The purpose of this initiative is to enhance screening and treatment for mental and substance use disorders in HRSA Ryan White HIV/AIDS Program funded sites through implementation research, to advance the goals of the ending the HIV epidemic (EHE) initiative. The EHE initiative, coordinated by the HHS Office of the Assistant Secretary of Health, focuses on the four pillars - Diagnose, Treat, Prevent, and Respond - that are the key strategies to the EHE initiative that together can end the HIV epidemic in the U.S. Success of the EHE initiative depends on trusted partnerships among local and state health departments, communities, service providers, and research institutions. This initiative seeks to strengthen the research/service delivery collaboration between NIH grantees and HRSA-funded HIV care sites, with the goal of increasing retention in HIV care and viral suppression through implementation of evidence-based mental disorder and substance use screening, prevention, and treatment.

Substantial progress has been made in the development and testing of efficacious theory-based developmentally focused prevention interventions designed to address modifiable proximal risk and protective factors with the goal of having an impact on distal mental health outcomes, including suicide behaviors and the occurrence of serious mental illness. Pediatric-serving primary care (including obstetrics/gynecological for pregnancy and post-partum, pediatric care, family practice, adolescent medicine) is a health care setting that holds potential for the implementation of mental health prevention interventions because it offers broad access and is non-stigmatizing. In addition, there is the potential for prevention interventions found to be efficacious in the primary care setting to be endorsed by the United States Preventive Services Task Force (USPSTF) and covered under insurance. Because pediatric primary care offers broad access and is non-stigmatizing, it may be an appropriate setting for reaching populations who experience mental health disparities, including racial/ethnic minority groups, sexual and gender minorities, individuals living in rural areas, socioeconomically disadvantaged persons, or any other subgroup with documented disparities in prevalence of mental illnesses, mental illness trajectories, access to prevention services, and quality and outcomes of mental health care. Accordingly, this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) encourages studies that involve diverse populations, including groups that might experience health disparities, and as appropriate, it encourages examination of whether prevention services in primary care can potentially reduce or eliminate disparities.

This FOA invites applications that propose to develop novel research infrastructure that will advance the science of aging in specific areas requiring interdisciplinary partnerships or collaborations. This FOA will use the NIH Phased Innovation Award (R21/R33) mechanism to provide up to 2 years of R21 support for initial developmental activities, and up to 3 years of R33 support for expanded activities. Through this award, investigators will develop a sustainable research infrastructure to support projects that address key interdisciplinary aging research questions.

This FOA invites applications that propose to support advanced-stage development and utilization of novel research infrastructure to advance the science of aging in specific areas requiring interdisciplinary partnerships or collaborations. This FOA will use the NIH Exploratory/Developmental Grants Phase II mechanism to provide support for expanded activities. Applicants are expected to have an existing research infrastructure developed, either through PA-12-064, or with other NIH or non-NIH support. Through this award, investigators will develop a mature and sustainable research infrastructure to support projects that address key interdisciplinary aging research questions.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is soliciting requests for access to dental practice-based research network (PBRN) resources for developmental/exploratory, pilot, and/or survey studies to be conducted in the to be conducted in the dental PBRN. Successful applicants will be given access to the NIDCR-funded dental PBRN infrastructure.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) invites research to develop, characterize, and validate new, unconventional, or innovative non-rodent mammalian models of late-onset (sporadic) Alzheimer's Disease (AD). These new models are expected to recapitulate molecular, cellular, neuropathological, behavioral, and/or cognitive hallmarks and aspects of late-onset AD.Research supported under this FOA is expected to provide new investigative tools to identify the gaps in current knowledge related to molecular mechanisms of late-onset AD and identify potential therapeutic targets.
