"In recent years ePortfolios have begun to emerge as an important component of the technology landscape within education institutions at both school and tertiary levels. Whilst the purpose of an ePortfolio can vary considerably depending on the educational context and level, there is increasing consensus that the ePortfolio fulfils a need for a student-owned and student-centred space to manage, record and present their work, reflections and achievements that LMS systems cannot easily cater for. Within the Schools MLE Programme the LMS system is seen as a 'hub' component in the curriculum and pedagogy space. Eportfolios represent one of the key satellite systems in this space. The Ministry of Education (MOE) conducted an initial investigation into ePortfolio use in schools in 2009.1 One of the primary questions motivating that work was how best to support schools in developing their use of ePortfolios. ePortfolios for Learning I have created this blog to discuss my ideas on electronic portfolios to support lifelong learning. I hope to share some of my concerns about the current direction of electronic portfolios in Higher Education and K-12 schools.

We examined each key competency, discussed in groups what it would look like, and brainstormed ideas that were added to the wall chart. Evidence of success with the key competency was recorded in the students' portfolios."

Written by Ian Munro in the Ministry of Education, this paper serves to help people get oriented in the eportfolio space and launch them forward with improved odds of success.

Introduction: Many schools have been asking how they can learn more about MyPortfolio and get started in using it. A few of us put our heads together and decided to create a marketplace where schools requesting taster / introductory sessions can link up with those willing to offer these sessions. There is also a link to the guidelines we as a community think should apply to these sessions.
