The landscapes of other planets have long been the source of fantasies and speculation, but in the last few decades we've finally been able to get a close-up view of the surfaces of alien worlds. NASA's Mars Reconnaissance Orbiter (MRO) has been orbiting Mars since 2006, and on board is the High Resolution Imaging Science Experiment camera, or HiRISE.

We are a group of MIT students seeking to share the artistic aspects of science with others. On Sept. 2, 2009, we launched a digital camera into near-space to take photographs of the earth from high up above. All on a 150 USD budget.

RepRap http://reprap.org open source 3D printer at Metalab http://metalab.at Deviant Ollam visited the Lab and he immediately had an idea what to print with the reprap: A cover to block the flash for his camera. He video documented this and made this nice little video. It's cool when people get creative around reprap.
