Who is your favorite author? If you're not sure, think about your favorite book. Who wrote it? If you like the book, then you surely like the author who wrote it!

In this activity, you will choose one author you like and do the following:

    1. Find out if he or she has a website. Bookmark it in your library. Write a short description of the site and create at least four tags identifying it.

-- An easy way to find out if an author has a website is to visit http://www.google.com/ and search the name of the author. Usually, if there is a website, it will be the first search result.

    2. Most author websites include the author's biography (sometimes called "bio" or "about"). Use the Diigo toolbar to highlight a fact about the author that you find most interesting and include a comment about why you find it interesting.

    3. Share your bookmark and piece of interesting information with this group.

    Example:

One of my favorite authors is Cynthia Lord. She has written two books I really enjoy. One is called Rules and the other is Touch Blue.

I bookmarked her website. You can see it at http://www.diigo.com/user/elmiller02

I like this information about Cynthia Lord because it shows that her writing is really important to her. It also makes me wonder about what she is writing next...a moose? It's fun to think about what the next story might be!
