Very interesting article on how to use analytics to improve course design.

The Horizon Report is useful for educators because of the predictions it has made about digital technology which have aready come to pass.

Some of these blogs can be useful in helping us create new ideas for our courses or just to see what others are doing.

This is interesting and makes me think more about sharing course design with multiple universities.

We have this in our division, and its a great tool for quick, no fuss recording for those who are not so tech savvy but still want to add videos to their courses.

This video investigates students experiences of free online courses from some of the best institutions in the world.

Given the harsh criticisms that social networks commonly face when it comes to their use by teenagers, I thought it would be useful to post this newspaper piece that presents the opposite argument: Social media might be usually considered to be just places of the lurking danger of real-life social isolation (among more gruesome dangers in this context), but they could also be seen as places where a teenager can be inventive, discover aptitudes and of course develop his/her social skills. Also, it discusses research which shows that teenagers are more often than not well aware of the dangers that lie behind the (ab)use of social media.

Hmmm, should I share this with my teenage son?

The issue was highlighted this month, when Harvard University and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology were sued for allegedly failing to provide such students with closed captioning for online lectures and course

The best way to determine how to offer your distance learning course is to consider these items: What do you want your students to know? How do you teach this on campus? How comfortable are you with technology-and do you want to learn? Remember: More technology does not make better teaching or learning.

This was a suggestion to create a video that could be used in a course.

One of my colleagues likes to create a "Wall" for major topics in his course such as the Cold War. This takes the places of a conventional classroom bulletin board where instructor and students can post photos and web sites and their own work.
