The AACR-Minorities in Cancer Research Jane Cooke Wright Lectureship was first presented in 2006. The Lectureship is intended to give recognition to an outstanding scientist who has made meritorious contributions to the field of cancer research and who has, through leadership or by example, furthered the advancement of minority investigators in cancer research.

This lectureship will recognize an individual scientist whose novel and significant work has had or may have a far-reaching impact on the detection, diagnosis, treatment, or prevention of cancer, and who embodies the dedication of the Princess to multinational collaborations. The recipient of the Eight Annual lectureship will present a major, 50-minute lecture during the AACR Annual Meeting 2014 in San Diego, CA, USA (April 5-9, 2014). The lecturer will receive an unrestricted cash award of US $10,000, support for the winner and a guest to attend the AACR Annual Meeting, and a commemorative item serving as tangible witness to the singular honor of his/her selection.

The AACR-Women in Cancer Research Charlotte Friend Memorial Lectureship was established in 1998 in honor of renowned virologist and discoverer of the Friend virus, Dr. Charlotte Friend, for her pioneering research on viruses, cell differentiation and cancer. The lecture is intended to give recognition to an outstanding female or male scientist who has made meritorious contributions to the field of cancer research and who has, through leadership or by example, furthered the advancement of women in science.

Award: A $2,000.00 award, a plaque, and travel reimbursement to attend the Opening Ceremonies at ONS Congress. The paper will be published in the Clinical Journal of Oncology Nursing. Purpose: This award was established to focus attention of the membership on quality-of-life issues in cancer care; describe the contributions of clinicians, educators, administrators, and researchers in oncology nursing to quality of life in cancer care; apply information related to quality of life to oncology nursing practice; and incorporate the philosophy of quality of life into all aspects of cancer care. The lecture is presented at the ONS Annual Congress.

The Lila and Murray Gruber Memorial Cancer Research Award is one of the largest and most prestigious medical awards. The cash award of $10,000 will be made in recognition of the investigator's lifetime achievements in the field of cancer research. The award has been made possible by a gift from Murray Gruber in memory of his wife. Its purpose is to encourage participation in cancer research and to provide a forum for the enrichment of knowledge of dermatologists in this important scientific field. At the discretion of the task force, the award may be divided between two worthy nominees.
