We are known as "Dabbawalas" around the whole world. The only work we do is just carrying the freshly made food from customer's home in tiffins and delivering to their offices and workplaces at lunch time. Every day we do this work in Mumbai, the biggest city of India

These dabbawalas are very good at the work they do and make no errors ever. Many management gurus have formulated management theories upon the dabbawalas of Mumbai. These people are so good at their work that they never fail to fulfill their duties and that also on time. Whether it is the busy roads or the overcrowded suburban trains, whether it's the blazing hot sun or whether it is the heavy showers of rain pouring… nothing has been able to deter a dabbawala from doing his task of delivering lunch boxes to his customer without any delay.

Mumbai dabbawala is a renowned name all over India as well as in the whole world. The only job we do is that we take freshly made food from the customer's home into tiffin boxes and deliver it to their office, school and other work place. All it looks so simple, but it is not.. we were thousands in number and deliver 200,000 tiffin boxes every day. The important thing about us is that punctuality of time. Every tiffin we deliver reaches to the destination at perfect time and without any mistake. This work is going on continuously from over a century.

Mumbai Dabbawala got success everyday in delivery of tiffins to thousands of people at right time with the effort of many people. There is a big hand of housewives in this success, because they are supporting us by their trust from many years and inspires us to work continuously. We use Dabba coding system in which we use alphanumeric characters so that there are no chances of any mistake.

Every tiffin we deliver reaches to the customer at an accurate time. The Dabbawalas in Mumbai are just 5,000 in numbers. Each dabba before delivering to the customer moves in nearly 4 to 6 hands during the whole process. So that there is no chance of mistake in it and the right dabba reaches to right hand every day. This is the reason why we are known around the whole world.

A movie released on 13th September titled "Lunch Box" has a base which only revolves around the dabbawalas. The movie shows that a dabbawala plays a special role in increasing love between man & women by transferring dabbas daily to the office of a man.
