The island of Vieques is plagued with chemical and toxic residue of the US Navy. The US denies even that it is the cause of extremely large percentage increases in the amount of cancer and other medical problems plaguing Vieques residents. US government even goes so far to say that it is not their fault that there are toxins in Vieques even though from 1941 until 2003 the US Navy operated a base there, conducting bombing runs and testing chemical weapons to use in foreign wars. It is a sad day indeed when the government is accused with manipulating medical records to cover their tracks. It's as if the government doesn't care for the health and future of its citizens, even though they are not granted all the rights that a person born in North America would have.
