"In 1996, the Parallel World label released the LP "Cambodian Rocks", a collection of Cambodian psych and garage music from the 60s and early 70s (probably), compiled by an American tourist named Paul Wheeler from some cassettes he bought in Phnom Penh. No information on the songs was provided at all, no artist names, no song titles, and no recording dates. Four years later, Parallel World reissued this compilation on CD with a few extra tracks, but still without any identifying information. Unfortunately, it is more than likely that many of the featured musicians, showing a definite Western influence in their music, were murdered by the Khmer Rouge regime which took over power in 1975. Certainly none of them ever received any money from the sales of this compilation. However, the music is wonderful, and here it is for your enjoyment."

Our users can log their ski trip, hiking trip or sightseeing trip, upload it to Breadcrumbs with their photos and videos, and send it to all their friends, who can relive the adventure in 3D. And this is only the start, as we plan to provide our users with a platform to not only edit and maintain tracks, but also to find new places to explore and interact within a social network. a bit better than a postcard i guess.

Gapminder - Looking and Playing with Data I found Gapminder through Edutecher.net. This is simply a great way to look at and play with data dealing with global trends and topics. Health, education, climate and poverty are but some of the few areas of research that have been collected and compiled into these interactive graphs. When you launch Gapminder World, you will be able to select values and indicators charted on the graph axes as well as identify and track specific countries. Basically - it is just too hard to describe the power of this online tool. Any teacher that deals or refers to current and historical events and trends will definitely find Gapminder to be compelling tool!

Looks an amazing site for viewing data in very different ways.

I am sure this can be useful for a unit looking at habitats/ global changes.... and the impact on the environment/living things.... also just kind of fun :)

Could this be one way for students to track their research/reference sites during a UOI?

Whether we like it or not, Google or Wikipedia are our student's first ports of call when it comes to researching or undertaking independent study, not the school library. Diigo offers a fantastic way to tap into the way our students operate by allowing the annotation of web pages which can then be shared with your students and, by doing so, you facilitate the process of research for your students and you set them on the right track for further independent study.
