This site was created by a grant from the REMC Association of Michigan for the creation of an educational resource for educational technology for students. Members of the REMC Instructional Technology Specialists in Michigan along with teachers from the state, have created this site to provide project-based activities which are aligned to the National Educational Technology Standards for Students (NETS-S), and the Michigan Educational Technology Standards for students (METS) as well as the Framework for 21st Century Learning identified by the Partnership For 21st Century Skills.

When it comes to learning, many educators know banning is the easy way out, but there are a number of reasons behind why students are not paying attention. Rather than taking away student rights and the freedom to use the tools they want, we must address the root of the issue that is causing the problem. My advice comes from someone who teaches adults and students in a "no ban zone." These ideas work for me and they will work for you

Neurologist and teacher Judy Willis will be presenting a 4-part series on how young brains develop neurologically; she'll also offer some research-based classroom strategies to teach critical thinking and other 21st century skills.

As you watch this video, think about what could happen in schools if  adults got out of the way.
