Reading the Half-Inch Revolution I couldn't help think of the vietnam war and how this was broadcast for a whole nation to view and watch as regular programming. The broadcasted images and videos resulted in the rebellion of american citizens to appose the war and the opposite by rallying for the war. Specifically the idea of the collective conscious stuck in my mind. "Videotape captures a real-time experience of an event and enables participants to immediately re-experience the event through playback... "(1) This then lead me to an article about the collective conscious and how a nation can be influenced by such unity from viewing images and what may stem from it. "It may be more useful to think of collective consciousness as an emergent property of a massively parallel, multidimensional system. We may imagine that this system includes multiple interconnected minds. These minds perceive, decide, and influence issues of peace and war on very different grounds in very different ways..Each war activates old images-land mines in the minds. Each war also creates new images waiting to be activated in new wars at some future time."(42)
