The Teacher's Hub » School Shape Search - Part One - 0 views

  •
This week we are currently looking at shapes - both 2D shapes and 3D objects. As part of a "let's apply this to our life" moment, we decided to break the kids into small groups of two or three. We then put a digital camera in their hand and told them that they were to traverse the school and take 10 photos of shapes that they saw in our environment. Kids loved it.

"This application takes the idea of those word magnets that are for refrigerators and makes them interactive in your classroom. When I showed this application to some colleagues they were excited about the potential it could provide for class learning and one on one lessons. I'll continue this post as steps in using Word Magnets."

The Teacher's Hub » Five Card Flickr - 0 views

  •
"The premise is simple - five random images are shown on a screen. The idea is that the reader then becomes the writer. Taking the images shown, students then write, trying to link and weave a story through the five images."
  •

"You can say that kids are sufficiently net savvy these days. With a bit of parental help, they can easily grasp the basics of search. The commonplace search engines cater to kids as well as to adults. But even with the moderation search engines use, some content may not be suitable for impressionable minds."
