Find MAC Address Identifies Mystery Devices on Your Network - PCWorld - 0 views

  • Find MAC Address Identifies Mystery Devices on Your Network
  • Every network adapter has what is called a Media Access Control address
  • imply tell the program the range of IP addresses on your network, click a button, and it looks at every address, ferreting out the MAC address for any device using that IP address.

A breakthrough on paper that's stronger than steel - 0 views

  • paper that's stronger than steel
  • University of Technology, Sydney scientists have reported remarkable results in developing a composite material based on graphite that is a thin as paper and ten times stronger than steel.
  • Graphene paper (GP) is a material that can be processed, reshaped and reformed from its original raw material state - graphite.

Researchers create super-small transistor, artificial atom powered by single electrons - 0 views

  • Researchers create super-small transistor, artificial atom powered by single electrons
  • The SketchSET—which is the first single-electron transistor made entirely of oxide-based materials—consists of an island formation that can house up to two electrons. The number of electrons on the island—which can be only zero, one, or two—results in distinct conductive properties. Wires extending from the transistor carry additional electrons across the island.
  • One virtue of a single-electron transistor is its extreme sensitivity to an electric charge, Levy explained. Another property of these oxide materials is ferroelectricity, which allows the transistor to act as a solid-state memory. The ferroelectric state can, in the absence of external power, control the number of electrons on the island, which in turn can be used to represent the 1 or 0 state of a memory element. A computer memory based on this property would be able to retain information even when the processor itself is powered down, Levy said. The ferroelectric state also is expected to be sensitive to small pressure changes at nanometer scales, making this device potentially useful as a nanoscale charge and force sensor.

gkaindl.com → software → arduino ethernet - 0 views

  • Arduino Ethernet is a collection of libraries I have written to use within the Arduino programming environment in conjunction with the Ethernet shield. While the individual libraries are downloaded within a single archive, they do not depend on each other (unless noted otherwise) and can be used independently. The libraries are published under the GPLv2 (or, at your discretion, any later version). Individual libraries EthernetBonjour | Documentation EthernetDHCP | Documentation EthernetDNS | Documentation Also, by popular demand, I've prepared a very simple demo sketch using DNS, DHCP and Bonjour together. Basically, it gets network configuration data via DHCP, then lets you resolve DNS names via the DNS server received from DHCP, all while announcing its DHCP-assigned IP address via link-local Bonjour — Basically a combination of examples from the individual libraries, which I also recommend to look at, as they contain lots of comments explaining how stuff works.
