The Arkansas State Music Teachers Association, Incorporated, is an affiliate of the Music Teachers National Association (MTNA). Its purpose is to further the art of music, and to promote the growth and professional development of its members by providing programs that encourage and support teaching, performance, composition, and research.

We are a federated state affiliate of the National Association for Music Education (NAfME). NAfME (formerly MENC) represents more than 140,000 music educators.

The GRAMMY Foundation influences the lives of young people by opening the windows of opportunity that music can provide for their futures. Our nationwide programs range from afternoon sessions with artists such as GRAMMY Camp - Basic Training, to longer intensive experiences such as GRAMMY Camp and GRAMMY Camp - Jazz Session, all designed to bring youths together with working professionals.

In the primary grades, student and class performance is constantly being monitored. The teacher will regularly give verbal feedback on how engaged students are (participation).
