7 Things You Should Know About a Domain of One's Own - 0 views

  •
Description: Domain of One's Own refers to the practice of giving students, faculty and staff the opportunity to obtain a web domain with hosted space. SUNY has a Domain of One's own initiative that they have branded SUNY Create. For more information on Domain of One's Own, read this flyer from Educause's 7 Things to know series. This workshop will assume that participants do not have a background in webhosting or system administration. Participants will first be treated the same way that undergraduates are when they are introduced to the system, going over the very basics of how the internet works including domains, hosting, IP Addresses, and open source software. You will be given and then taught to manipulate a cPanel account, and by the end of the session you will have installed a web platform like Wordpress.

Getting Started with Equity - 0 views

  •
Getting Started With Equity: A Guide for Academic Department Leaders has a very specific purpose, which is to serve as a first step for department chairs to develop and curate an educational environment that is simultaneously justice-centered and equity-advancing. To achieve this goal, department chairs must work to foment a culture where: * An intersectional analysis of race, gender, power, capital, etc., is championed. * Critical practices that are equity-advancing, liberatory, and justice-centered are implemented. * Educators are encouraged to enter into, or go deeper in, work that holds the potential to disrupt deeply-entrenched macrostructural inequity in higher education.
