The HEALing Communities Study will test the immediate impact of implementing an integrated set of evidence-based interventions across healthcare, behavioral health, justice, and other community-based settings to prevent and treat opioid misuse and Opioid Use Disorders (OUD) within highly affected communities. Highly affected communities of interest could include counties or cities within states that are burdened with higher than average rates of overdose mortality and opioid-related morbidity, and other complications.  Combined, all the communities participating in a single research site application must demonstrate having experienced at least 150 opioid related overdose fatalities (15% of these fatalities must be from rural communities) and a rate of 25 opioid related overdose fatalities per 100,000 persons or higher in the past year, based on the most recent complete year of data available.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research educational activities that complement other formal training programs in the mission areas of the NIH Institutes and Centers. The over-arching goals of the NIH R25 program are to: (1) complement and/or enhance the training of a workforce to meet the nation's biomedical, behavioral and clinical research needs; (2) encourage individuals from diverse backgrounds, including those from groups underrepresented in the biomedical and behavioral sciences, to pursue further studies or careers in research; (3) help recruit individuals with specific specialty or disciplinary backgrounds to research careers in biomedical, behavioral and clinical sciences; and (4) foster a better understanding of biomedical, behavioral and clinical research and its implications.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The goal of this FIC R25 program is to support educational activities that foster a better understanding of biomedical, behavioral and clinical research and its implications, by strengthening research ethics capacity in low- and middle-income countries (LMICs) through increasing the number of LMIC research intensive institutions that can provide advanced education in research ethics.

This FOA, issued by the Office of Medical Policy (OMP), Center for Drug Evaluation and Research, Food and Drug Administration, solicits grant applications from neutral, independent institutions and/or organizations to support meetings (e.g., conferences, workgroups, roundtables) that convene a broad range of multiple stakeholders, including those with relevant expertise, to explore and address issues related to medical products, policy, and surveillance methods and systems. Support includes but is not limited to preliminary research of identified topics, the design, planning, execution, synthesis, summary, and communication of findings from these forums to a broad range of organizations and individuals.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to advance select areas of research recognized as critical in the National Action Plan for Combating Antibiotic-Resistant Bacteria (CARB), including research focused on understanding the nature of microbial communities, how antibiotics affect them, and how they can be harnessed to prevent disease, as well as research exploring combination therapies to address the emergence of resistance.

The aim of the CDA is to support the next generation of researchers and to significantly improve outcomes and quality of life for breast cancer patients. The award will provide up to $100,000 per year for two years to be combined with matching funds or in kind contribution from the applicant's institution. Neither ASTRO nor BCRF will pay indirect costs as part of this award. One award will be funded. Research must be focused on understanding or treatment of breast cancer and include use or impact of radiation treatment.

The aim of the CDA is to support the next generation of researchers and to significantly improve outcomes and quality of life for prostate cancer patients. The award will provide up to $75,000 per year for three years to be combined with matching funds or in kind contribution from the applicant's institution. Neither ASTRO nor PCF will pay indirect costs as part of this award. One award will be funded. Research must be focused on understanding or treatment of prostate cancer and include use or impact of radiation treatment.

Proposals are solicited by NASA in the area of Space Radiobiology Tissue Sharing: Research Proposing the Use of Archived Tissue Samples or Samples from Ongoing Experiments.

This Request for Information (RFI) is to inform interested parties of another tuberculosis (TB) activity that is being designed to help the Philippines reduce and eliminate TB. The intent is to also seek statements from capable organizations (i.e., nongovernmental organizations, universities, consortium, for-profit) that are implementing or have implemented TB projects/programs and may be interested to partner with USAID in achieving the goals of this future TB activity. The NIOSH Disaster Science Responder Research (DSRR) Program, within Emergency Preparedness and Response Office (EPRO), anticipates that the knowledge resulting from the award made under this announcement will contribute significantly to the evidence base for preparedness, response, and research, and lead to improved operational planning efforts and capabilities for the collection of rapid and reliable occupational exposure via multiple routes (e.g., inhalation, dermal, ingestion, etc.) information for first responders. This Broad Agency Announcement (BAA) under the provisions of FAR 35.016 and FAR 6.102(d)(2) which provides for the competitive selection of research proposals.

This Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) seeks applications for implementation research in the delivery of proven effective interventions for co-occurring heart, lung, blood, and sleep (HLBS) diseases and conditions among people living with HIV/AIDS.  Proven effective interventions and management guidelines exist for co-morbid HLBS diseases and disorders for people living with HIV. However, these interventions have not been fully implemented among people living with HIV/AIDS and gaps in care remain. The intent of this FOA is to stimulate the use of late-stage T4 translation research and implementation science strategies to address barriers that impede the scale-up and application of proven effective interventions in community and clinical settings for the prevention, control, and treatment of co-morbid HLBS conditions for people living with HIV.

The intent of the FY17 ERP IDA is to solicit research to understand the magnitude and underlying mechanisms of PTE. The FY17 ERP IDA offers two levels of funding. Funding Level I is intended to support high-risk or high-gain research from Principal Investigators (PIs) at or above the level of a postdoctoral fellow (or equivalent), but below the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent). Note that PIs submitting Funding Level I applications will be required to verify their eligibility for this award. Funding Level II is intended to support a more mature, hypothesis-driven research project. To be considered for an FY17 ERP IDA Funding Level II, the PI must be an independent investigator at or above the level of Assistant Professor (or equivalent). While not required, applications to either Funding Level I or II should provide relevant preliminary data. Preliminary data for either Funding Level may come from the PI's published work, pilot data, or from peer-reviewed literature. The requested budget level should be appropriate for the scope of research proposed.For Funding Level I:The anticipated direct costs budgeted for the entire period of performance for an FY17 ERP IDA award will not exceed $300,000. The maximum period of performance is 2 years. For Funding Level II:The anticipated direct costs budgeted for the entire period of performance for an FY17 ERP IDA award will not exceed $500,000. The maximum period of performance is 3 years. FY17 ERP IDA Focus Areas: The research impact for the FY17 ERP IDA is expected to benefit the military, Veteran, and civilian communities.

The overarching goals of this program are to (i) prepare, nurture, and grow the national scientific research workforce for creating, utilizing, and supporting advanced cyberinfrastructure (CI) that enables potentially transformative fundamental science and engineering research and contributes to the Nation's overall economic competiveness and security; (ii) ensure broad adoption of CI tools, methods, and resources by the fundamental science and engineering research community to enable new modes of discovery; and (iii) integrate core literacy and discipline-appropriate advanced skills in advanced CI as well as computational and data science and engineering into the Nation's educational curriculum/instructional material fabric spanning undergraduate and graduate courses. For the purpose of this solicitation, advanced CI is broadly defined as the set of resources, tools, and services for advanced computation, data handling, networking, and security that collectively enable potentially transformative fundamental research.

This FOA provides resources to support (a) pilot or feasibility studies of new or adapted interventions to prevent HIV infection among populations where substance use may be a contributing factor; (b) pilot or feasibility studies of new or adapted interventions to improve the care of HIV infection among populations where substance use is prevalent, including interventions that integrate treatment for substance use disorders and HIV infection; or (c) pilot or feasibility studies to increase the scale, uptake, delivery, and/or quality of HIV prevention or care interventions with established evidence of efficacy

The purpose of the Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to encourage research into the role of pluripotent progenitor/stem cells in the pathogenesis and treatment of selected gynecologic disorders, specifically uterine fibroids, endometriosis, adenomyosis, endometrial polyps, and pelvic organ prolapse.

There is a devastating opioid use and overdose crisis in the United States. It has been reported that approximately 25.5 million adults suffer pain and opioids that are often prescribed for their treatment can lead to opioid misuse and dependence. It has also been reported that more than 2 million Americans have OUDs and many started their addiction with prescribed opioids. One of the most devastating consequences of opioid misuse is opioid overdose, which can produce respiratory depression and death. Drug overdose is the leading cause of accidental death in the US, with an estimation of 60,000 deaths in 2016; 20,101 overdose deaths related to prescription pain relievers, and 12,990 overdose deaths related to heroin.

The purpose of this FOA is to continue support for the Pediatric HIV/AIDS Cohort Study (PHACS) which addresses the clinical course of perinatally acquired HIV infection in adolescents and young adults and the oral and systemic health consequences of in utero and infant exposure to antiretroviral therapy in cohorts of children in the United States.

The Prevent Blindness Ohio Young Investigator Student Fellowship Awards for Female Scholars in Vision Research provides training support for future generations of outstanding female scientists committed to pursuing biomedical, behavioral or clinical research careers relevant to the mission of Prevent Blindness Ohio - to prevent blindness and preserve sight.  The fellowship awards provide partial support to younger investigators, promoting the development of scientific skills that will lead to more substantial funding from other sources.
