This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) invites applications for centers to support transdisciplinary teams of clinical and mental health services researchers, behavioral scientists, social scientists, health information and communications technologists, health systems engineers, decision scientists, and mental health stakeholders (e.g., service users, family members, clinicians, payers) to engage in high-impact studies that will significantly advance clinical practice and generate knowledge that will fuel transformation of mental health care in the United States. Advanced Laboratories for Accelerating the Reach and Impact of Treatments for Youth and Adults with mental Illness (ALACRITY) Research Centers will support the rapid development, testing, and refinement of novel and integrative approaches for (1) optimizing the effectiveness of therapeutic or preventive interventions for mental disorders within well-defined target populations; (2) organizing and delivering optimized mental health services within real world treatment settings; and (3) continuously improving the quality, impact, and durability of optimized interventions and service delivery within diverse care systems. The ALACRITY Centers program is intended to support research that demonstrates an extraordinary level of synergy across disciplines and has a high potential for increasing the public health impact of existing and emerging mental health interventions and service delivery strategies. The Centers are intended for transdisciplinary projects that could not be achieved using standard research project grant mechanisms. The ALACRITY Centers program is also expected to provide opportunities for graduate students, postdoctoral researchers, and new investigators to participate in transdisciplinary, T2 translational mental health research.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2019 National Center of Excellence for Infant and Early Childhood Mental Health Consultation (Short Title: CoE-IECMHC) grant. The purpose of this program is to advance the implementation of high quality infant and early childhood Mental health consultation (IECMHC) across the nation through the development of tools, resources, training, and mentorship to the infant and early childhood Mental health field. The primary goals of the CoE are to promote the healthy social and emotional development of infants and young children, and to prevent, to the greatest extent possible, the onset of serious emotional disturbance (SED). The CoE has been and will continue to be instruMental in helping states, tribes, and communities to support early childhood providers and help them to achieve their goals of healthy children and families, school readiness, and success in school and beyond.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage research applications to develop and test the effectiveness and implementation of family navigator models designed to promote early access, engagement and coordination of mental health treatment and services for children and adolescents who are experiencing early symptoms of mental health problems. For the purposes of this FOA, NIMH defines a family navigator model as a health care professional or paraprofessional whose role is to deploy a set of strategies designed to rapidly engage youth and families in needed treatment and services, work closely with the family and other involved treatment and service providers to optimize care and monitor the trajectory of mental health symptoms and outcomes over time. Applicants are encouraged to develop and test the navigator model's ability to promote early access, engagement and coordination of mental health treatment and services for children and adolescents as soon as symptoms are detected. Of interest are navigator models that coordinate needed care strategies, determine the "personalized match" to the level of needed service amount, frequency and intensity, and harness novel technologies to track and monitor the trajectory of clinical, functional and behavioral progress toward achieving intended services outcomes.

Society for Research in Child Development Victoria S. Levin Grant The grant serves the promising pre-tenured, junior investigator by: 1. Supporting release time from duties during which time the grantee writes and submits an application in the area of early childhood mental health to the NIH. This support compensates the grantee's unit/department for the work from which the grantee is released. Having adequate time to develop and submit a grant application is essential for early career success. 2. Providing travel funds for a trip to NIH to meet program staff. This support helps the grantee develop meaningful contacts with NIH program staff who can guide the application preparation and revision (funding usually requires two application submissions). 3.Providing a pre-review of the candidate's NIH application. This support allows the mentor and grantee to benefit from an external critique of the NIH application prior to its submission. In our experience, this pre-review heightens the chances of early success in the first round of review and the mentor is able to guide the grantee in responding to reviews. Aiming to heighten the chances of early success in achieving federal funding for developmentally-informed research that addresses the early foundations of children's mental health and well-being, the Victoria S. Levin Grant for Early Career Success in Young Children's mental Health Research was created to honor and carry forward this focus of Victoria S. Levin's life work.

This targeted 5-year cooperative agreement is to be awarded to create a national center of excellence to develop, implement and evaluate curriculum in child welfare agency settings that will: Support the child welfare workforce to better understand social and emotional needs of children and families involved in the child welfare system. Support the child welfare workforce to better screen and assess for social and emotional needs of children and families. Support the child welfare workforce to understand the effective interventions and active ingredients of those interventions and how to ensure children and families receive those interventions. Increase exposure to active ingredients and Evidence Based Practices for agency staff through enhanced curriculum and practicums. Provide professional development opportunities for agency staff by developing, delivering, and evaluating course offerings, continuing education, and certificate programs aimed at addressing the shortage of child welfare practitioners prepared to deliver evidence based child and family treatment. Provide curriculum aimed at assisting case managers to make excellent decisions about how to refer and evaluate the effectiveness of the services provided to the children and families in their care. Develop decision making tools for agency leadership that might assist them in assessing their current mental health service array. These tools would provide direction about the cost and effectiveness of the mental health services in their current service array, assist the administrator in evaluating if the current mental health services are achieving intended outcomes, and provide guidance on best practice in implementing evidence based treatment services.

: The purpose of this program is to improve access to treatment and support services for youth and young adults, ages 16-25, who have a serious emotional disturbance (SED) or a serious mental illness (SMI), hereafter referred to as serious mental disorders. It is expected that this program will improve emotional and behavioral health functioning so that this population of youth and young adults can maximize their potential to assume adult roles and responsibilities and lead full and productive lives.Youth and young adults with SMI or SED between the ages of 16-25, including those with intellectual developmental disabilities, may not be working, in school, or in vocational and higher education programs. Some face the additional challenge of experiencing homelessness, or being in contact with the juvenile or criminal justice system, thereby increasing the likelihood of admissions to hospitals, mental health, and/or correctional facilities.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage practice-based research aimed at testing the effectiveness of developmentally-focused theory-based efficacious prevention interventions which may impact mental health outcomes, including suicide behaviors and serious mental illness. The research should test prevention approaches that are both scalable and sustainable for implementation in pediatric-serving primary care settings, with an emphasis on populations experiencing mental health disparities. This FOA seeks to supports clinical trials to establish the effectiveness of scalable prevention interventions when implemented using available resources within pediatric-serving primary care settings.

Funds are available from the Group Foundation for Advancing Mental Health to support group psychotherapy research that focuses on one of five clinical populations: children, the elderly, the chronic Mentally ill, substance abusers and significantly ill patients with marked functional impairment.  The Group Psychotherapy Foundation is seeking research-focused, rather than program-focused, applications.

Our goal is to supplement existing mental health programming, and help close gaps both within and outside the school environment to address loneliness, anxiety, depression, and suicide prevention. We will fund programs that foster collaboration between stakeholders including school administrators and teachers, clinicians, and local and national nonprofits to address mental health and emotional well-being challenges for children. The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Center for Substance Abuse Treatment (CSAT) is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2018 Enhancement and Expansion of Treatment and Recovery Services for Adolescents, Transitional Aged Youth, and their Families grant program (Short Title: Youth and Family TREE). The purpose of this program is to enhance and expand comprehensive treatment, early intervention, and recovery support services for adolescents (ages 12-18), transitional aged youth (ages 16-25), and their families/primary caregivers with substance use disorders (SUD) and/or co-occurring substance use and Mental disorders.

This program will provide funding to support reentry strategies that address treatment services for youth with co-occurring substance abuse problems and mental health disorders, reentry services for gang-involved youth, and training and technical assistance to improve community supervision practices for juveniles who are placed on probation or are being released from secure confinement. This solicitation will provide grants under the following categories. Category 1: Implementing Evidence-Based Substance Abuse and mental Health Treatment Services Category 2: Reentry Antigang Strategies and Programs Category 3: Community Supervision Review and Enhancement Training and Technical Assistance

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Head Start (OHS) announces the availability of approximately $7,582,500 to be competitively awarded for the purpose of operating a National Center on Health, Behavioral Health, and Safety (NC HBHS). The NC HBHS will provide training and technical assistance (TTA) that reflects current evidence, is research-informed, and promotes best practices. The NC HBHS will strengthen professional development outcomes for staff and improve outcomes for children and families enrolled in Head Start and/or Early Head Start programs. The NC HBHS TTA efforts will lead to improved health, behavioral health, and safety of children and families. Because of the complex work the NC HBHS will conduct, the recipient will be expected to bring together knowledgeable subrecipients within the fields child nutrition and oral health; physical activity; health (including hearing and vision screening); behavioral health promotion and prevention, including the promotion of mental health, resilience and wellbeing; and the prevention of mental illness and substance use disorders; safety practices; child and adult trauma; child incidents and maltreatment; emergency preparedness, response and recovery; prenatal care; environmental health and safety; and staff wellness.

The Klingenstein Third Generation Foundation ("KTGF") funds programs in children's mental health, principally in the areas of childhood/adolescent depression and ADHD. It also funds medical student programs in child and adolescent psychiatry at select medical institutions. Through these programs, the KTGF seeks to further research in pediatric ADHD and pediatric depression, cultivate more child and adolescent psychiatrists and increase knowledge of mental health in physicians.

The purpose of this program is to more effectively respond to the needs of children, youth, and young adults with serious emotional disturbances (SED) and their families by providing information, referrals, and support; and to create a mechanism for families to participate in state and local mental health services planning and policy development. This population of focus will hereafter be referred to as children and youth. SAMHSA expects that this program will be a catalyst for transforming mental health and related systems in the state by strengthening coalitions among family organizations and between family members, policy makers, and service providers.

Call for Nominations for the American Psychological Foundation's 2014 Division 37 Diane J. Willis Early Career Award, which supports talented young psychologists making contributions towards informing, advocating for, and improving the mental health and well-being of children and families particularly through policy.

NIDA and the following NIH Institutes, Centers, and Programs, NIAAA, NICHD, NIMH, NIMHD, NINDS, and ECHO intend to publish a funding opportunity announcement to solicit applications to propose and test the feasibility of research study designs addressing the impact of pre- and postnatal substance exposure (including opioids, opioid treatment medications, cannabis, alcohol, tobacco, other prescription or illicit substances, alone or in combination) on brain, social, and behavioral development, mental illness, and substance use. In addition to planning and testing the feasibility of study designs, awardees will be expected to participate in several grantee meetings to share lessons learned and begin to develop the network of sites needed to conduct this study.

The Executive Office of the President, Office of National Drug Control Policy (ONDCP), and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS), Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Substance Abuse Prevention (CSAP) are accepting applications for Fiscal Year (FY) 2019 Drug-Free Communities (DFC) Support Program grants. By statute, the DFC Support Program has two goals: Establish and strengthen collaboration among communities, public and private non-profit agencies, as well as federal, state, local, and tribal governments to support the efforts of community coalitions working to prevent and reduce substance abuse among youth*. Reduce substance abuse among youth and, over time, reduce substance abuse among adults by addressing the factors in a community that increase the risk of substance abuse and promoting the factors that minimize the risk of substance abuse.

Supported by the Elaine Schlosser Lewis Fund, the program annually provides an award of $15,000 to a child and adolescent psychiatry resident or junior faculty who has an interest in beginning a career in child and adolescent mental health research. The program is designed to support a young investigator at a critical stage of his/her development and encourage a future career in child and adolescent psychiatry research.
