GroupMe is an instant chat room developed by an individual of the group. The individual can seen a request to all individuals whom they would like to be involved in the the group. The individuals has to accept the invitation and then they can communicate within the group.

Maintaining healthy group dynamics in face-to-face or online courses is something that is typically taken for granted - until there are problems. Know the early signs of trouble and methods for dealing with difficult situations.

I have used Poll Everywhere, Padlet, Google Docs/Forms for checking students' group work in class, but I've always wanted a simple tool that takes a second for students to complete and another second for me to check their completion but a tool where students don't get to "cheat" by peeking at what other groups are writing because they can't see what other students are typing until they post their answers!

I am using VoiceThread for students to create digital stories to share about their research projects. Other students will peer review, comment, and write a reflection. Use VoiceThread Search Box terms "online teaching" to find Projects created for Online Courses.

The eminent scholar of legal ethics talks about the book she co-edited.The books deals with privacy issues of the internet. A very important read for anyone who wants to use social media. Birgit

As with other content on DailyTekk, this has an e-commerce focus, but some of these tools may have educational value too. (I'm thinking particularly of the grouping, filtering, and visualization tools.)

The Special Interest Groups area of the website includes SIGs on E-Portfolios, Virtual Communities, etc. It's in its infancy, so now's the time to get involved!

#TT1921 - I got a better insight into synchronous interaction though this article. I think it is worth reading. Synchronous learning refers to a learning event in which a group of students are engaging in learning at the same time. Before learning, technology allowed for synchronous learning environments, most online education took place through asynchronous learning methods. Since synchronous tools that can be used for education have become available, many people are turning to them as a way to help decrease the challenges associated with distance that occurs in online education.

Lucidchart is a great mind-mapping tech tool that can be used for content creation, group work, asynchronous AND synchronous communication! If you're looking for an "elective" or any of the other categories I just mentioned to round out your "scrapbook," this is one you might want to check out!
