The Papoose Conservation Wildlife Foundation in Del Mar, California, is unique in that it focuses on both wildlife science and children's experiences in nature and seeks to merge these two missions to see children become the scientists of tomorrow working to preserve wildlife diversity. To advance this mission, the foundation is inviting applications for its Children in Nature and Applied Conservation grants programs. Through the program, grants of up to $5,000 will be awarded in two separate categories: Children in Nature - Programs aimed at providing opportunities for children to explore nature or expand children's appreciation of nature. Programs may include classroom learning but the majority of the program must take place in a natural environment. Preference is given to projects connecting children to lesser-recognized species or habitats. Applied Conservation - Projects focused on the conservation of free-ranging wildlife or plant species in their natural habitat. Work may include the protection of species and/or habitats. Preference is given to projects focused on lesser-recognized species.

The Children's Bureau announces the availability of competitive grant funds authorized by the Adoption Opportunities program. The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement is to award one 18-month discretionary grant to improve hospital-based adoption support services for pregnant and expectant mothers through training of hospital-based adoption support service providers, doctors, and staff who provide pregnancy or adoption information and referrals, using an existing infant adoption awareness training curriculum. The funded project will train these designated staff in accordance with best practice guidelines specific to infant adoption awareness training in providing adoption information and referrals to pregnant women on an equal basis with all other courses of action included in nondirective counseling. Such activities will help ensure that mothers who wish to make an adoption have access to appropriately trained staff and comprehensive supports throughout the adoption process.

This notice solicits applications for the National Maternal and Child Health Data Resource Initiative (DRI), the purpose of which is to support Title V Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Services Block Grant programs (hereafter called Title V Block Grant) and partners in accessing and effectively utilizing national, state and community-level data to inform MCH policy and practice by publishing MCH data and providing related technical assistance and training.

Established in 1962, the Spencer Foundation is dedicated to the belief that research is necessary to the improvement of education. To that end, the foundation supports high-quality investigations of education through its research programs and the strengthening and renewing of the educational research community through its fellowship and training programs and related activities. Through its Small Research Grants Program, the foundation is accepting research proposals for education research projects. In keeping with the foundation's mission, the program aims to fund academic work that will contribute to the improvement of education, broadly conceived. Examples of previously funded projects include an experimental study of how college students use visual representations in solving math problems; a study exploring the process of racial and rural identity formation among African-American high-school students who attend de facto segregated schools in the rural South; and a mixed-methods study focused on the different types of knowledge novice and experienced teachers draw on in teaching reading comprehension. The program awards Grants of up to $50,000. To be eligible, principal investigators and co-PIs must have an earned doctorate in an academic discipline or professional field, or appropriate experience in an education research-related profession. In addition, the PI must be affiliated with a college, university, school district, nonprofit research facility, or nonprofit cultural institution that is willing to serve as the fiscal agent if a grant is awarded.

Alex's Lemonade Stand Foundation is dedicated to raising money and awareness of the causes of childhood cancer. The foundation emerged from the front-yard lemonade stand of four-year-old Alexandra "Alex" Scott, who while fighting cancer herself wanted to raise money to find cures for all children with cancer. Her spirit and determination was inspirational, and by her untimely death at the age of 8, Alex had helped raise $1 million. Today, ALSF is one of the leading funders of pediatric cancer research in the United States and Canada. To advance this mission, ALSF is inviting applications for is Young Investigator Grants program.  Through the program, a grant of up to $150,000 over three years will be awarded in support of research scientists in the early stages of their careers such as postdoctoral or clinical fellows with a commitment to pediatric cancer investigation.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Administration on Children,Youth and Families' (ACYF) Family and Youth Services Bureau (FYSB) announces the availability of funds under the Transitional Living Program (TLP). The Purpose of FYSB's TLP grant program is to implement, enhance, and/or support effective strategies for successful transition to sustainable living for runaway and homeless youth ages 16 to under 22 and/or pregnant and parenting youth ages 16 to under 22 and their dependent child(ren). Projects must provide safe, stable, and appropriate shelter for up to 18 months, which under extenuating circumstances, can be extended to 21 months and provide comprehensive services that supports the transition of homeless youth to self-sufficiency and stable, independent living. Through the provision of shelter and an array of comprehensive services, TLP youth will realize improvements in four core outcome areas (i.e., safe and stable housing, education/employment, permanent connections, and social and emotional well-being). Grants awarded under this announcement will have a start date of September 30, 2019 and will be for a 36-month project period.

The Raechel & Jackie Foundation, a nonprofit organization that works to inspire and enrich the lives of youth in Central America through recreation, the arts, and innovative educational experiences, is accepting grant applications for its 2013 funding cycle. Grant applications are invited from charitable organizations working to provide children in Central America with innovative educational experiences that align with the RJF mission. The foundation seeks to partner with community-based organizations and community-driven projects in Central America that provide resources to educate and provide opportunities that enable youth to address environmental concerns, foster personal growth, and encourage positive lasting change in their communities. Applicant organizations should provide services that meet the needs of children; provide holistic support for children's development that nurtures their voice, leadership capabilities, and active participation in decisions that affect their lives; have a history of effective actions spanning at least three years; demonstrate consistency in their mission, goals, and strategy; propose feasible and innovative projects that closely align with RJF's mission; and demonstrate community interest in implementing the project/program.

The NIH Research Project Grant supports a discrete, specified, circumscribed project in areas representing the specific interests and competencies of the investigator(s). This Parent Funding Opportunity Announcement is for basic science experimental studies involving humans, referred to in NOT-OD-18-212 as prospective basic science studies involving human participants. These studies fall within the NIH definition of a clinical trial and also meet the definition of basic research. Types of studies that should submit under this FOA include studies that prospectively assign human participants to conditions (i.e., experimentally manipulate independent variables) and that assess biomedical or behavioral outcomes in humans for the purpose of understanding the fundamental aspects of phenomena without specific application towards processes or products in mind. Studies conducted with specific applications toward processes or products in mind should submit under the appropriate Clinical Trials Required FOA. The proposed project must be related to the programmatic interests of one or more of the participating NIH Institutes and Centers (ICs) based on their scientific missions.

The Miami Initiative for Advancing, Mentoring and Investing in Women (M.I.A.M.I. WOMEN) awarded nearly $104,000 in Giving Circle grants to students and faculty during the annual Leadership Symposium on April 12, 2018. The purpose of this program is to support jurisdictions with an established gang presence to coordinate gang suppression efforts and activities by prosecutorial and law enforcement agencies. OJJDP has a long history of supporting community efforts to combat gang crime. Through OJJDP's Comprehensive Gang Model, communities can implement a comprehensive approach to gang crime and youth violence reduction. Suppression is a key component of OJJDP's Comprehensive Gang Model. Focused deterrence and suppression strategies can dissuade individuals and gangs from committing crimes. Such approaches highlight the punishments or legal recourse that will ensue in the commission of a crime and discourage the person or group from committing crimes in the future. These efforts, coupled with the other key components of the Comprehensive Gang Model, offer a holistic approach to support the efforts of law enforcement in combatting gang crime and promote public safety in communities. Eligible applicants will be required to implement OJJDP's Comprehensive Gang Model by working with the National Gang Center, and may use grant funds to support gang suppression activities.

This solicitation will focus on targeted efforts to reduce gang activity by focusing on strategies to disrupt recruitment and incentivize desistance by supporting programs that offer alternative support mechanisms for youth. Law enforcement and prosecutorial agencies will be critical partners for this proposed initiative. Funding to prosecutorial and law enforcement agencies would support diversion activities as well as targeted incentives such as tattoo removal and life skill training for youthful gang members seeking to desist from gang activity. OJJDP has a long history of supporting community efforts to combat gang crime. The National Institute on Deafness and Other Communication Disorders (NIDCD) invites applications for Clinical Research Center Grants designed to advance the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and amelioration of human communication disorders. For this announcement, Clinical Research is defined as research involving individuals with communication disorders or data/tissues from individuals with a communication disorder. Examples of such research include but are not limited to, studies of the prevention, pathogenesis, pathophysiology, diagnosis, treatment, management or epidemiology of a disease or disorder of hearing, balance, smell, taste, voice, speech, or language. The EIR program is designed to generate and validate solutions to persistent educational challenges and to support the expansion of those solutions to serve substantially larger numbers of students.

The intended goal of this FOA is to facilitate the development, production, and distribution of pediatric medical devices. Although the FOA is issued by the FDA's Office of Orphan Products Development, the grant application is intended to encompass devices for all pediatric diseases and conditions, not just those that are rare. Applicants will request funding to serve as a nonprofit consortium to provide expert advising and support services to innovators of pediatric medical devices. The advising and services will focus on the total product life cycle for medical devices from concept, through pre-market development, to commercialization, and replacement by subsequent generation of devices.

The mission of the American Legion Child Welfare Foundation is to provide nonprofit organizations with a means to educate the public about the needs of children across the United States. The Foundation supports organizations that contribute to the physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual welfare of children through the dissemination of information about new and innovative programs designed to benefit youth, or through the dissemination of information already possessed by well-established organizations. This notice solicits applications for the R40 Maternal and Child Health (MCH) Field-Initiated Innovative Research Studies (FIRST) Program. The purpose of the MCH FIRST Program grant is to advance the health and wellbeing of MCH populations by supporting innovative, applied, and translational intervention[1] research studies on critical issues affecting MCH populations. [1] For the purpose of this NOFO, an "intervention" is defined to include behavioral, social, or structural / health systems approaches, as well as combination applied clinico-medical and behavioral, social, or structural / health system approaches that contribute to the prevention of diseases or improvement of health (including clinical) outcomes for mothers, children and families at a population level.

The announcement seeks applications from public and private nonprofit entities to establish and operate voluntary family planning services projects, which shall provide family planning services to all persons desiring such services, with priority for services to persons from low-income families. The Title X statute specifies that local and regional public or private nonprofit entities may apply directly to the Secretary for a Title X family planning services grant under this announcement. Family planning services include clinical family planning and related preventive health services; information, education, and counseling related to family planning; and, referral services as indicated.
