The Administration for Children and Families (ACF), Office of Planning, Research, and Evaluation (OPRE) is soliciting applications for Behavioral Interventions Scholars grants to support dissertation research by advanced graduate students who are using behavioral science approaches to examine specific research questions of relevance to social service programs and policies. These grants are meant to build capacity in the research field to apply a behavioral lens to issues facing poor and vulnerable families in the United States, and to foster mentoring relationships between faculty members and high-quality doctoral students. Applicants are required to demonstrate the applicability of their research to practice or policy serving low-income children, adults, and families, especially those that seek to improve their well-being.

The Youth with Sexual Behavior Problems (YSBP) Program provides support to agencies that use a comprehensive, multidisciplinary approach to provide intervention and supervision services for youth with sexual behavior problems and treatment services for their child victims and families. Award recipients will target services for youth with sexual behavior problems, their child victim(s), and parents/caregivers of the offending youth and child victims. Youth participating in this program must undergo a mental health evaluation to determine if they are amenable to community-based treatment and intervention. Youth targeted for program services should have no prior history of court involvement for sexual offenses. This program solicitation includes 2 categories. Category 1 (program sites) will provide funding to as many as three sites for the purposes described above. Category 2 (support, training, and technical assistance) will fund one awardee to provide support and technical assistance to the program sites selected under Category 1. The successful applicants under Category 1 will develop and implement a comprehensive program for the target population over a 24-month period. OJJDP expects program sites to work closely with the training and technical assistance provider and include their community partners in the collaborative learning process that the training and technical assistance provider will establish. The goals of Category 2 of this solicitation are to develop, design, and deliver training and technical assistance that supports and guides the program sites as they implement their community-based management strategies for youth with sexual behavior problems and their victims and families.

he purpose of this FOA is to solicit applications to examine the impact of behavioral interventions within the context of states plans for use of the SAMHSA Opioid STR grant funds authorized under the 21st Century Cures Act. Applications are encouraged for studies that examine the impact of interventions such as mindfulness meditation, cognitive behavioral therapy, or multi-disciplinary rehabilitation for primary or secondary prevention for opioid use disorder (OUD) or as an adjunct to medication assisted treatment (MAT) of OUD. Applications that emphasize treatment of the comorbidity of OUD and chronic pain are of particular interest.

The overall purpose of the NIAAA Alcohol Research Center program is to provide leadership in conducting and fostering interdisciplinary, collaborative research on a wide variety of topics relevant to the Institutes mission. These topics include, but are not limited to: the nature, etiology, genetics, diagnosis, treatment, and prevention of alcohol use disorders and their biomedical, psychosocial, and economic consequences across the lifespan. Centers also are regional or national resources that contribute to the development of new research methods, technologies and approaches that sustain innovative goal-directed research.

The NIH Research Education Program (R25) supports research education activities in the mission areas of the NIH. The over-arching goal of this NIA R25 program is to support educational activities that enhance the diversity of the biomedical, behavioral and clinical research workforce in aging.

Supports research on perception, action and cognition. Emphasis is on research strongly grounded in theory. Central research topics for consideration by the Perception, Action, and Cognition panel include vision, audition, haptics, attention, memory, reasoning, written and spoken discourse, and motor control. The program encompasses a wide range of theoretical perspectives, such as symbolic computation, connectionism, ecological, nonlinear dynamics, and complex systems, and a variety of methodologies including both experimental studies and modeling.

Founded in 2009, the Autism Science Foundation's mission is to support autism research by providing funding and other assistance to scientists and organizations conducting, facilitating, publicizing, and/or disseminating autism research. The foundation also provides information about autism to the general public and works to increase awareness of autism spectrum disorders and the needs of individuals and families affected by autism. As part of this mission, ASF is inviting applications for its Research Accelerator Grants program. These grants are designed to expand the scope, speed the progress, increase the efficiency, and/or improve final product dissemination of active autism research grants. Through the program, the foundation will award grants of up to $5,000 to enhance, expand, and enrich grants currently funded by other sources (including ASF). Staff salary may be covered by the award, but no portion of the funds can be applied to indirect university costs. All projects must have prior IRB approval.

The Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA), Center for Mental Health Services (CMHS), is accepting applications for fiscal year (FY) 2017 Cooperative Agreements to Implement Zero Suicide in Health Systems (Short Title: Zero Suicide). The Zero Suicide model is a comprehensive, multi-setting approach to suicide prevention in health systems. The purpose of this program is to implement suicide prevention and intervention programs, for individuals who are 25 years of age or older, that are designed to raise awareness of suicide, establish referral processes, and improve care and outcomes for such individuals who are at risk for suicide.

The purpose of the notice is to inform all NIAAA grant applicants of the revised Data and Safety Monitoring Plan (DSMP) requirements for all extramural NIAAA-funded clinical trials. The NIH defines a clinical trial as a research study in which one or more human subjects are prospectively assigned to one or more interventions (which may include placebo or other control) to evaluate the effects of those interventions on health-related biomedical or behavioral outcomes (https://grants.nih.gov/grants/glossary.htm#ClinicalTrial.) The revised DSMP guidelines provide better alignment with local Institutional Review Board (IRB) requirements and provide NIAAA with enhanced oversight of NIAAA-funded clinical trials.

The purpose of this Funding Opportunity Announcement (FOA) is to support an ancillary study grant application(s) to add psychological, behavioral, and/or neurocognitive assessments to the data collection in adults (> 18 years of age) enrolled at the clinical sites in the Molecular Transducers of Physical Activity in Humans Consortium (MoTrPAC) supported by the NIH Common Fund. This ancillary study FOA complements the parent MoTrPAC study by supporting research to elucidate the individual level psychological, behavioral, and neurocognitive characteristics that explain variation in individual response and adherence to a program of physical activity. The ultimate goal of the research supported by this FOA is to characterize individual differences in response to exercise over the course of the MoTrPAC protocol in order to identify novel treatment targets and inform personalized physical activity intervention approaches in the future.

This funding opportunity announcement (FOA) seeks to leverage data from existing basic, clinical, and intervention research on suicide risk and behaviors as well as social media and healthcare records data, by encouraging the integration of existing data sets for novel secondary analyses aimed at identifying potential biological, experiential, and other predictors and moderators of suicide risk. The use of dimensional variables and inclusion of multiple levels of analyses is particularly encouraged. A secondary goal of this FOA is to support innovative projects that will generate foundational work for research studies on suicide-related behaviors that inform a Research Domain Criteria (RDoC) approach in this area.

The complexities of brain and behavior pose fundamental questions in many areas of science and engineering, drawing intense interest across a broad spectrum of disciplinary perspectives while eluding explanation by any one of them. Rapid advances within and across disciplines are leading to an increasingly interconnected fabric of theories, models, empirical methods and findings, and educational approaches, opening new opportunities to understand complex aspects of neural and cognitive systems through integrative multidisciplinary approaches. This program calls for innovative, integrative, boundary-crossing proposals that can best capture those opportunities.
