This articles discuss about the possible health risk of nanotechnology.
on one hand, the use of nanoparticles may be promising for diseases like cancer and viral infection, it may help to increase the effectiveness of medicine and gene enhancement. However, it may also cause lung cancer. When you read up more about nanotechnology, you will realize that it not only threatens the health of the workers and consumers, it also poses a threat to our environment.
Looking at the ethical issue behind the development and use of nanotechnology, it reminds me of the last week debate on designer babies. i feel that there is a dilemma over here. the benefits of developing and using nanotechnology are attractive. nevertheless, these benefits come with a price. it is really tough to make a decision on which is therefore more ethical. it is ethical for us to develop nanotechnology at the cost of others??
hmmm...i think that it may not be totally ethical to do so, but i feel that it will be unethical if we choose to ignore the potential benefits that it may bring to the future generation and stop the research and development of the nanotechnology. i strongly believe that we should do something for the next generation as we would not want our next generation to suffer.
i guess the key to nanotechnology is to be as RESPONSIBLE as possible.
