The purpose of the RRTCs, which are funded through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program, is to achieve the goals of, and improve the effectiveness of, services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act through well-designed research, training, technical assistance, and dissemination activities in important topical areas as specified by NIDILRR. These activities are designed to benefit rehabilitation service providers, individuals with disabilities, family members, policymakers and other research stakeholders. The purpose of this particular RRTC is to generate new research-based knowledge that can be used to improve outcomes in one or more of the following outcome domains for people with disabilities living in rural communities: community living and participation, employment, and health and function.

The purpose of this particular RRTC is to conduct activities to advance the use and usefulness of disability statistics and demographic data to inform disability policies and practices toward providing full opportunities and accommodations for individuals with disabilities. This includes analyzing disability-relevant nationally representative data, improving survey methods related to people with disabilities of a wide variety, conducting knowledge translation of findings, and creating and implementing a web-based platform for improved public access to data.

The purpose of this Notice of Funding Opportunity Announcement (NOFO) is to conduct surveillance to assess the incidence and prevalence of diabetes among children, adolescents and young adults in the United States and provide estimates by diabetes type, age, sex, race/ethnicity and geographic area. This NOFO has three (3) components to achieve the purpose of the program * Component A focuses on surveillance of incidence and prevalence of diabetes among children and adolescents (<45 years). * Component C serves as a Coordinating Center to provide an infrastructure for standardized approaches, analytical methods, and surveillance measures. It also serves as a repository for the Component A and B data and provides consolidated estimates by diabetes type, age, race/ethnicity and geographic area.

Through this announcement, the Administration for Children and Families solicits applications from local public or private non-profit organizations, including community-based and faith-based organizations, or for-profit agencies within a community that wish to compete for funds that are available to provide Migrant and Seasonal Head Start services to children and families residing in the states of Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico. Funds in the amount of $64,910,486 annually will be available to provide Migrant and Seasonal Head Start program services to eligible children and their families. The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to invite R03 applications to support archiving and documenting existing data sets in order to enable secondary analysis of these data by the scientific community. The priority of this program is to archive data sets within the scientific mission of the NICHD; highest priority is to archive data collected with NICHD support.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to seek applications for the Eunice Kennedy Shriver Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities Research Centers (IDDRCs). This FOA invites applications for research center grants designed to advance the diagnosis, prevention, treatment, and amelioration of intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD). This FOA seeks applications from institutions that meet the qualifications for a multi-disciplinary program of IDD research that will include: 1) Cores that facilitate interdisciplinary and translational research in IDD and its dissemination, and that support IDD-related projects funded by other sources; and 2) at least one specific research project related to one of several focus themes identified as an area of research need in IDD. Funds for the majority of outside research projects using these core facilities come from independent sources including Federal, State, and private organizations.

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), through the Fertility and Infertility (FI) Branch, provides funding for a limited number of research centers in the reproductive sciences.  These centers provide an arena for multidisciplinary interactions among basic and clinical scientists interested in establishing high quality translational research programs in this scientific area.  The centers also serve as national resources for the training and career development of young scientists electing to pursue biomedical research careers in reproduction and infertility.  Finally, center investigators develop and participate in community outreach and education efforts to increase awareness and convey the importance and implications of their research activities to the general public.  Accordingly, the purpose of this FOA is to announce the re-competition of the National Centers for Translational Research in Reproduction and Infertility (NCTRI).  The NCTRI will be administered through the Specialized Research Center (P50) award mechanism.  These centers will form a national network that facilitates and accelerates bidirectional knowledge transfer between the laboratory and clinic with the goal of improving human reproductive health through research excellence and innovation.

Emotional well-being has been defined as an overall positive state of one's emotions, life satisfaction, sense of meaning and purpose, and ability to pursue self-defined goals (Feller SC, Castillo EG, Greenberg JM, et al. Emotional well-being and public health: proposal for a model national initiative. Public Health Reports. 2018;133(2):136-141). Elements of emotional well-being include a sense of balance in emotion, thoughts, social relationships, and pursuits, or lack thereof. The relative importance of each construct will vary across subpopulations and developmental stages. Currently, fundamental consensus concerning the definition and components of emotional well-being, as well as what interventions promote emotional well-being, either as a mediator of health outcomes or as an end in itself, is lacking. In April 2018, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) and the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR), in collaboration with other NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices (National Institute on Aging (NIA), Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)), sponsored a roundtable discussion with the following goals: (1) to gain a deeper insight into the existing research on the role of emotional well-being in health; (2) to create a trans-NIH research program focused on developing, testing, and implementing intervention strategies to promote emotional well-being.

The purpose of this solicitation is to address an urgent gap in crime victim services related to the opioid epidemic and to expand upon existing or establish new programs to provide services to children and youth who are victimized as the result of the opioid crisis. OVC anticipates that this solicitation will support service providers in expanding their current scope and expertise to ensure that children and youth—the most vulnerable victims impacted by the opioid crisis—are supported as they heal from the impact of crime and substance abuse. Research program focus areas identified by the foundation include: Pediatric Health - Projects that promote health and prevent or treat disease. Of particular interest are applied research projects focused on reducing the incidence of neonatal and early childhood illnesses, or those aimed at improving cognitive, social, and emotional aspects of development. Pediatric Nutrition - Projects that assure adequate nutrition to infants and young children, including applied research that evaluates the provision of specific nutrients and their related outcomes. Environmental Hazards (Nutrient Competitors) - Projects that document the impact of, or ameliorate the effects of, environmental hazards on the growth and development of infants and young children. Major target areas for research include new diagnostic tools that might be more rapid, more specific, more sensitive, or less invasive; treatment regimens that are novel, less stressful or painful, more targeted, have fewer side effects, and/or provide optimal dosing; symptom relief; preventative measures; assessment of deficiencies or excesses (vitamins, minerals, drugs, etc.); and risk assessment tools or measures for environmental hazards, trauma, etc. The foundation is interested in supporting projects that will result in "new" information, treatments, or tools that result in a change in practice; it rarely funds projects that are focused on sharing current information with parents or caregivers.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement is to support (1) research to test the efficacy or effectiveness of interventions to prevent initiation and/or escalation of ENDS (electronic nicotine delivery system) use among adolescents; and(2 )research on the impact of tobacco control policies, including ENDS-specific policies, on adolescent ENDS use behavior. Of priority is research that is theoretically based and identifies specific risk and protective factors to target through prevention intervention, or research on policies that can impact adolescent ENDS use. Particularly, for prevention intervention research (e.g., school, community, and clinic-based), collaboration with stakeholders and likely program adopters is required to ensure feasibility for implementation, scalability, dissemination and sustainability. For this funding announcement, individuals as young as 12 and as old as 18 encompass the core target age range. Justification for the specific age or age range of the target population is required, including studies that propose targeting youth outside the core age range.

Program interests include, but are not limited to: disadvantaged youth, public health, women, the environment, the arts, the hungry and the homeless.

Proposed fellowships must fit the Grant Foundation's research interests. The foundation currently supports research designed to understand and improve the everyday settings of youth between the ages of 8 and 25 in the United States. Specifically, the foundation funds studies that enhance the understanding of how youth settings work, how they affect youth development, and how they can be improved; and when, how, and under what conditions research evidence is used in policy and practices that affect youth, and how its use can be improved.

The Office of Community Services (OCS) within the Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announces that competing applications will be accepted for grants to administer projects for the national Assets for Independence (AFI) demonstration of Individual Development Accounts (IDAs). The projects will provide IDAs and related services to low-income individuals. A primary feature of each AFI project is that participants save earned income in an IDA to purchase a home, capitalize or expand a business, or fund postsecondary education or training. As a condition of their federal AFI grant, grantees must provide non-federal funds to support their AFI project in an amount at least equal to the Federal AFI grant amount. The 10/27/2014 application due date for FY 2015 funding will be the last application due date for this FOA. After the 10/27/2014 due date, this FOA will be cancelled. Signature Employment Grants are awarded nationally to fund new pilot initiatives, demonstration projects or social ventures that lead to the generation of new ideas to solve the high unemployment and underemployment of individuals with disabilities. Preference is given for interventions that overcome specific employment barriers related to long-term dependence on public assistance, advance competitive employment in a cost-effective manner, or launch a social enterprise or individual entrepreneurship project. Signature grants are not intended to fund project expansions or bring proven projects to new communities, unless there is a significant scale, scope or replicable component. Innovation lies at the core of all signature employment grants.

The purpose of this project is to support methodologically rigorous research and evaluations (ideally a randomized controlled demonstration field experiment) with practical implications for government-funded juvenile reentry including in areas not limited to screening and assessment, behavioral management, organizational or institutional capacity and structure, cross-system services and coordination, post-release services and supervision, and family engagement and support. OJJDP is particularly interested in studies that focus on effective strategies for juveniles with co-occurring substance abuse and mental health issues; gang involved juveniles; and older juveniles or young adults who are returning to communities struggling with violence and crime.

The intended goal of this FOA is to facilitate the development, production, and distribution of pediatric medical devices. Although the FOA is issued by the FDA's Office of Orphan Products Development, the grant application is intended to encompass devices for all pediatric diseases and conditions, not just those that are rare. Applicants will request funding to serve as a nonprofit consortium to provide expert advising and support services to innovators of pediatric medical devices. The advising and services will focus on the total product life cycle for medical devices from concept, through pre-market development, to commercialization, and replacement by subsequent generation of devices.

The goal of this solicitation is to prevent and reduce youth gang involvement and youth gang violence. Overarching objectives and deliverables include:  Reduce and sustain reductions in community youth violence, particularly gun and gang violence, and victimization.  Prevent violence and promote healing from victimization and exposure to violence.  Convene a task force or working group (this may be an existing group) that meets regularly throughout the project period to identify and address service gaps and barriers, and use funding for a wide variety of intervention and suppression strategies targeting youth who are in a gang or at risk of joining a gang.

Under the 2016 - 2020 Country Development Cooperation Strategy (CDCS), USAID/Zimbabwe anticipates awarding a five-year $25 million cooperative agreement to provide technical assistance to the Ministry of Health and Child Care (MOHCC) at the national level and in Manicaland province. This award will be made through a full and open competition, under which any type of organization is eligible to apply. Building on the achievements of current USAID-supported activities, the purpose of the activity is improved maternal, youth, and child health and survival in beneficiary communities and populations. This activity will improve the health of women, youth, and children in Manicaland by strengthening maternal, newborn, child health and family planning (integrated MNCH-FP) service delivery throughout the continuum of care, i.e., from the home, to the community, to the primary care facility, and to the tertiary referral hospital. Continuum of care refers to a concept involving a system that guides and tracks patients over time through a comprehensive array of health services spanning all levels and intensity of care. Integrated MNCH-FP service delivery refers to combining together MNCH and FP health services in order to expand access to care, increase efficiencies, and improve health outcomes. The activity will also increase access to a broader range of family planning methods through outreach services at the national level.
