This is from the Oakland Schools Nov 2012 Information Center Newsletter, by Judy Hauser: CultureGrams Do you know that you have free access to CultureGrams? All Michigan citizens have access to commercial resources and databases provided through MeL - the Michigan Electronic Library - via the Library of Michigan. CultureGrams from ProQuest is a resource that schools have used for years in all grades starting in upper elementary. And now… it is available to all educators, students and parents via MeL. To access CultureGrams go to: http://mel.org and click on "MeL Databases." Scroll down and click on "CultureGrams." At the top of the page and in the large boxes on the page you will see World Edition, 2 States Edition, Kid's Edition and Provinces Edition. If, for example, you click on the States Edition and click on any state on the map you have many choices for information.Everything from current information to history to recipes is included. This is a great resource for students to use when researching a state, province, country or culture.

Includes a database called "CultureGrams". This includes information about countries all over the world. Interviews with citizens of the country (some are children) tell more about aspects of daily life, including food and school.
