    The Secretary of Agriculture has a congressionally designated advisory council that assists the U.S. Forest Service in establishing the grant categories and recommendations of final proposals for the Forest Service to consider. This is the National Urban and Community Forestry Advisory Council (Council).The Council serves to advise the Secretary of Agriculture on the status of the nation's urban and community forests and related natural resources. The Council seeks to establish sustainable urban and community forests, by encouraging communities of all sizes to manage and protect their natural resources, which, if well managed, improves the public's health, well-being, economic vitality, and creates resilient ecosystems for present and future generations.Urban and Community Forestry Program RequirementsThe Council recommends urban and community forestry projects that have national or multi-state application and impact through the U.S. Forest Service's competitive Urban and Community Forestry Challenge Cost-Share Grant Program. A proposal's content must meet the Urban and Community Forestry program authorities as designated by Congress in the Cooperative Forestry Assistance Act, (Section 9 PDF, pp. 19-24) State & Private Cooperative Forestry Handbook of Programs and the annual criteria set forth by the Council. 2013 Grant RFP - SFI Primary - 0 views

    The Sustainable Forestry Initiative® (SFI) Inc. is pleased to announce the 2013 Request for Proposals (RFP) for the SFI® Conservation and Community Partnerships Grant Program. In 2013, SFI will award over $250,000 for projects supporting sustainable forestry, bringing total 2013 investments to $400,000 with previously awarded multi-year research grants. The SFI Conservation and Community Partnerships Grant Program supports collaborative projects between non-profit organizations, SFI program participants and other stakeholders which support SFI objectives. Since 2010, SFI has awarded 33 grants for a total of over $1.32 million. Further, these funds are leveraged with other project partner contributions, for a total of just over $4.8 million in investments in these projects.

TREE Fund Research Fellowships are multi-year grants, designed to empower transformative arboriculture research by emerging scholars, in support of the TREE Fund's research priorities. While rigorous, actionable research findings are the primary desired outcome of this program, Research Fellowships are also purposefully designed to empower the academic arboriculture community for years to come - by investing in the careers of pre-tenured professors and scientists in meaningful ways that support their own professional development, even as they expand the knowledge base in their respective fields.

    Launched in 2005 as a partnership between Walmart Stores and the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, Acres for America, NFWF's premier land conservation program, was established to provide urgently needed funding for projects that conserve important large-scale habitats for fish, wildlife, and plants through land acquisitions and perpetual conservation easements. The program gives preferential consideration to proposals that demonstrate potential to achieve more than one of the program's priorities, which include conserving critical habitats for birds, fish, plants, and wildlife; connecting existing protected lands to unify wild places and protect critical migration routes; providing access to the outdoors for people; and ensuring the future of local economies that depend on forestry, ranching, and wildlife.

Forest Finance and Investment Incubator - 0 views

    The "Forest Finance and Investment Incubator" Program, a cooperative agreement that will spur private sector financing of national and sub-national climate strategies. The Forest Finance and Investment Incubator program will utilize existing strategies and developing country frameworks to assess readiness for the development of concrete financial investment plans for forests and other landscapes. These investment plans will lead to the identification of mechanisms for investment from the U.S. forestry and agriculture sectors that mobilize financial resources for downstream forest activities and projects.
