The United States Agency for International Development (USAID) Uganda is seeking applications to fund one or more organizations through a five-year Cooperative Agreement to improve health, nutrition, education, and psychosocial wellbeing, and reduce abuse, exploitation and neglect among children and youth orphaned and made vulnerable by HIV (OVC) and other adversities in Uganda, and particularly in the Eastern and Northern Regions; as described in Section I of this RFA.

Purpose of Program: The purposes of this program are to (1) help address State-identified needs for personnel in special education, early intervention, related services, and regular education to work with children, including infants and toddlers, with disabilities; and (2) ensure that those personnel have the necessary skills and knowledge, derived from practices that have been determined through scientifically based research and experience, to be successful in serving those children.

The Department of Education is issuing a notice inviting applications for new awards for fiscal year (FY) 2018 for Personnel Development to Improve Services and Results for Children with Disabilities-Associate Degree Preservice Program Improvement Grants to Support Personnel Working with Young Children with Disabilities

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention's National Center for Injury Prevention and Control (NCIPC) is soliciting investigator-initiated research that will help expand and advance our understanding about what works to prevent violence that impacts children and youth, collectively referred to as Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs), including child abuse and neglect, teen dating violence, sexual violence, youth violence, and exposure to adult intimate partner violence. This initiative is intended to support the evaluation of primary prevention strategies, programs, or policies that target universal or selected high-risk populations (i.e., populations that have one or more risk factors that place them at heightened risk for perpetration of violence). Funds are available to conduct such studies focused on preventing child abuse and neglect and at least one other form of violence affecting children and youth, including teen dating violence, sexual violence, youth violence and exposure to adult intimate partner violence as detailed elsewhere in this announcement.

This program will fund project sites to develop a community-based, multidisciplinary, comprehensive approach to responding to youth with sexual behavior problems, their child victims, and their families as well as a training and technical assistance provider to support project sites in developing intervention models. The purpose of this program is to prevent sexual reoffending, promote healing, and provide services for victims and families. The program will focus on interfamilial and/or coresidential child victims and youth with problematic sexual behaviors. Examples of these types of sexual behaviors include, but are not limited to, sexual contact between children who do not know each other well (i.e., foster home or institutional setting); sexual contact between children of different ages, sizes, and developmental levels; aggressive or coerced sexual contact; sexual contact that causes harm to the child or others; and sexual contact that causes another child to be highly upset and/or fearful. Applicants should propose comprehensive, evidence-based intervention strategies for serving both the child victim(s) and the youth with sexual behavior problems and their parents/caregivers.

The Administration for Children and Families (ACF) announces the availability of $568,786 to be competitively awarded for the purpose of expanding access to high-quality, comprehensive services to low-income infants and toddlers and their families through Early Head Start-Child Care (EHS-CC) Partnerships, or through the expansion of Early Head Start services in Winnebago County, Illinois. ACF solicits applications from public entities, including states, or private non-profit organizations, including community-based or faith-based organizations, or for-profit agencies that meet eligibility for applying as stated in section 645A of the Head Start Act. This program is authorized by federal appropriations acts. The CYEM Program supports comprehensive, community-based efforts to develop or expand prevention, intervention, treatment, and response strategies to address the needs of children and youth impacted by sexual assault, domestic violence, dating violence, stalking, and sex trafficking. The CYEM Program also funds prevention efforts that engage men and boys as allies to combat violence against women and girls.

REISSUE of PAR-18-733 The NIH Common Fund has established the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Research Program (Kids First) to develop a pediatric research data resource populated by genome sequence and phenotype data that will be of high value for the communities of investigators who study the genetics of childhood cancers and/or structural birth defects. The overall goal of the Gabriella Miller Kids First Pediatric Data Resource is to help researchers understand the underlying mechanisms of these conditions, leading to more refined diagnostic capabilities and ultimately more targeted therapies, as well as to develop an integrated pediatric research data resource by obtaining and aggregating genome sequence and phenotype data for as many relevant structural birth defects and pediatric cancer cohorts as possible and to advance research in this area through the broad sharing of these data with the research community. This FOA is intended to promote meritorious small research projects focused on the development and analyses of childhood cancer and/or structural birth defects datasets that are part of the Kids First Data Resource or could be included in the Kids First Data Resource. Development of statistical methodology appropriate for analyzing genome-wide data relevant to childhood cancer and/or structural birth defects may also be proposed.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) seeks to develop and nurture a national innovation ecosystem that builds upon biomedical research to develop technologies, products and services that benefit society. Toward meeting this objective, the I- Corps program is being offered. The I-Corps at NIH program is focused on educating researchers and technologists on how to translate technologies from the lab into the marketplace. Under this FOA, participating NIH and CDC Institutes and Centers will provide administrative supplement awards to two cohorts of currently-funded SBIR and STTR Phase I grantees to support entrepreneurial training under the I-Corps at NIH Program. The program is designed to provide three-member project teams with access to instruction and mentoring in order to accelerate the translation of technologies currently being developed with NIH and CDC SBIR and STTR funding. It is anticipated that outcomes for the I-Corps teams participating in this program will include significantly refined commercialization plans and well-informed pivots in their overall commercialization strategies. The purpose of this FOA is to test a model of quality clinical care addressing childhood obesity for U.S. low-income children, especially those enrolled in or eligible for health care coverage under the Children’s Health Insurance Program (CHIP) or Medicaid. Specifically, the purpose of this FOA is to implement and test the ability of a model of clinical childhood obesity management along with a EHR-referral-based, family-centered pediatric weight management program, to reduce body mass index (BMI) in children with obesity, or overweight with risks (including, e.g., medical and behavioral risks, and family history).

NIJ intends to fund a sub-study involving several of the 21 NIDA-funded ABCD Study sites to include measures of delinquency and victimization in their investigations. The sub-study will address key questions on the interactions between substance use, brain development, delinquency, and victimization. Funding from this award will support a coordinating center to plan for and collect the first wave of data for the sub-study. NIJ intends to fund subsequent waves of data collection via supplements to this award in order to follow the children into young adulthood. NIJ anticipates making yearly supplemental awards under this solicitation for up to approximately 10 years depending on the duration of the main, NIDA-funded ABCD study.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to solicit applications for the NIAID Childhood Asthma in Urban Settings Clinical Research Network Leadership Center (CAUSE-LC). The CAUSE-LC will provide the overall scientific strategy and organizational structure to the CAUSE Clinical Research Network and will interact closely with the CAUSE Clinical Research Centers (CAUSE -CRCs) to support the conduct of multi-site clinical studies and trials with the ultmate goal of developing effective interventions or asthma prevention approaches applicable to children residing in low-income urban settings.

The Youth with Sexual Behavior Problems (YSBP) Program provides support to agencies that use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to provide intervention and supervision services for youth with sexual behavior problems and treatment services for their child victims and families. Award recipients will target services for youth with sexual behavior problems, their child victim(s), and parents/caregivers of the offending youth and child victims. Youth participating in this program must undergo a mental health evaluation to determine if they are amenable to community-based treatment and intervention. Youth targeted for program services should have no prior history of court involvement for sexual offenses. This program solicitation includes 2 categories. Category 1 (program sites) will provide funding to as many as three sites for the purposes described above. Category 2 (support, training, and technical assistance) will fund one awardee to provide support and technical assistance to the program sites selected under Category 1. The successful applicants under Category 1 will develop and implement a comprehensive program for the target population over a 24-month period. OJJDP expects program sites to work closely with the training and technical assistance provider and include their community partners in the collaborative learning process that the training and technical assistance provider will establish. The goals of Category 2 of this solicitation are to develop, design, and deliver training and technical assistance that supports and guides the program sites as they implement their community-based management strategies for youth with sexual behavior problems and their victims and families.

The AABC Foundation, was established in 1994 by American Association of Birth Centers to advance public knowledge and understanding of issues related to family-centered childbirth. The foundation raises funds to support the advancement of the AABC birth center model as the standard to improve maternity and women's health care. Based on wellness model of pregnancy and birth, the birth center is a homelike facility, operating with a healthcare system. Birth centers are guided by principles of prevention of complication, sensitivity to the needs of the individual family, safety for both mother and baby, appropriate use of medical intervention, and cost effective care. Birth centers provide family-centered care for healthy women before, during, and after normal pregnancy, labor, and birth. To advance its mission, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 to support research projects on issues related to the birth center model of care. The program is open to individuals or organizations and nonprofit status or sponsorship is not required. However, applicants must demonstrate capacity and a plan to complete the research in accordance with the project's timeline.

Through this announcement, the Administration for Children and Families solicits applications from public or private non-profit organizations, including community-based and faith-based organizations, or for-profit agencies that wish to compete for funds that are available to provide Early Head Start services to infants, toddlers, pregnant women, and their families residing in the City of Hobe Sound, Florida. Funds in the amount of $483,446 annually will be available to provide Early Head Start program services to eligible infants, toddlers, pregnant women, and their families. The purpose of the RRTCs, which are funded through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program, is to achieve the goals of, and improve the effectiveness of, services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act through well-designed research, training, technical assistance, and dissemination activities in important topical areas as specified by NIDILRR. These activities are designed to benefit rehabilitation service providers, individuals with disabilities, family members, policymakers and other research stakeholders. The purpose of this particular RRTC is to generate new research-based knowledge that can be used to improve outcomes in one or more of the following outcome domains for people with disabilities living in rural communities: community living and participation, employment, and health and function.

The purpose of the RRTCs, which are funded through the Disability and Rehabilitation Research Projects and Centers Program, is to achieve the goals of, and improve the effectiveness of, services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act through well-designed research, training, technical assistance, and dissemination activities in important topical areas as specified by NIDILRR. These activities are designed to benefit rehabilitation service providers, individuals with disabilities, family members, policymakers and other research stakeholders. The purpose of this particular RRTC is to conduct activities to advance the use and usefulness of disability statistics and demographic data to inform disability policies and practices toward providing full opportunities and accommodations for individuals with disabilities. This includes analyzing disability-relevant nationally representative data, improving survey methods related to people with disabilities of a wide variety, conducting knowledge translation of findings, and creating and implementing a web-based platform for improved public access to data.

The purpose of this FOA is to continue support for the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS) which addresses the clinical course of perinatally acquired HIV infection in adolescents and young adults and the oral and systemic health consequences of in utero and infant exposure to antiretroviral therapy in cohorts of children in the United States.
