  •
The Bring Back the Natives program, an initiative of the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF), invests in conservation activities that restore, protect, and enhance native populations of sensitive or listed fish species across the United States, especially in areas on or adjacent to federal agency lands. The program emphasizes coordination between private landowners and federal agencies, tribes, corporations, and states to improve the ecosystem functions and health of watersheds. Priority will be given to projects that address the leading factors in native fish species decline such as habitat alteration, environmental change, and invasive species. Grant awards will generally range in size from $50,000 to $100,000, and require at least one-to-one matching funds. Eligible applicants include local, state, federal, and tribal governments and agencies; special districts; nonprofit organizations; and schools and universities. The pre-proposal deadline is June 28, 2018; invited full proposals will be due August 23, 2018. Visit the NFWF website to review the 2018 Request for Proposals.

The U.S. Geological Survey (USGS) Great Lakes Science Center is offering a funding opportunity for research to improve understanding of fish community variation in rivers of Ontario, Canada relative to multi-scale landscape characteristics. Natural resource managers in Canada are interested to understand how fish communities respond to human activities in catchments across a range of natural landscape contexts. To address this need, data collected in four river basins spanning a range of geologic, temperature, agriculture, urban, dam, and downstream connectivity characteristics will be investigated. Specifically, the research will investigate the relative importance of different scales of influence (e.g., local vs. valley section vs. catchment) on variation in fish community composition and structure.

Sustain Our Great Lakes Offers Funding for On-the-Ground Habitat Restoration and Enhanc... - 0 views

  •
Sustain Our Great Lakes is a public-private partnership that works to sustain, restore, and protect fish, wildlife, and habitat in the Great Lakes basin by leveraging funding, building conservation capacity, and directing partners and resources toward key ecological issues. The program achieves this mission, in part, by awarding grants for on-the-ground habitat restoration and enhancement. Administered by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation, the program is accepting applications for competitive funding to be awarded through the 2013 funding cycle. In 2013, grant funding will be awarded in three categories - habitat restoration, delisting of beneficial use impairments within Great Lakes areas of concern, and private landowner technical assistance. Applicants must indicate which of these categories are pertinent to their proposed projects. A single proposal may address more than one of these categories, but proposals need not address multiple categories to be competitive. In past years, Sustain Our Great Lakes offered funding through two grants programs, Stewardship Grants and Community Grants, which differed primarily in terms of dollar amount. This year the program is offering funding through a single funding opportunity, and all applicants are asked to submit applications to the comprehensive program regardless of the size of the funding request. Full consideration will be given to all applications irrespective of the amount requested.

World Trout Initiative Grant | Instrumentl - 0 views

  •
The World Trout Initiative funds only groups and efforts working to restore and protect wild, self-sustainable trout, salmon, and other fish species within their native range. This includes both indigenous fresh and salt water fish. We believe that the best way to accomplish this over the long-term is by ensuring that populations have high quality habitat and adequate stream flows, can migrate between habitats without human intervention, are not negatively impacted by hatchery and aquaculture operations, have protection from harmful non-native species and disease, and are not over-harvested. We look for innovative groups that produce measurable results and work on long term solutions to root causes of the problem. Your efforts should be quantifiable, with specific goals, objectives, and action plans, and should include measures for evaluating success. Because we are a privately held company, we have the freedom to fund groups off the beaten path that base solutions on sound science.

FY18 Saltonstall Kennedy Competition - 0 views

  •
The Saltonstall-Kennedy Act established a fund (known as the S-K fund) used by the Secretary of Commerce to provide grants or cooperative agreements for fisheries research and development projects addressing aspects of U.S. fisheries, including, but not limited to, harvesting, processing, marketing, and associated business infrastructures. Under this authority, grants and cooperative agreements are made on a competitive basis (subject to availability of funding) to assist in carrying out projects related to U.S. commercial and recreational fisheries. The term "fisheries" encompasses wild capture, marine aquaculture and recreational fishing. The objective of the S-K Grant Program is to address the needs of the fisheries and fishing communities in optimizing economic benefits by building and maintaining sustainable fisheries and practices, dealing with the impacts of conservation and management measures, and increasing other opportunities to use existing infrastructure to support keeping working waterfronts viable. U.S. fisheries include any fishery, commercial or recreational, that is, or may be, engaged in by citizens or nationals of the United States. Proposals submitted to this competition must address at least one of the following priorities: Marine Aquaculture; Adapting to Environmental Change and Other Long Term Ecosystem Change; Promotion, Development and Marketing; or Territorial Science.

NOAA Coastal Resilience Grants Program (FY 2018) - 0 views

  •
The principal objective of the NOAA Coastal Resilience Grants Program is to implement projects that build resilience of U.S. coastal communities and ecosystems. In Fiscal Year (FY) 2018, this solicitation is seeking coastal habitat restoration projects that build resilience by conserving and restoring sustainable ecosystem processes and functions and reducing the vulnerability of coastal communities and infrastructure from the impacts of extreme weather events, climate hazards, and changing ocean conditions. This program supports activities that restore or create natural infrastructure and natural landscape features to provide valuable ecosystem functions and services, such as habitat for fish, improved water quality and quantity, flood reduction, and erosion protection. Proposed projects should also support sustainable fisheries managed by NOAA under the Magnuson-Stevens Fisheries Conservation and Management Act (Managed Species), contribute to the recovery of protected resources managed by NOAA under the Endangered Species Act (Listed Species) - including species identified by NMFS as "Species in the Spotlight," and/or benefit native fish species of the Great Lakes.
