Manning the mower may seem like the most dangerous work in the weekends and that's after having a whole week living the high rush of navigating through the crush of traffic, which just drains away the entire cache of energy, if any, left from the office. Imagine how it would feel when you have done such stressful work every single day for your livelihood. America seems to have a fair number of unemployed people but not always due to the lack of jobs, but lack of will to do some of them. There are many jobs in the country which seems so glamorous and exotic, but is life threatening in truth.
Types of jobs available
There are ample numbers of jobs that may sound very mundane and be absolute nerve-wracking to say the least. Some of them we see daily in the course of our day but do not realize how much of a risk is borne by those involved in it. Due to the nature of jobs, location and the level of risk attached, they are quite highly paid and given good benefits, as well. Based on the same criteria, they can be divided into three very broad categories, Jobs of surface land or underground, jobs on the water and in deep seas and those of air.
Overview of Land based jobs
Though most of the jobs found on the land are challenging, Bounty hunters (who trace criminals who have jumped bail), Firefighters, Policemen and Detectives, etc. are especially so. They can earn anywhere between $80000 to $125000 p.a. Then there are the less glamorous jobs as the Loggers who work in high altitudes and adverse conditions, Roofers, construction workers, electric power line installers, Mining workers, Farmers and ranchers, etc. which have an average of about $50000 to $ 70000 p.a.; the reason being, the high fatality rate in them.
Glancing through the Jobs on and in the water
The jobs related to water bodies such as rivers, seas and Oceans such as that of the fishermen at high seas, oil rig technicians (ones who work on oil rigs offshore and onshore as well), commercial divers (those who perform construction, engineering, inspection and maintenance underwater); pearl divers and submarine cooks are more exotic with the former diving deep into the sea risking their life to gather pearls from the ocean bed and the latter is self explanatory. They can get almost $94000 p.a. to a daily wage of $1200, depending on the work.
Airborne and Well
Commercial and airline pilots both are compensated handsomely for the risk they bear but it is also a fact that no amount of caution can help when a plane goes down. They have a salary range that veers between $93000 to $118000 p.a. The others are the flight engineers, test pilots and the air force. But one of the extremely dangerous jobs is that of the airplane repossessors who go behind enemy lines and get the aircrafts back for a hefty fee of 6-10 % of the plane's resale value.
