment to teaching practice that draws on new approaches to pedagogy, creating a new level of engagement for students in and beyond the classroom. In short, Fellows will be emerging heroes in their fields, on a clear trajectory to become great college educators. In its inaugural year, the Course Hero-WW Fellowship will identify five outstanding junior faculty members. Fellows will receive a one-year grant of $40,000-approximately $30,000 to support the engagement of a student assistant and the balance to be used for research and travel support. Exceptional candidates teach in ways that build student confidence and mastery of a subject; encourage critical thinking; explore foundational concepts through the lens of broader themes and global events; promote the power of learning communities beyond the classroom; leverage technology to complement the classroom experience; consider and serve different learning styles; prepare students for lifelong learning; and can serve as replicable teaching models for other educators. Selection takes place in June 2018. The five Fellows will be invited to attend the Course Hero Education Summit in July 2018, where their Fellowships will be announced.

Established Investigator Awards of up to $250,000 per year over two years will be awarded to eligible investigators who are five or more years from completion of their fellowship training or postdoctoral program, or to applicants who have previously received an Early Career Award from the foundation or an RO1 grant or its equivalent.

The Campus Program encourages a comprehensive coordinated community approach that enhances victim safety, provides services for victims and supports efforts to hold offenders accountable. The funding supports activities that develop and strengthen trauma informed victim services and strategies to prevent, investigate, respond and prosecute sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence and stalking. The development of campus-wide coordinated responses involving campus victim service providers, law enforcement/campus safety officers, health providers, housing officials, administrators, student leaders, faith-based leaders, representatives from student organizations, and disciplinary board members is critical. To be effective, campus responses must also link to local off-campus criminal justice agencies and service providers, including local law enforcement agencies, prosecutors' offices, courts, and nonprofit, nongovernmental victim advocacy and victim services organizations. Campuses are encouraged to create or revitalize large-scale efforts that treat sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, and stalking as serious offenses by adopting effective policies and protocols, developing victim services and programs that prioritize victim safety, ensuring offender accountability, and implementing effective prevention approaches. Colleges and universities should demonstrate to every student that these crimes will not be tolerated, that perpetrators will face serious consequences, and that holistic services are available for victims.

The goal of Health Policy Research Scholars is to create a large cadre of diverse doctoral students from a wide variety of research-focused disciplines-students whose research, connections, and leadership will inform and influence policy toward a Culture of Health. Specifically, we aim to recruit doctoral students from a variety of fields/disciplines (e.g., urban planning, political science, economics, ethnography, education, social work, sociology) who are training to be researchers. For the 2018 cohort, the Health Policy Research Scholars program will enroll up to 40 scholars interested in learning to translate their research into health policy and who are from underrepresented populations and/or disadvantaged backgrounds. Examples of eligible individuals include, but are not limited to, first-generation college graduates; individuals from lower socioeconomic backgrounds; individuals from racial and ethnic groups underrepresented in doctoral programs; and individuals with disabilities. Scholars in this program-which is designed to enhance and enrich the doctoral program-will complete the Health Policy Research Scholars program concurrently with their doctoral program.

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) is to provide opportunities to CDC programs in CDC Centers/Institutes/Offices (CIOs) for strengthening population health and public health practice through specific Workforce Improvement Projects (WIPs). WIPs are non-research domestic or international projects that provide workforce development opportunities in academic or public health practice settings. These public health practice projects are developed and funded by CIOs and conducted by CDC's academic association partners or their members (e.g., colleges, universities, or residency programs) through the administration of extramural sub-awards. Founded in 1985, amfAR, the Foundation for AIDS Research works to end the global AIDS epidemic through innovative research and evidence-based public policies. To advance this mission, the organization is inviting applications for the Allan Rosenfield Internship and Fellowship Program. Established to honor the distinguished public health leader Allan Rosenfield, M.D., dean for twenty-two years of Columbia University's Mailman School of Public Health, chair of amfAR's program board, and a longtime member of the foundation's board of trustees, the Rosenfeld Fellowship program has been developed to advance the careers of exceptional college undergraduates and graduate students who aspire to become leaders in public health and the fight against the HIV/AIDS epidemic. To that end, the program trains fellows to become effective leaders in public health by immersing them in policy writing, research, and advocacy. Successful candidates are expected to conduct original writing and research related to the domestic and global HIV/AIDS epidemic as well as advocate to members of Congress and their staff, organize meetings and conferences, and participate in community briefings.

To be eligible, applicants must be an established educational institution or qualifying sports organization (club team, high school team/athletic program, college team/athletic program, community athletic center/field, and/or nonprofit athletic program).

Arthritis has a profound economic, societal and personal impact. Medical care costs and earnings losses among adults with arthritis were over $303 billion in 2013.(1) Arthritis affects more than one in four adults in the United States, or 54 million+ adults which will increase to 78 million by 2040, and limits 24 million in performing daily tasks.(2) One in 3 adults in rural areas has arthritis and over half of these have arthritis-attributable activity limitation.(3) Arthritis is significant, not just because of its negative impact on function, physical activity and quality of life, but because it is associated with leading causes of death, such as heart disease and diabetes.(4,5) Arthritis can also limit physical activity, which is recommended management for all of these conditions. The rising number of adults with arthritis and associated pain and activity limitations, and its ability to complicate the management of other chronic conditions and risk factors responsible for death, presents a critical public health problem.(2) Increased physical activity and participation in self-management education programs can help adults with arthritis reduce or manage pain and limitations.(6) The American College of Rheumatology's 2012 osteoarthritis management guidelines recommend exercise as a key, nondrug strategy to manage arthritis symptoms.(7) Adults with arthritis can reduce pain and activity limitations by up to 40% by engaging in PA and other management strategies.

To advance this mission, the association established a Research Grant Program through the ACSM Foundation, its charitable arm, in 1989. In 2017, the foundation awarded approximately $141,056 in grants to twenty-three student researchers and young investigators. Through the program, grants of up to $10,000 will be awarded to support basic and applied research in exercise science in 2018.

This Challenge encourages college and graduate students to develop innovative information dissemination tools, instruments, or devices that help spread evidence-based information about SCD, so that people living with the disease can live better, healthier lives.

In an effort to support cardiovascular quality and performance improvement, the ACC provides funding opportunities that support future cardiovascular quality initiatives (QI) or performance improvement (PI), particularly those that highlight the importance of accreditation. Funding to support these projects is made possible by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care (SCPC), which was a nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the care and outcomes of patients worldwide with suspected acute coronary syndrome, heart failure, and atrial fibrillation through innovative cross-disciplinary processes. Its merger with the American College of Cardiology Foundation (ACCF) in 2016 provided an opportunity to leverage the accreditation strength of the SCPC into the large portfolio of services the ACCF offers. To preserve the legacy of the SCPC, an endowment was created to support future cardiovascular QI or PI, particularly those efforts that highlight the importance of accreditation. Grants are targeted primarily to new or junior investigators within seven years of attaining a terminal degree (e.g., PhD, EdD), and are expected to provide seed-money support after which further funding will be sought from other sources.
