Research on Women Physician Burnout - 0 views

  •
As we see the demands for medical care increase, especially with a population of aging baby boomers who are living longer with more chronic and complex conditions, we can anticipate a significant shortage of both primary care and specialist physicians.  There are many contributory reasons to this situation, but one of the most important root causes is physician burnout.  It has been well documented that burnout can shorten the careers, effectiveness, and health of physicians and has major impact on outcomes, safety, costs, and access to care for patients and, ultimately, is a tremendous drain on our country.

Small Awards in Behavioral Economics | RSF - 0 views

  •
The Russell Sage Foundation offers small awards to support high quality research in behavioral economics and to encourage young investigators (Ph.D. students and recent graduates) to enter this developing field. There are no limitations on the disciplinary background of the principal investigator, and the proposed research may address any topic in behavioral economics. However, projects must contribute to the Foundation's mission to improve the social and living conditions in the U.S. Appropriate projects will demonstrate explicit use of psychological concepts in the motivation of the research design and the preparation of the results. Experimental projects which do not have substantial behavioral content (such as market experiments testing neoclassical ideas) or substantial economic content (such as psychology experiments with no economic choices or strategic or market implications) will not be funded.

Major target areas for research include new diagnostic tools that might be more rapid, more specific, more sensitive, or less invasive; treatment regimens that are novel, less stressful or painful, more targeted, have fewer side effects, and/or provide optimal dosing; symptom relief; preventative measures; assessment of deficiencies or excesses (vitamins, minerals, drugs, etc.); and risk assessment tools or measures for environmental hazards, trauma, etc. The foundation is interested in supporting projects that will result in "new" information, treatments, or tools that result in a change in practice; it rarely funds projects that are focused on sharing current information with parents or caregivers.
