URI was selected to receive this project based on continuation of collaborative effort and an expansion of work initiated several years ago to track movements of birds at regional scales using digital VHF (nanotag) technology. This work will build on previous successes by maintaining a network of existing tracking towers along the U.S. Atlantic Coast, facilitating coordination of various nanotag projects on shared frequency, and completing meta-analyses of existing tracking data to address priorities of the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service and the National Refuge System and Division of Migratory Birds.

This Cooperative Agreement is a 5-year project for development and implementation of a Native Water Leasing Pilot Program for the Middle Rio Grande (MRG) to be developed and implemented jointly by the National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) and the Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation) in coordination with the Middle Rio Grande Conservancy District (MRGCD). Water acquired under the Program will be used to support implementation of the December 2016 Final Biological Opinion for Bureau of Reclamation, Bureau of Indian Affairs, and Non-Federal Water Management and Maintenance Activities on the Middle Rio Grande, New Mexico (2016 BiOp). The primary focus of the Cooperative Agreement is to develop and implement the cooperative pilot Program with MRGCD and willing sellers over a 5-year implementation period to acquire water for environmental use in the MRG. Through pilot implementation, the Program will set the stage for expanded native water leasing and other voluntary measures at scale as win-win solutions for the river, local communities, agricultural producers, and MRGCD over the long term. Further, it provides a key component of a large-scale long-term opportunity to combine instream water leasing with the restoration of riparian and upper watershed habitats along with other initiatives to advance landscape-scale restoration in the MRG. Areas where collaboration with other agencies and partner organizations will broaden the scope of the effort, leverage additional funding, and increase the prospects for long-term success will be identified throughout the effort.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service Western Golden Eagle Team is funding research to provide scientifically defensible spatial products and conservation strategies to support conservation and management efforts of Golden Eagles. The highest priority is to develop species distributional models at the scale of CEC Level III Ecoregions during all parts of the golden eagleâ¿¿s annual cycle, for which the breeding season is of particular importance. Also of high priority is the need to evaluate the spatial distribution of a variety of potential risks to golden eagles to identify where risks can be most efficiently avoided. The Western Golden Eagle Team proposes to partner with scientists at Humboldt State University (HSU) to develop predictive models of Golden Eagle breeding habitat in the western United States, and to evaluate the ability of these models to support estimation of population distribution and abundance.

The fishery research program consists of a portfolio of funded basic (discovery, descriptive, or hypothesis generation) and applied (descriptive or hypothesis-driven) research organized by theme areas given below. Research theme areas are: Human Dimensions of Great Lakes Fishery Management -- Human dimensions-related issues play a central role in Great Lakes fisheries in terms of values and beliefs, management challenges and desired outcomes, economics, and governance. Fishery objectives often focus on a limited number of ecological and social management goals; this theme aims to expand our understanding of the human dimension of fishery management and help in having that dimension reflected in fishery management practices. Physical Processes and Fish Recruitment in Large Lakes -- TBD. Energy Dynamics of Great Lakes Food Webs -- To understand energy dynamics in Great Lakes food webs and the role of food web members in structuring resilient communities and ecosystems. The Great Lakes Fishery Commission (Commission) grants funds to academic institutions, government agencies, and private corporations through research contracts. A Principal Investigator (PI) for each research project must be designated; the PI must be a permanent employee of the institution receiving the funds who can be held accountable for ensuring the work is completed as outlined in the contract.

The U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service (the Service), Shiawassee National Wildlife Refuge (NWR) requests interested organizations to submit applications for the construction management of Ferguson Bayou hydrologic reconnection project. The Service will provide a final set of signed/sealed construction plans and obtain all local, state, and federal permits prior to construction. The entity will provide construction management services for the installation of multiple water control structures and the excavation of the Maankiki-Ferguson connection ditch and Ferguson-Spaulding connection ditch per design plan specifications provided by the Service. Construction management services will include: -Development of a federal procurement compliant bid package and solicitation of bids from sub-contractors to complete the work. -Provide construction management, oversight, and on-site inspections of all aspects of construction to ensure all aspects of the project are built to design specifications. -Ensure all contractors wash and clean equipment prior to entering Refuge (as outlined in the design plans) to prevent invasive species spread. -Ensure all fuel stored on the Refuge by sub-contractors is compliant with the Service policy for fuel storage and containment. -Ensure any damage to existing Refuge infrastructure (roads, trails, signs, gates, observation platforms) are repaired to pre-construction condition (this may include but not limited to road grading and dike repair upon completion of the project). -Routinely communicate construction activities, timelines, and any issues that may cause delays with the Service program officer. -Provide final survey of project to the Service in an ArcGIS and AutoCAD compatible format.

The National Fish and Wildlife Foundation (NFWF) is soliciting proposals to improve populations of focal seabirds through actions that improve survival and reproduction. Seabirds represent a diverse group of birds whose life history cycles are intricately linked to marine and coastal resources. Seabirds forage at sea, often far from breeding colonies; disperse over vast distances; and are both colonial and solitary breeders. The overlap of seabirds and humans on oceanic islands and in the marine environment has driven many species to the brink of extinction. Consequently, a major challenge to effective seabird conservation is to mitigate human-induced threats at multiple temporal and spatial scales; in other words, to protect and restore locations utilized by seabirds throughout their entire life cycle (on both land and at sea). The Seabird Conservation Program is supported by the Pacific Seabird Program Business Plan. Available funding for the Seabird Conservation Program varies between years and depending on implementation needs of the business plan. This request for proposals will award approximately $4,000,000 in support of Pacific seabird conservation efforts in 2020.

Created by Congress in 1984, NFWF directs public conservation dollars to the most pressing environmental needs and matches those investments with private funds. NFWFÿfds method is simple and effective: to work with a full complement of individuals, foundations, government agencies, non-profits, and corporations to identify and fund targeted conservation challenges throughout the nation where a focused investment is likely to result in a conservation success.

The Bureau of Reclamation (Reclamation), Lower ColoradoRegion, Yuma Area Office (YAO) is requesting proposals to fund projects for activitiesin support of their Endangered Species and Environmental Restoration programsin Federal FY 2019 (October 1, 2018 through September 30, 2019). The YAO periodically makes funding availablefor conducting activities for Threatened and Endangered (T&E) species andtheir habitats under Section 7(a)1 of the Endangered Species Act (ESA) underthe FWCAP. The Standard Grants Program is a competitive, matching grants program that supports public-private partnerships carrying out projects in Canada, the United States, and Mexico. These projects must involve long-term protection, restoration, and/or enhancement of wetlands and associated uplands habitats. In Mexico, projects may also include technical training, environmental education and outreach, organizational infrastructure development, and sustainable-use studies.

The Small Grants Program is a competitive, matching grants program that supports public-private partnerships carrying out projects in the United States that further the goals of the North American Wetlands Conservation Act. These projects must involve long-term protection, restoration, and/or enhancement of wetlands and associated uplands habitats for the benefit of all wetlands-associated migratory birds.
