    The American Psychological Foundation is accepting applications from early-career psychologists conducting research in the area of early intervention for and treatment of serious emotional disturbance in children. Through its John and Polly Sparks Early Career grant program, the foundation will award a single grant of $18,000 to an early-career psychologist in support of scientifically based research and programs that could provide models for broad-based applications across the country. The grant is meant to encourage the researcher to devote his/her career to methods of intervention for and treatment of serious emotional disturbance in children. Although APF does not consider institutional indirect costs or overhead costs, the recipiens may use the grant to cover the direct administrative costs of their proposed project. To be eligible, applicants must be a psychologist with an EdD, PsyD, or PhD from an accredited university and be no more than seven years postdoctoral.

    The Organization for Autism Research is inviting applications for its Graduate Research Grant program. Established in 2004, the grant program is intended to encourage and support students conducting research pursuant to graduate and post-graduate studies in disciplines related to assessment, intervention, and support of learners with autism spectrum disorders and their families. Grants of up to $2,000 will be awarded for projects related to the analysis, evaluation, or comparison of assessment models, treatment models, or service systems; applied aspects of early and/or school-based education, behavioral, or communication intervention; adult issues such as containing education, employment, housing models and later intervention; and/or issues related to family support, social and community integration, and assessment and intervention with challenging behavior. Priority will be given to studies that will likely produce practical and clearly objective results that may aid parents, families, professionals, and people with autism to make more fully informed choices that will lead to healthier and happier lives. International students are eligible to apply.

    The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research and Evaluation (OPRE), will solicit applications for Family Strengthening Research Scholars grants to support dissertation research on healthy marriage/responsible fatherhood policy issues. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to focus on questions that have direct implications for healthy marriage/responsible fatherhood policy decision-making and program administration, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. Family Violence Prevention and Services Discretionary Grants: Capacity Building and Program Technical Assistance for Family Violence Prevention and Services Act Formula Grantees - 0 views

    The Family Violence Prevention and Services Act (FVPSA) Discretionary Grant Program seeks one grantee to enhance and expand the capacity of FVPSA formula grantees - state FVPSA administrators and state/territory domestic violence coalitions. For this grant program, one grantee will be expected to provide 1) topic-specific training and technical assistance at a national level and 2) intensive training and technical assistance at the state or territory level. The national training and technical assistance topics, and the identified formula grantee recipients of the intensive technical assistance, will be identified through: formula grantee needs assessments; program monitoring by FVPSA staff; and the selected grantee's internal processes for identifying needed topics and selected grantees. The training and technical assistance will focus on programmatic and administrative functions to build the capacity of FVPSA formula grantees, such as dissemination of FVPSA regulations and guidance, understanding roles and responsibilities of programmatic monitoring of local programs, incorporation of best practices, building the management capacity of organizations, and building partnerships within the state or territory which includes culturally-specific organizations and tribes. The grantee will participate in ongoing coordination and collaboration with the FVPSA-funded resource centers, collectively known as the Domestic Violence Resource Network (DVRN).

    The mission of the Simons Foundation Autism Research Initiative is to improve the diagnosis and treatment of autism spectrum disorders by funding, catalyzing, and driving research of the greatest quality. The program is seeking applications for SFARI awards from individuals who will conduct bold, imaginative, rigorous, and relevant research. Applications are invited for two categories of grants, including SFARI Pilot Awards and SFARI Pilot Awards. 1) SFARI Pilot Awards: These grants are intended for innovative, high-impact proposals requesting support for small-scale projects or early-stage experiments that will build on preliminary data or a prior track record and lead to competitive applications for funding by SFARI or other organizations. Investigators new to the field of autism are encouraged to apply. The maximum budget is $330,000 (including indirect costs) over two years. 2) SFARI Research Awards: grants awarded through this category are designed for investigators with demonstrated expertise conducting compelling high-impact research on an experimental hypothesis for which, in most cases, preliminary data have already been gathered. The foundation also will consider projects focused on a central hypothesis where success depends on close collaboration between two or more labs. The initiative expects to fund proposals for a maximum of $975,000 over to three years. All applicants and key collaborators must hold a Ph.D., M.D., or equivalent degree and have a faculty position or equivalent at a college, university, medical school, or other research facility.

    The purpose of this funding opportunity announcement (FOA) is to promote initial establishment of basic science-clinical collaborations by providing small grants to teams of basic scientists, physician scientists, and/or clinicians. These interdisciplinary teams may include but are not limited to the following: developmental biologists, cell biologists, geneticists, genomicists, physician scientists including individuals with DVM/VMD degrees, clinicians, epidemiologists, biostatisticians, and/or bioinformaticists. Applications must include at least one scientist with expertise from the basic science side of the spectrum as well as one from the clinical side. The multiple PD/PI model is strongly encouraged but not required. The goal is to facilitate the gathering of preliminary data to support future, larger research grant applications that will combine expertise and integrate basic, translational, and/or clinical approaches to understanding the developmental biology, genetics, and/or environmental basis of structural birth defects.

    In recent years, inequality in the United States has become increasingly pervasive. At the same time, prospects for social mobility have decreased. The William T. Grant Foundation believes the research community can play a critical role in reversing this trend. To that end, the foundation is accepting applications in support of research projects designed to advance understanding in the area of inequalities in youth development and/or increase understanding of how research is acquired, understood, and used, as well as the circumstances that shape its use in decision making.
