Interview with Devon Michael: "There's something about Devon" - 0 views

  •
If you like Ne Yo Drake, Jay-Z, and Kanye West, then you have to listen to the featured artist of the week with Devon Michael. The best part about Devon Michael is his originality. You get more than one speed of music from this album. It travels from great driving music, to the dance floor, to the street, and to the bedroom. It is impossible to get bored with this album, because there's is no one constant. It makes the listener wonder what the next song will bring. If you enjoy R&B and Hip Hop, you get the best of both worlds and it's impossible to just listen to once, in fact, you get hooked. Jennifer Grassman is an Alternative Pop singer/songwriter from Austin, Texas. Her sound is a unique blend of Tori Amos, Sara Bareilles, and Amy Lee with a twist of Goth and Doris Day. Did I just say, Doris Day and Goth in the same sentence? Yes, I did.

Alif Tree - French Cuisine (Compost Records, 2005) - 0 views

  •
I don't know if I would have been able to identify this as a European outing judging the album by the art work on the front, but I could have made a good guess. Even with the solid colored squares and circles that are displayed for the listener to see, the music, at least the first half of the album is engorged with European style electronic hip hop.

Linked Data & the BBC Music Platform Relaunch - 0 views

  •
The new BBC web platform for music is online, offering some kind of mash-up presentations of the artists that make use of semantic resources. The main source for retrieving and mashing the informations (together with sites like Wikipedia and MySpace) is MusicBrainz, a "user-maintained community music meta-database", which offers the end-user the possibility to edit the data............

Deny This, Last.fm - 0 views

  •
Here's what we believe happened: CBS requested user data from Last.fm, including user name and IP address. CBS wanted the data to comply with a RIAA request but told Last.fm the data was going to be used for "internal use only." It was only after the data was sent to CBS that Last.fm discovered the real reason for the request. Last.fm staffers were outraged, say our sources, but the data had already been sent to the RIAA.

Music Reading vs. Tablatures (Part 2) - 0 views

  •
There are plenty of resources available that give TABs to everyone's favorite song and they generally work fine if all you want to do is learn your favorite guitar riff. But my goal is to go beyond just copying somebody else's riff to the place of really understanding what music and guitar playing are really made up of. And in order to do that, I have to introduce basic music reading. Not that you are going to end up playing classical guitar concertos, but so that we could learn the "why" of music. I understand that it can be truly frustrating to go back and try to read the music to play these simple songs when you can already play somewhat better by reading the TABS. I have found that in my experience in teaching many adults in your situation just say "Forget it, it's too much work and I don't even sound that good when I read the music. I can play better just reading the TAB. Besides, who wants to learn how to play Yankee Doodle anyway?" So they quit trying to learn the music and just tell themselves that "Some people can read music and some can't and I am just one of those that can't."

If Amy Lee of Evanescence and Trent Reznor of Nine Inch Nails were fused together in an accidental transporter incident, the result would be the birth of Klaryssa Korok, the heart and soul of Chamber of Echoes. \n\nRead my exclusive interview with Klayrssa at: \nhttp://greatunknownsmusicexpose.blogspot.com/2010/02/unbound-and-set-free-interview-with.html \n\nThank you for making The Great Unknowns Presents grow to 42,577 subscribers! \nInvite everyone to this group and make it grow even larger and surpass my goal of 129,000 subscribers to make this the number one podcast in America!

Introducing rocks best new and unheard talents: Forewalls - 0 views

  •
Listen to runner up band from Mt. SAC's 1st Annual Battle of the Bands. They surpassed 14 other bands to finish in the 2nd spot. This says a lot about how good a band that has only been together for five months. \n\nPersonally, I was disappointed they didn't win the BOTB event. Talent scouts were more interested in FOREWALLS than any other performer. \n\nListen to an exclusive 4-track preview with a special guest appearence with the band, right here: http://thegreatunknowns.podOmatic.com/entry/2010-04-23T08_17_14-07_00\n\nRead my exclusive interview with the band:\nhttp://greatunknownsmusicexpose.blogspot.com/2010/04/introducing-rocks-best-new-and-unheard.html\n\nThanks for checking out this weeks episode. \n \nFollow The Great Unknowns Presents at http://twitter.com/great_unknowns

When I was a kid growing up music seemed to be secularized across the country by region. There was the East Coast sound, the California Sound, Country music from the south and R&B from Detroit - the Motown sound.

Mammút presented by the Great Unknowns Presents, Ep XXVI - 0 views

  •
`Mammút is an Icelandic band and the featured artist of the week. While many listeners outside of Iceland may not understand a single lyric, make no mistake, they do speak the universal language of awesome rock music. They have a distinct Icelandic sound, but are similar to the Iceland band, The Sugarcubes and Bjork with an alternative rock kick.
