Through this announcement, the Administration for Children and Families solicits applications from local public or private non-profit organizations, including community-based and faith-based organizations, or for-profit agencies within a community that wish to compete for funds that are available to provide Migrant and Seasonal Head Start services to children and families residing in the states of Ohio, Indiana, Iowa, Texas, Oklahoma, Nevada, Colorado and New Mexico. Funds in the amount of $64,910,486 annually will be available to provide Migrant and Seasonal Head Start program services to eligible children and their families. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to invite applications for multidisciplinary national conferences that will inform care and facilitate research for major issues in pediatric critical care medicine. Given the nascent stage of development, the small diverse patient populations, and the rapid expansion of the field, conducting research and establishing best practices in pediatric critical care is challenging. National conferences that convene experts from across the country hold the potential to establish the frameworks necessary to overcome these obstacles. It is anticipated that such conferences will foster collaboration among different clinical disciplines, geographically and culturally diverse institutions and medical centers, professional organizations and NIH Institutes. The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage practice-based research aimed at testing the effectiveness of developmentally-focused theory-based efficacious prevention interventions which may impact mental health outcomes, including suicide behaviors and serious mental illness. The research should test prevention approaches that are both scalable and sustainable for implementation in pediatric-serving primary care settings, with an emphasis on populations experiencing mental health disparities. This FOA seeks to supports clinical trials to establish the effectiveness of scalable prevention interventions when implemented using available resources within pediatric-serving primary care settings.

The Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), through the Fertility and Infertility (FI) Branch, provides funding for a limited number of research centers in the reproductive sciences.  These centers provide an arena for multidisciplinary interactions among basic and clinical scientists interested in establishing high quality translational research programs in this scientific area.  The centers also serve as national resources for the training and career development of young scientists electing to pursue biomedical research careers in reproduction and infertility.  Finally, center investigators develop and participate in community outreach and education efforts to increase awareness and convey the importance and implications of their research activities to the general public.  Accordingly, the purpose of this FOA is to announce the re-competition of the National Centers for Translational Research in Reproduction and Infertility (NCTRI).  The NCTRI will be administered through the Specialized Research Center (P50) award mechanism.  These centers will form a national network that facilitates and accelerates bidirectional knowledge transfer between the laboratory and clinic with the goal of improving human reproductive health through research excellence and innovation.

Emotional well-being has been defined as an overall positive state of one's emotions, life satisfaction, sense of meaning and purpose, and ability to pursue self-defined goals (Feller SC, Castillo EG, Greenberg JM, et al. Emotional well-being and public health: proposal for a model national initiative. Public Health Reports. 2018;133(2):136-141). Elements of emotional well-being include a sense of balance in emotion, thoughts, social relationships, and pursuits, or lack thereof. The relative importance of each construct will vary across subpopulations and developmental stages. Currently, fundamental consensus concerning the definition and components of emotional well-being, as well as what interventions promote emotional well-being, either as a mediator of health outcomes or as an end in itself, is lacking. In April 2018, the National Center for Complementary and Integrative Health (NCCIH) and the Office of Behavioral and Social Sciences Research (OBSSR), in collaboration with other NIH Institutes, Centers, and Offices (National Institute on Aging (NIA), Eunice Kennedy Shriver National Institute of Child Health and Human Development (NICHD), National Institute on Drug Abuse (NIDA), National Institute of Mental Health (NIMH)), sponsored a roundtable discussion with the following goals: (1) to gain a deeper insight into the existing research on the role of emotional well-being in health; (2) to create a trans-NIH research program focused on developing, testing, and implementing intervention strategies to promote emotional well-being.

The purpose of the RERC program is to improve the effectiveness of services authorized under the Rehabilitation Act by conducting advanced engineering research on and development of innovative technologies that are designed to solve particular rehabilitation problems or to remove environmental barriers. RERCs also demonstrate and evaluate such technologies, facilitate service delivery system changes, stimulate the production and distribution of new technologies and equipment in the private sector, and provide training opportunities. Field-Initiated RERC on Technology to Enhance Independence and Community Living for People with Cognitive Impairments: In this area, NIDILRR seeks to fund research and development toward technologies that contribute to improved abilities of adults with cognitive impairment to perform daily activities of their choice in the home, community, or workplace.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NIDA/NIMH R25 program is to support educational activities that complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nations biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs in the use of ABCD data. To accomplish the stated over-arching goal, this FOA will support creative educational activities with a primary focus on courses for skills development, particularly short-term workshops that will allow participants to explore the hands-on use of ABCD data, through cooperative or competitive approaches.

According to the foundation, a strong, responsive caregiver-child relationship and the infant brain development that results from that relationship maximize a child's physical development, communication, and social skills and strengthen his/her ability to mitigate the long-term effects of stressful life events and circumstances. The opioid epidemic has disrupted public safety and significantly increased the burden on state and local law enforcement, substance abuse treatment delivery systems, mental health systems, child welfare and foster care, and the juvenile justice and criminal justice systems. Through this program, OJJDP is helping states and communities develop a data-driven, coordinated response to opioid abuse-related challenges that impact youth and community safety. Funding under this program may be used to support programs and services to youth and families impacted by both opioids and other substance use disorders.

The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement is to support (1) research to test the efficacy or effectiveness of interventions to prevent initiation and/or escalation of ENDS (electronic nicotine delivery system) use among adolescents; and(2 )research on the impact of tobacco control policies, including ENDS-specific policies, on adolescent ENDS use behavior. Of priority is research that is theoretically based and identifies specific risk and protective factors to target through prevention intervention, or research on policies that can impact adolescent ENDS use. Particularly, for prevention intervention research (e.g., school, community, and clinic-based), collaboration with stakeholders and likely program adopters is required to ensure feasibility for implementation, scalability, dissemination and sustainability. For this funding announcement, individuals as young as 12 and as old as 18 encompass the core target age range. Justification for the specific age or age range of the target population is required, including studies that propose targeting youth outside the core age range.

The purpose of this Notice of Special Interest (NOSI) is to encourage research focused on Black child and adolescent suicide. Recent data suggest that Black youth, especially those under age 13, appear to be at higher than average risk for suicide and suicide-related behaviors.

The JAMS Foundation/ACR Initiative for Students and Youth provides grant funding for conflict prevention and dispute resolution programs for K-12 students and for adults working with youth populations in ways that directly transfer CRE skills from adults to youth. Each year, the Association for Conflict Resolution (ACR) and the JAMS Foundation identify specific subject areas seeking to address otherwise unresolved issues and unmet needs of both general and target youth populations, based on current research and feedback from leaders and stakeholders in the dispute resolution and education fields. Funding contexts for selected subject areas will vary, and may include community-based organizations, alternative education settings (online education, charter schools), after-school programs, court- or juvenile justice-connected programs, as well as programs operating in traditional K-12 school districts.

The purpose of this program is to more effectively respond to the needs of children, youth, and young adults with serious emotional disturbances (SED) and their families by providing information, referrals, and support; and to create a mechanism for families to participate in state and local mental health services planning and policy development. This population of focus will hereafter be referred to as children and youth. The Linguistics Program supports basic science in the domain of human language, encompassing investigations of the grammatical properties of individual human languages, and of natural language in general. Research areas include syntax, semantics, morphology, phonetics, and phonology. The program encourages projects that are interdisciplinary in methodological or theoretical perspective, and that address questions that cross disciplinary boundaries, such as (but not limited to): What are the psychological processes involved in the production, perception, and comprehension of language? What are the computational properties of language and/or the language processor that make fluent production, incremental comprehension or rapid learning possible? How do the acoustic and physiological properties of speech inform our theories of language and/or language processing? What role does human neurobiology play in shaping the various components of our linguistic capacities? How does language develop in children? What social and cultural factors underlie language variation and change?
