About Hands First Alcohol Free Sanitiser
Hand Hygiene is commonly recognized as the single most important way of preventing the spread of germs, bacteria and sickness. Washing hands thoroughly with soap and water is the most common way to sanitise hands, however soap and water are not always readily available and can also be very time consuming. Hands First is an Antibacterial, Alcohol free, Water-less Hand Sanitiser. It is a quick, efficient and easy way to sanitise hands without the need for soap, water or towel. Simply apply one pump to hands and rub together until dry (10 secs). Hands First is Laboratory proven to kill 99.99% of germs. Hands First is also fragrance free, so it leaves no smell on your hands, won't taint food and is suitable for the most sensitive skin, it also contains moisturising Aloe Vera and will not dry out your skin. Hands First uses a unique foaming pump which delivers an easy to use metered amount that also makes it last more than two times longer than a gel sanitiser of the same volume . It can be used as often as you like with none of the side effects that are associated with regular use of an Alcohol based sanitiser, ie. skin irritation and dryness. Hands First has been designed to be used where sanitising is required multiple times a day. Being alcohol free it will not tarnish your jewellery, so be aware of bracelets that hang down into the palm of your hand and your rings. It will not take the shine off your manicure either so you can sanitise properly every time. These are great reasons why you should make the change from your current hand cleaner to Hands First Alcohol Free Hand Sanitiser.

    Ingredients
We know the importance of using the safest ingredients. Hands First uses the Antibacterial agent Benzalkonium Chloride which has been used by doctors and in the food industry to safely sanitise with for over 30 years.
Hands First Alcohol Free Sanitiser formulation contains the natural ingredients Grapefruit Seed Extract and Aloe Vera. A safe and effective formula that contains no artificial fragrances or dyes. Not tested on animals.
    Benzalkonium Chloride.
Is a Quaternary ammonium compound, otherwise known as a Quat. It is one of the safest biocides known and has a long history of efficacious use. It has long been deemed safe for human use and is widely used in eyewashes, hand and face washes, mouthwashes, spermicidal creams and in various other cleaners, sanitisers and disinfectants. Benzalkonium Chloride has residual Antibacterial qualities continuing to kill germs after its initial applica-tion.
Grapefruit Seed Extract. Is a benign yet extremely potent and effective alternative to the toxic and environmentally harmful chemicals used in a diverse spectrum of consumer products. It protects finished products from bacterial and fungal attack. It is a natural antibacterial, anti fungal, non-toxic, non-metallic, organic compound which can be used as an effective preservative in cosmetics. Grapefruit seed extract is classified as non-toxic by oral ingestion and is not a primary skin irritant or a corrosive material. It is not only a safe and non-toxic alternative, but is often markedly more effective than typically used synthetic product's.
Aloe Vera. The Aloe Vera plant has been known and used for centuries for its health, beauty, medicinal, and skin care properties. The properties of Aloe Vera gel applied externally or taken internally, have been described in numerous scientific journals and reveal that Aloe Vera contains more than 70 essential ingredients including most vitamins, minerals, enzymes, protein and amino acid's.
Hands First® is part of the Skin First® range of products.
Most Alcohol based hand sanitisers contain up to 63% to 70% Ethanol, making them highly flammable and a danger around chil-dren. They are actually classed as dangerous goods! The Alcohol in these products make them very drying to the skin as they strip the skin of its protective natural oils, causing it to become dry and cracked. Germs and dead skin cells can then get trapped in these cracks, even more so because of the polymer thickeners used in the gel and this can lead to infection. Studies have concluded that regular use of an Alcohol based gel sanitiser can actually make the skin more contaminated, not cleaner. Hands First uses the active ingredient Benzalkonium Chloride which has been safely used in the medical and food industries to sanitise for over 30 years and is used in many products including nasal sprays and eyewashes. Benzalkonium Chloride has lasting Antimicrobial qualities, continuing to kill germs for a few hours after being applied, whereas the Alcohol based sani-tisers stop working once the Alcohol has evaporated. Alcohol based sanitis-ers also leave a harsh lingering smell, sting when applied to broken skin and can also tarnish jewellery, fade nail polish and stain fabrics.
    Alcohol based Gels and Children.
In the United States in 2006 there were over 11000 calls to the poison call centre involving Alcohol based sanitisers, over 80% of these involved children under the age of 6. There has also been a reported case of a toddler being rushed to hospital with a high blood Alcohol level from ingesting some sanitiser that was in her bathroom at home, this and the danger of having highly flammable liquids around children has moved many schools and childcare centres to ban them.
